A new movie focused on pro wrestling is in the works with Zac Efron attached to star in the lead role. Per Deadline, the film is called The Iron Claw and is based on the story of the Von Erichs, one of pro wrestling history’s most famous families who were particularly celebrated in the Texas area. Written and directed by Sean Durkin, the film is in the works at A24 which will produce the feature alongside Tessa Ross, Derrin Schlesinger, and Harrison Huffman....

WWE superstar Sasha Banks reportedly has a role in The Mandalorian season 2. Jon Favreau and crew are currently shooting the second season of the Disney+ series. Banks has been out of wrestling since earlier this month with an ankle injury and it’s believed that she already shot her parts for the live-action Star Wars show. However, it is unclear what role she’ll have when the highly anticipated second season airs this fall....

You can watch a Tim Burton classic in 1080p for the first time this August. The Nightmare Before Christmas is coming to Blu-Ray on August 26. The BD disc will be priced at $39.99 and a new collectors edition of the film will be released in the standard format as well, priced at $32.99 SRP. For the ultimate fan, an Ultimate Collector’s Gift Set will also be released that day which will include an individually numbered hand-painted bust of Jack Skellington in all his gory glory equipped with a Jack’s “Sandy Claws” hat and beard, a sound chip that plays memorable lines from the film and a letter of authenticity....

Steve Carell’s last episode of The Office will air on Thursday, April 28, closing out a seven-season run on the hit NBC comedy series. The air date, coincidentally, is the first day of sweeps week. We reported in January that Steve Carell would leave the show a few weeks before the Season 7 finale. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson knows how to get people’s attention and what better way to do that than a giant billboard. Johnson is teaming up with Ryan Reynolds in a new Netflix action movie, Red Notice. In a hilarious jab at his co-star, Johnson put up an epic billboard that accuses Reynolds of something many people do but may be afraid to admit. Dwayne Johnson posted a picture of the billboard to his Instagram account and the billboard says, “Ryan Reynolds uses his mom’s Netflix account....

Fans of The Simpsons who also happen to be Disney+ subscribers have reason to celebrate. Or perhaps a reason to subscribe to the streaming service in the first place. Disney has revealed that they are fixing the aspect ratio for the first 19 seasons (and change) of the long-running animated sitcom, which has been an issue ever since the service launched in November of last year. For nearly 20 years, The Simpsons was presented in a standard 4:3 aspect ratio, which was far more common before HD TVs became more accessible, which then altered the aspect ratio for most shows....

In Sunday night’s new episode, The Simpsons will finally dive into the origin story of one of the show’s most eccentric characters: Comic Book Guy. Called “The Dad-Feelings Limited,” the episode will reveal the “awesome origin story” of the sarcastic comic book salesman. A sneak peek clip from the episode has also been released, revealing Homer and Marge Simpson befriending Comic Book Guy and Kumiko after the foursome forms a dominant team on trivia night at Moe’s tavern....

Albie Hecht’s new digital studio Worldwide Biggies has picked up the rights to Simon & Schuster’s long-running Tom Swift book series. According to Variety, the company plans on turning the character into a feature film franchise and a video game. The story revolves around a teen genius born into a family of inventors. 2021 saw the reopening of many cinemas worldwide, meaning we, once again, were able to experience the screening of lots of incredible films throughout the year in actual theatres. LGBTQ+ cinema has been historically overlooked, or LGBTQ+ characters fall into tropes which have failed to expand or serve a secondary purpose to central characters when existing in the mainstream. Previous Oscar seasons have been abuzz with queer-centric romance successes such as Call Me by Your Name and Moonlight, and this might not seem as immediately apparent when examining this year’s Oscar contenders, however, 2021 has certainly been a strong year for LGBTQ+ cinema....
