Tom Holland is already back on the big screen in overseas theaters with the international release of Uncharted. Last month we reported that Horrible Bosses writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein will write and direct the Vacation reboot. During PaleyFest last week, John Francis Daley revealed he has roles written for Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo to return as Clark and Ellen Griswold. The story will center on Rusty Griswold, who is all grown up and makes plans to take his own family on their first vacation together, to visit Wally World before the amusement park shuts its doors for good....

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced and dispatched a version of the Illuminati in gruesome fashion, with decapitations, broken necks, and the “spaghetti-ing” of Mr. Fantastic. However, the first shocking dispatch came to Inhumans leader Black Bolt, played by Anson Mount, who found that he didn’t have the brain to deal with Wanda – so she crushed it using his own powers. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is moving along at a pace and that means that Vin Diesel is back in the studio to record some new voice-overs for fan favorite Groot. As everyone knows by now, the character of Groot is well known for only ever uttering the three words “I am Groot,” but that doesn’t mean that Diesel completed his work on the character years ago. Inspired by the upcoming romantic comedy Music and Lyrics, Warner Bros. Pictures is partnering with music and pop culture channel VH1 to give songwriting hopefuls the chance to have their original love song professionally recorded in the “Your Music, Your Lyrics” songwriting contest. Beginning December 26, 2006 and running through January, 20, 2007, contestants can write, record and upload an original love song to Talentload.tv/musicandlyrics. Videos of the entries will be streamed via the website and assessed on the basis of theme, lyrics and overall musicality....

Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to Ross Macdonald’s novel The Galton Case for a feature adaptation. The Galton Case, first published in 1959, is Ross Macdonald’s eighth novel in his series centering on private detective Lew Archer. The story centers on Archer, who is hired to find the mysterious heir to the Galton family fortune. Along the way, Archer discovers a number of secrets about the family. The studio is currently seeking a screenwriter to adapt The Galton Case, which they believe has the potential for a franchise....

Nearly a year and a half after ordering the pilot episode, HBO has issued a series order for the sci-fi series Westworld, which will debut sometime in 2015 on the cable network. Westworld is described by HBO as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.” The series is based on the 1973 feature film Westworld, which took place at an amusement park where patrons could live out their fantasies with the help of android robots, although a malfunction causes the robots to start hunting down the human guests....

Adaptations are always prominent in the movie world. Often, there’s already a fanbase to draw in, meaning there’s a high chance that filmmakers will be able to make back the money they spent adapting it, and if it’s a franchise, they might make even more money from subsequent films. One of the dangers, however, is failing to live up to the preexisting fanbase’s love of the book. Trying to rework the story to better fit a film is a thin line that has to be walked in order to appease the majority of the audience....

November 2022 will mark the one-year anniversary that Peter Jackson’s The Beatles: Get Back documentary series premiered on Disney+. Airing from November 25th to 27th, the 2021 documentary covered the making of the Beatles’ final album, 1970’s Let It Be. The documentary series was created using hours of unseen footage and audio from the 1970 documentary film Let It Be which in many cases highlighted the downfall of the band and the growing tension among the members....

There has been a significant re-emergence of fan interest in The Lord of the Rings lately as a result of Prime Video’s new Middle-Earth series, The Rings of Power. While that series is depicting the legends of Tolkien’s Second Age, the Third Age of Middle-Earth has already been greatly explored on-screen through Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films. Do people want to see a sequel to The Goonies? Well, one person who really does is the creator of hit ABC sitcom The Goldbergs, Adam F. Goldberg, who has taken the time to write and pitch one. Appearing at Connecticut’s Terrificon 2022 (via Fandom Spotlite), The Goonies star Joe Pantoliano, who played antagonist Francis Fratelli in the original outing, revealed that the producer and writer Adam F. Goldberg pitched a Goonies 2 to the late legendary director Richard Donner....

Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard’s cult hit The Guest has already received a sequel of sorts, with an album titled Adam Wingard Presents: The Guest 2 released back on April 1st. That’s right, it’s an album for a movie that does not exist, released on April Fool’s Day. While releasing a follow-up in a different medium is an intriguingly unique idea, Wingard has now revealed that the making of the album many actually lead to The Guest 2 finally making its way to screens....

Director Peter Jackson revealed today to The Dominion Post that the status of The Hobbit should be more clear in the very near future. While the financial situation over at MGM is still holding the film back, Warner Bros., which owns half of the rights to the franchise is, “making progress untangling the MGM situation, so we should have certainty with The Hobbit sometime soon.” Peter Jackson also said that a decision on whether or not he would direct The Hobbit and The Hobbit Sequel had not been made....

Even though there were no Nazi’s in sight - as far as I could tell - the Basterds made their presence felt in the City of Angels last night. These Basterds weren’t in a scalping mood, though, as they gathered at the famed New Beverly Cinema theater in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of Inglourious Basterds, which just came out today on DVD, two-disc special edition DVD and Blu-ray.
