Sony Pictures has issued a casting call for their upcoming adventure The Mortal Instruments. Take a look at the criteria for the casting call below for the lead role of Jace Wayland: We reported earlier this week that actor Alex Pettyfer is circling the Jace Wayland role, although this casting call seems to indicate that Sony is heading in another direction. “We’re searching for someone to play Jace Wayland in the upcoming Mortal Instruments movie....

New York Comic Con (NYCC) today announced Lionsgate will be at its 2008 event promoting The Spirit, based on the classic comic book series created by Will Eisner and written for the screen and directed by Frank Miller. It’s unclear if director James Mangold is trying to offer hope or rile up ire with his latest comments about Hugh Jackman’s impending sequel The Wolverine. In one breath, he is calling it, “a foreign-language superhero drama.” Which is on the verge of sounding a bit dry. Then, he goes onto compare the movie to two great classics, The Outlaw Josey Wales and Chinatown, which sounds quite exciting. So, which is it?...

In mid-September, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will return for its 47th annual, 11-day event that celebrates talented filmmaking from all over the world. The festival will be screening dozens of films in an array of genres, from both acclaimed directors and others who will be making their feature debuts. In addition to several Canadian and worldwide premieres, several projects will be shown that have already won awards at previous festivals....

Autobots, transform and roll out! Transformers is coming to the free streaming platform, Pluto TV. The free streaming service is set to launch Transformers T.V. into its broad array of programming starting June 13th. Transformers already airs on Pluto T.V. through a few of its other channels, but Transformers super-fans will rejoice as this channel will bring the best of the series all day, every day. Triangle of Sadness is an upcoming satirical dark comedy by Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund, a rising name in international cinema. His breakthrough film was Force Majeure (2014), about a family vacationing in the Alps. When an apparent avalanche starts to approach, Thomas abandons his family and only tries to save himself. Of course, they all survive, and Thomas must explain why he voluntarily left his family for dead. Following Force Majeure, Östlund made The Square (2017), a satire about the absurdities of the art world, and his latest film Triangle of Sadness — both of which won Cannes Film Festival’s highest prize, the Palme d’Or....

HBO has released two fan-made blood-and-white posters for True Blood, which kicks off Season 5 Sunday, June 10 at 9 PM ET with Episode 5.01: Turn! Turn! Turn!. Edge Of Outside should be mandatory viewing for all people involved in the film business. I say this because this is on of the first documentary films I have ever seen that really draws a distinction between independent and low budget films. It also points out that many interesting films have come from the studio system, while a lot of garbage has been thrust open the world via the “Indie Film scene” and organizations like Sundance....

Disney XD has provided us with a clip from this weekend’s episode of Ultimate Spider-Man, “The Rhino”, airing Sunday, January 27 at 11 AM ET. HarperCollins Publishers announced that Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired the feature film rights to the seven-book fantasy series, Septimus Heap. This bestselling series marks UK author Angie Sage’s first foray into middle-grade fantasy.
