Fox and Warner Bros.’s battle over the rights to Watchmen took stepped toward resolution Tuesday when the federal judge presiding over the dispute set a January 6 trial date for the case, according to The Hollywood Reporter. With a March release date looming, U.S. District Court Judge Gary Allen Feess said Fox should forgo any attempt to get a preliminary injunction against Warners to stop the release of the film because the issues were far too complex to be resolved on an interim basis, sources said....

Warner Bros. has officially canceled the Batgirl movie before it could ever be released. Meant to find a home on their streaming platform HBO Max next year, the decision comes with the company’s shift from streaming to focus on theatrical releases. Who’s The Boss? will pick up 30 years after the original show’s conclusion and will follow the relationship between father and daughter, Tony and Samantha. Love and Monsters was a 2020 post-apocalyptic monster romantic comedy directed by Michael Matthews that follows a young man named Joel (Dylan O’Brien), who sets out to reunite with his high school friend Aimee (Jessica Henwick) after reconnecting with her over the radio. Kids’ WB! on the CW premieres four new series on September 22 when the No. 1 rated Saturday morning kids broadcast network officially begins its 2007 season, it was announced today by Kids’ WB! The trailer for The Mean One has been released and seems familiar enough. We see a mountain, presumably Mount Crumpit, before transitioning to a Young Cindy You-Know-Who (Saphina Chanadet) who comes downstairs to find a fake Santa Clause (David Howard Thornton) with green fur in her house. After asking the intruder, “Why Santa Clause, why,” he pats her on the head but doesn’t give her a drink and send her to bed....

The Academy Award nominations are out for this year’s ceremony, and while this isn’t exactly a big shocker for those who saw the acclaimed film, The Power of the Dog was one of the heaviest hitters. It scored a dozen total noms, with lead star Benedict Cumberbatch going up for Best Actor for his lead role in the film as Phil Burbank. This is the second Best Actor nod for Cumberbatch, who was previously nominated for 2014’s The Imitation Game....

The news that Hugh Jackman will be returning to the role of Wolverine in the upcoming third Deadpool film has set the internet ablaze with excitement. Deadpool 3 has been in various forms of development for several years now. Despite the resounding success of the first two Deadpool films, there has been a significant gap between the second and third films. The third entry in the series was announced shortly after the release of Deadpool 2, but Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox’s film and television assets has significantly delayed Deadpool 3’s development....

Rob Marshall and John DeLuca have officially signed on to the Warner Bros. planned remake of The Thin Man. The pair will produce the film via their Lucamar Productions banner. Award-winning director Marshall is also confirmed to direct. The film will reteam Marshall with Johnny Depp, who is attached to star in the project. The two just worked together on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which Disney will be releasing on May 20....

AMC announced today the renewal of The Walking Dead for a 13-episode second season. Since debuting Sunday, October 31, The Walking Dead has broken ratings records, with the series reaching more Adults 18-49 than any other show in the history of cable television. Today’s announcement also includes Fox International Channels’ (FIC) global renewal for a second season, following record-breaking premiere ratings in 120 countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East....

The Witcher is one of Netflix’s most popular shows, taking the streaming service by storm. Even though its first season released late 2019, the show made it on the top 10 list that year. The show continued strong into its second season, and now, production has begun on season three. It seems the show is in no hurry to end soon, and neither is the franchise, as Netflix has made plans for several spinoff series with new characters all set in the same universe....

Toshiba Corp., the biggest backer of HD DVD, has announced a new marketing initiative and has also made it clear that this format war isn’t quite over yet. “HD DVD is the best way to watch movies in high definition,” said Jodi Sally, Vice President of Marketing, Toshiba’s Digital A/V Group. “Our HD DVD players not only play back approximately 800 HD DVD titles available worldwide and deliver an entirely new level of entertainment but also enhance the picture quality to near high definition on legacy DVD titles by all studios....

CBS has released a new trailer for The Twilight Zone season finale. This particular episode is titled Blurryman and features a rather interesting pair of stars in the form of Seth Rogen and Zazie Beetz. We’re used to seeing Rogen be the funny man in movies such as This Is the End and Knocked Up, but here, he’s playing it serious alongside Beetz, who audiences came to know as Domino in Deadpool 2, in addition to her work on the hit series Atlanta....

Smallville fans brace yourself - while the series may be coming back next season, two of the main characters won’t be. Entertainment Weekly’s Mike Ausiello has discovered from an insider on the show that two pivotal characters will die, and he says that both of these deaths will be the real deal. “These characters will die and they will stay dead,” the source confirmed, “This is the real deal.” Now, being grounded in comic book roots, expect there to be a Smallville style twist, but these twists apparently do not involve either character coming back to life....

Ty Burrell plays Dr. Leonard Samson, psychologist to the superheroes, in The Incredible Hulk, and the actor now opens up to Wizard Universe about what we can expect to see from the character in his debut film appearance. The comic-book version of Samson gained super-strength from a gamma radiation accident, and while Burrell wouldn’t reveal definitively whether or not Samson will gain his powers (or trademark green hair) in this film, he would reveal some details about what we can expect from the character....

Actor Wesley Snipes is moving forward with a new movie entitled Code Name Zorro, which looks at FBI leader J. Edgar Hoover and how he thought Martin Luther King Jr.’s civil rights movement was a threat to the country in the 1960s. Deadline has the news on this project, which was written by Justin Stamm.
