The 1992 sports comedy film White Men Can’t Jump is getting rebooted with an all-new cast, but the filmmakers are hoping that two lead stars of the original film will be back for the updated version. Written and directed by Ron Shelton, the original movie starred Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson as a pair of streetball hustlers taking advantage of the perception that white men can’t be skilled at basketball. The film was a hit at the box office with overall positive reviews, though it has somehow managed to never get a sequel or a remake… until now....

Detroiters ran for only two seasons before it was canceled by Comedy Central. The show was beloved by so many sitcom fans, who were confused and angry — much like the show’s creators — when the network decided to pull the plug. As far as sitcoms go, the show toed the line between the more conventional office environment, cringe comedy styles such as The Office or Parks and Recreation, and shows that fall on the more inane side of the scale — think The Eric Andre Show....

The CW has renewed some of their most beloved shows, while the fates of several others hang in the balance. The network has announced the renewal of ten shows in total, including Riverdale, Supernatural and the entirety of their DC Comics slate for the 2018-2019 season. This means that the vast majority of the network’s scripted programming slate will return next season, which doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise, as the network’s strategy in regards to their scripted programming lineup in recent years has worked quite well for them....

The Goonies is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an incredible new Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and DVD, which will hit shelves on November 2. We were invited to a special event on the Warner Bros. lot where we got to speak with several of the key players involved in this family classic. Director Richard Donner is one of those players, who revealed that a sequel to The Goonies will likely never happen, nor will a remake....

The Handmaid’s Tale actress Madeline Brewer revealed her abortion story on social media shortly after Roe vs. Wade was overturned. The star discussed her decision to open up in a guest essay for Self. Brewer talks with The Hollywood Reporter about the fact that she felt compelled to share her story because of the Roe decision and her acting work. Brewer had just finished filming season five of The Handmaid’s Tale and was working on an audition for the London West End musical she is now set to star in, Cabaret....

The Hangover Part II has already had its fair share of legal issues, including Mike Tyson’s tattoo artist suing for copyright infringement, and a stuntman who claims to have suffered brain injuries on the set. A new lawsuit was filed last week which alleges the entire sequel’s plot was pilfered from another script. Screenwriter Michael Alan Rubin claims that the comedy blockbuster was stolen from an original script he wrote entitled Mickey and Kirin, which is based on his own honeymoon experience with a Japanese bride....

In the meantime, I thought I’d address the news that has been reported about us shooting The Hobbit at 48 frames per second, and explain to you what my thoughts are about this. There’s plenty of Kenan Thompson comedy to go around at NBC, as the network has put in a series order for a new comedy series starring the Saturday Night Live star. Previously called Saving Kenan, The Kenan Show will be written by Jackie Clarke with Chris Rock directing and executive producing. Of course, Thompson will star on the show, playing a man who “strives to be a super dad to his two adorable girls (Dani Lockett and Dannah Lockett) while simultaneously balancing his job and a father-in-law (Andy Garcia) who ‘helps’ in the most inappropriate ways....

The King of California will be released on DVD on January 29th. It will also be available on HD-DVD and Blu-Ray on the same day. The movie stars Michael Douglas and Evan Rachel Wood as a bizarre father-daughter duo searching for hidden gold. Here’s a complete rundown of the disc. Synopsis Michael Douglas stars as a treasure-hunting eccentric in this Alexander Payne-produced comedy from director Michael Cahill. Recently released from a mental institution and reunited with his teenage daughter, Miranda (Evan Rachel Wood), Charlie (Douglas) decides there’s century’s old gold buried near their lower-middle-class neighborhood, and sets out on an obsessive quest to find it....

The 2015 documentary film The Nightmare by Rodney Ascher, his sophomore feature after the iconic documentary Room 237 about The Shining, was inspired by Ascher’s own experiences with sleep paralysis. Ascher tells The Cinessential that he began to have these symptoms after college and that they “left a mark.” He was interested in the people who had “traveled farther down this road than [he] had,” and wanted to look closer at the subject of sleep paralysis....

Gamemaker MumboJumbo has just optioned the rights to NBC’s popular Thursday night sitcom The Office. According to Variety, the company plans on turning the hit show into an interactive videogame. The game will have players handling the workload at Dunder Mifflin, and they will also have to play pranks on Dwight. This is the first-ever Hollywood license for the game company. They also have the likeness rights to the show’s cast, which will be portrayed as bobble-head dolls....

The Good Everything starts off on the right foot… The Bad Too much of this movie looks like a music video. John Moore’s new version of The Omen is a capably told tale, it just suffers from too much stylization. Therefore, scenes that are supposed to be scary really do not come off that way, because too much of the film looks like a music video. This tale of a couple who take in a baby of unknown origins, and then it turns out that he is the spawn of satan, is treated with nothing but the utmost seriousness here....

Disney reportedly wants to revisit the world of The Princess Diaries. THR reports that a new sequel is in development at the House of Mouse with Aadrita Mukerji (Supergirl, Reacher, Quantum Leap) writing the screenplay. According to the report, the plan is for the film to serve as a new sequel to the previous movies featuring Anne Hathaway. While Hathaway isn’t currently signed on for this planned third installment, word is she’s wanted by the filmmakers to return for the movie....

Sony Pictures Television and Marvel Entertainment join forces with McDonald’s with a specially branded Happy Meal program based on the animated series The Spectacular Spider-Man, which will be available for an exciting four-week period (February 27-March 26) at participating restaurants in the United States while supplies last. The Spectacular Spider-Man US Happy Meal will feature a collection of eight action figures, including Spider-Man Suction Cup, Doctor Octopus, Spider-Man Swinging, Venom, Spider-Man Launcher, Green Goblin, Spider-Man Crawling, and Sandman....

The Umbrella Academy season 3 is a go at Netflix. The streaming service has made it official and handed out a renewal for the series, which is based on the Dark Horse Comics title of the same name. The news was shared by the show’s official Twitter account, which confirmed that production on the next season will get underway in February. The message reads as follows. Additionally, a teaser image that simply features the number “3” with an umbrella on it was shared, signifying the renewal....

20th Century Fox will bring its superhero sequel The Wolverine down under, securing a deal to shoot in Sydney, Australia. It isn’t known when production is scheduled to start in the Australian capital. Here’s what Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner had to say about the production coming to town. The Australian federal government has kicked in $12.8 million to land the shoot. Another $10 million will be spent in post-production as well....

Throughout the years, there have been several great survival films that took place in different settings. A survival story in the wilderness usually shows us great animal threats such as wolves or bears. If they take place in the snowy mountains, there are the dreadful threats of starving or freezing to death....
