Howdy folks. It was another week filled to the brim with movie news, box office figures, new official websites to upcoming flicks and new trailers. So lets get this party started with this week’s Notables. We have some top quality names on the topline here with Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman and some bona fide talent at the helm with Christopher Nolan, whose work just keeps improving....

The Brenaissance continues with beloved actor Brendan Fraser set to lead The Whale, an upcoming drama from director directed by Darren Aronofsky, and we now have confirmation of a release date and new image from the project. Coming courtesy of Vanity Fair, it has been revealed that The Whale will be released in theaters later this year on December 9. Alongside this welcome news, we also have our first look at Stranger Things star Sadie Sink who will portray the estranged daughter of Brendan Fraser’s character Charlie....

The website Playback reports that Universal Pictures will be taking the production of The Mummy 3 to Montreal with Rob Cohen behind the camera as director. The Good A somewhat interesting idea for a horror movie. Good, nonintrusive sound. The Bad The FX, the acting, the presentation and just about everything else. Okay, I am starting to think that there is a template for these kinds of horror movies. Get some young actors and actresses. Set them in a small town with a few locations. Try and write the characters with some backstory that connects to something that is vaguely attached to one of the main character’s lives....

In an effort to free up shelf space, companies like Wal-Mart and Target are looking into “in-store DVD-burning kiosks.” According to Home Media Retailing, the concept would work as follows, “consumers could buy any movie they want by browsing on a computer connected to the Internet. Once a consumer requested a title, the movie would be downloaded while the consumer waits, and then either burned to a DVD or downloaded directly to a mobile device, such as an Apple iPod or a Sony PSP....

When one thinks of haunted houses combined with a horror movie, they might think of the Conjuring house or maybe the iconic house in The Exorcist. However, for this article, actual haunted houses; attractions that one can actually go to and get scared by cheap costumes and jump scares, are going to be featured. It’s a classic trope in the horror genre; a group of teenagers/young adults heading out to find the scariest and sketchiest haunted house they could possibly find, leading them to torture, death, and usually ends with one lone survivor....

The new Netflix movie trailer The Good Nurse transforms Eddie Redmayne into a serial killer with Jessica Chastain catching on to his crimes. Inspired by true events, the film is based on the killings of real-life serial killer Charles Cullen. The film will be coming to select theaters on Oct. 19 before its Netflix release on Oct. 26, but you can watch the official trailer below. The Good Nurse is directed by Academy Award nominee Tobias Lindholm and written by Academy Award nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns....

Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo has teased the action thriller pedigree of his upcoming Netflix outing, The Gray Man, comparing the project to one of the most well-regarded examples of the franchise, Michael Mann’s Heat. The Gray Man will see two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, go head-to-head, with Russo reminded of the match-up of Robert De Niro and Al Pacino way back in the 1995 heist flick....

Something’s lurking in the water… again. Warner Bros. Pictures is set to release The Meg 2: The Trench, the sequel to 2018’s The Meg, next year. The first film told the story of a group of scientists encountering the titular gigantic prehistoric shark. The Meg is an adaptation of 1997’s Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror by author Steve Alten. Audiences were hooked, and the film saw a worldwide gross of more than $530 million....

Musical fans rejoice! American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy is getting back in touch with his Gleeful roots for the upcoming series The Politician for Netflix. The streaming service released the first images from the project. The Politician is an hour-long satire spearheaded by Tony winner and Pitch Perfect’s lovable magician, Ben Platt. It follows wealthy student, Payton Hobart (Ben Platt), as he navigates the political landscape of his Santa Barbara high school on a treacherous journey to become Student Body President, get accepted at Harvard, and ultimately become president....

The Good This is one of those films that you find yourself thinking about for a long time after you’ve screened it. The Bad Some of the plot points in this film didn’t make sense. The Quiet plays for the most part how it looks in it’s promotional pictures. A disconnected family that looks perfect on the outside has their world upended when Dot (Camilla Belle), a deaf and mute girl, comes to live with them....

The Walking Dead returns to AMC this October for Season 3, and no one is more excited than still breathing former Sheriff Rick Grimes, aka Andrew Lincoln. The actor reveals that he’s been given the rough plot outline for the upcoming first eight episodes, and it is a run that will shock even the most die-hard fans of the comic book. Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan has closed a deal to star in the FX Networks comedy series pilot Death Pact, from Rob Long and Tad Safran, it was announced today by Nick Grad, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development, FX. Production of the single-camera, half-hour pilot episode will take place this summer in New York or New Jersey. Death Pact was co-created by Rob Long (Sullivan & Son, Cheers) and Tad Safran (The Long Weekend), who also serve as Executive Producers/Writers....

True Blood begins its ten-episode, Season 7 Sunday, June 22 at 9:00 p.m. Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, the series takes place in a world where vampires and humans co-exist, after vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source.
