Yahoo! Movies has just released the first trailer for the upcoming thriller The Next Three Days, which will be released in theaters everywhere on November 19. Life seems perfect for John Brennan until his wife, Lara, is arrested for a gruesome murder she says she didn’t commit. Jon Bernthal made his debut as the fan-favorite Marvel Comics anti-hero in Daredevil season 2, which prompted Netflix to give the character his very own show. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 comedy-horror musical. The movie was based on a 1973 stage show created by Jim Sharman and Richard O’Brien, who played Riff Raff. In “The Diving Bell and Butterball,” the first of three hair-raising Halloween tales, a venomous spider bite leaves Homer paralyzed, but when Lisa discovers Homer’s ability to communicate through natural gases, he is able to express his love for Marge....

Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Nancy Utley and Stephen Gilula announced today that the company has acquired worldwide rights to the inspirational true story The Surrogate. Directed and written by Ben Lewin, The Surrogate stars John Hawkes as Mark O’Brien, Helen Hunt as Cheryl Cohen Greene and William H. Macy as Father Brendan. The film was produced by Judi Levine of Suchmuch Films and Stephen Nemeth of Rhino Films and is scheduled to be released in 2012....

Just yesterday we reported that The Three Stooges directors Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly do not have a cast lined up for their comedy yet. Today, the directors revealed that they want Cher to play the nun character Mother Superior. It seems that Cher agreed to the part years ago when filming a cameo for the brothers’ comedy Stuck On You, when they believed The Three Stooges would be their next project....

Netflix’s upcoming third season of The Umbrella Academy is “massive” and “has a completely different energy” to what has come before, teases star Emmy Raver-Lampman. Speaking with Collider, Raver-Lampman, who stars in The Umbrella Academy as Allison Hargreeves AKA The Rumor AKA Number Three, is also hoping that, despite delays, the third season will land on Netflix in the summer. Creating a “different energy” seems to be something that The Umbrella Academy revels in, with the second season feeling distinct from the first....

One of the big news items yesterday was Marvel and Disney’s announcement that Thor 2 is moving foward, with a release date set for June 26, 2013. Today, the studios hired screenwriter Don Payne to write the script for their new sequel. Don Payne was one of the credited writers who worked on Thor, which has taken in over $437 million worldwide since its release in May. Marvel and Disney still need to find a director, though, since yesterday’s report indicated Thor director Kenneth Branagh is not returning for Thor 2....

Roger Ebert has denied that the use of the “thumb system” has been prohibited on his syndicated series At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ebert is in the middle of contract negotiations with Disney-ABC Domestic Television concerning the show. Ebert and the family of the late Gene Siskel own the thumbs-up/thumbs-down trademark. This week’s season premier of At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper was absent a showing of thumbs....

After recently conquering the San Diego Comic-Con it only seems fitting that the people behind the smash hit Heroes would now sit down and discuss the upcoming Heroes: Season 1 DVD/HD-DVD release. Recently, Heroes creator Tim Kring and star Masi Oka (Hiro Nakamura) took time out of their busy schedules to discuss this and other topics. Tim, can you talk about the Heroes road show junket? Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig have signed on to star in IFC’s comedy series The Spoils of Babylon. We reported last month that Will Ferrell is starring in the six-episode program. The story is an “adaptation” of a novel by fictitious author Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell), which tells the epic story of the Morehouse family. This wealthy family controls an oil conglomerate, the seventh largest company in the world. Tobey Maguire is playing Devon Morehouse, who was adopted at a young age by Jonas Morehouse and his daughter Cynthia (Kristen Wiig)....

Fans of David Simon and his brilliant cop show The Wire, which focused on Baltimore’s relationship to law enforcement (particularly facing the drug trade), may or may not have heard of his 2010 drama television series Treme. According to Variety, for the first time in its history, TV Land is opening its doors to original scripted programming. Projects in the works include a revival of Mr. Magoo and Us and Them, a laffer from John Markus (The Larry Sanders Show) and Bill Persky (Who’s the Boss) previously set up at NBC. Also in development are several reality pilots – one starring a Dr. Phil-style show starring Mr. T and another about pop culture’s biggest jump-the-shark moments – as well as several specials....

Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to the Gabriel Allon novel series by Daniel Silva for a new spy movie franchise. Former NBC/Universal CEO Jeff Zucker will be on board as a producer. The books center on Gabriel Allon, a former Mossad agent who killed six of the terrorists responsible for murdering six Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics. These days, he makes his living as an art restorer, although he still takes on the occasional covert operation....

The man everyone loves to hate, Uwe Boll, has just teamed up with Freestyle Releasing. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they will be distributing three films together. In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale is the headliner in this package. Based on the Dungeon Siege videogame, the film stars Jason Statham, Ray Liotta, Ron Perlman, Leelee Sobieski, John Rhys-Davies, Matthew Lillard and Burt Reynolds. It will open January 18th, 2008 all across America....

For years, fans have been captivated by the life and career of the world’s most famous comedic singer-songwriter. WGN America has picked up a second season of its first original, scripted drama Salem, it was announced today by Matt Cherniss, President and General Manager, WGN America and Tribune Studios. Salem, which is being renewed three episodes into its first season, is produced by Fox 21 and co-created and written by Brannon Braga and Adam Simon, who also serve as executive producers with Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh S. Barry of Prospect Park and David Von Ancken....
