Avatar: The Way of Water has finally hit theaters, 13 years after the release of Avatar. The sequel had paradoxically been both dismissed and highly anticipated by audiences, and being the sequel to the highest-grossing movie of all time certainly put big expectations on it. Avatar: The Way of Water was projected to open with $150 to $170 million, but came in a little bit below with $138 million. During Comic-Con a few weeks ago, a Warner Bros. rep shot down rumors that Peter Jackson’s two-part Middle Earth prequel, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, will be expanded into a trilogy. Netflix has canceled yet another unique and trippy series on a cliffhanger. The streaming service announced that Season 2 of The OA will be its last season.
