The brief footage once again teases the movie’s haunting atmosphere, as Washington’s Macbeth carries out the violent act that will seal his fate. And all in stark and stunning black-and-white. The Tragedy of Macbeth is sure to be an unmatched feast for the senses, with the newest footage teasing the meticulous use of sound and visuals to project an atmosphere of inevitable doom as the shadows created by the glorious black-and-white stab into every corner of the screen....

The Umbrella Academy is a bizarre show. This makes sense, given the fact that its source material, a Dark Horse Comics publication of the same name, is as nonsensical as it is beautifully illustrated. The Netflix original series has time travel, animal-headed hit people, peculiar superpowers, a suit-wearing monkey who talks, and an alien father figure. Perhaps most surprising, despite the show’s quirkiness, it has a lot of heart. No character is a better representation of the series’ carefully toed line between hilarious and earnest than Robert Sheehan’s (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Mortal Engines) Klaus Hargreeves....

It wasn’t a long wait, but The Walking Dead has finally unmasked the Reapers. Episode four, “Rendition”, begins with the night attack from Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) point of view. The knife whizzes by his head. He calls “Dog” and they flee into the dark woods. Daryl jumps a wall to a decrepit building. A Reaper lurks around the corner. Daryl tosses a rock to distract him. He’s attacked again in the woods....

The Witcher: Blood Origin arrived on Netflix to miserable critic reviews, but audiences have been almost as brutal as the show’s action scenes. While there are plenty of fans of The Witcher slamming the show as being another example of a badly written show, there have been a huge number of one-star reviews being logged from fans of Henry Cavill who are still angry at his departure from the main series....

After almost three decades off the air, The Wonder Years is getting a modern reboot at ABC. Moving on from Kevin and the Arnold family depicted in the original series, the new Wonder Years will instead follow a Black family living in the same era. From ABC and Empire co-creator Lee Daniels, the reboot has been given a “sizable pilot-production commitment” with plans to develop the series for the 2021-22 television season....

The Great Train Robbery kicked off Hollywood’s fascination with heist films in 1903, but the genre didn’t really blow up until the early 1950s with the noir crime film,The Asphalt Jungle. Based on the 1949 novel of W. R. Burnett, the film tells the story of Dix Handley, a man who plans to steal $1 million in jewels. All the workings of the classic heist caper are present here, as the film follows Handley as he assembles a team of low-level crooks, a safecracker, and a lawyer to carry out his quest....

American remakes of international films can be hit or miss, and there seem to be two schools of thought on this topic: the attempted erasure of foreign cinema versus art imitating art. It’s no surprise Hollywood tells great stories, but Hollywood is also inspired by the great stories being told internationally. The Simpsons is getting a Pixar-style makeover for a segment in this year’s annual Treehouse of Horror XXXI episode, as seen in some early sneak peek images. For decades, the long-running animated series has been spoofing popular movies and shows with their Halloween episodes. This year, the show will be tackling Toy Story with one of its parodies, and the segment has even been brought to life with CGI animation reminiscent of Pixar movies....

Back in February, we reported that True Blood series creator and showrunner Alan Ball was leaving the show after Season 5, which debuts on HBO Sunday, June 10. Today it was announced that executive producer Mark Hudis will step in as showrunner, if the network renews the hit vampire series for a sixth season. Mark Hudis joined the series in Season 4 as an executive producer. He previously worked with Alan Ball on the CBS sitcom Cybill, where they both wrote several episodes during the 1997-1998 season....

Longtime screenwriter W. Peter Iliff will make his directorial debut with Loaded. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be produced by Tucker Tooley for the Yari Film Group. Written by Iliff, the film revolves around an FBI agent who is forced to smoke crack in the line of duty, and becomes a drug addict because of it. He is later paired with a female agent who has a secret life as a sex addict....

Disney Animation has not had the most remarkable theatrical success in the last few years with its original movies. According to Deadline, this Thanksgiving looks set to leave Disney with another bad showing, as based on yesterday’s figures, its new movie Strange World is headed for a dismal opening gross of $20 million over the 5-day holiday. This is in stark contrast to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is set to continue to dominate the box office with $55-60 million on its third weekend of release....
