Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics executives have been meeting to look at a possible new direction for film adaptations of popular DC comics adaptations. Both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter report that Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov and Warner Bros. Pictures president Kevin McCormick have been meeting with DC executives and top talents such as Jim Lee to discuss the possibilities. It seems likely that Warner Bros. and DC is looking at the success Marvel has had with Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk in linking their films into a more cohesive universe....

According to Variety, the WGA (Writer’s Guild of America) plans to picket the Golden Globes ceremonies on Jan. 13, assuming it’s still on strike at that point. The move means that actors are unlikely to cross the picket line, although SAG (Screen Actors Guild) said only that it was seeking reaction from members who have been nominated before announcing its plans. A WGA spokesman confirmed the decision to picket, a day after the WGA turned down a request for a waiver from Dick Clark Prods....

With only two episodes left to air for Season 1, ABC has axed the David Hemingson created series Whiskey Cavalier. Starring Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead) and Scott Foley (Scandal), the action comedy series will conclude its run on the network after eleven total episodes. Weighing in on the imminent end of the show, Cohan spoke about the unfortunate news on Twitter. If there is one animated show that absolutely exploded in the last year, it is without a doubt Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty. The show had a tremendous first season, but it caught on like wildfire in season 2, and now fans are absolutely clamoring for more. Warner Bros. Television Group has announced today that the studio has fired Arrowverse producer Andrew Kreisberg, just weeks after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced. We reported on November 11 that the producer had been suspended by the studio, after 15 women and four men came forward with allegations of sexual harassment in the workplace. The studio revealed in a November 11 statement that they had suspended Andrew Kreisberg pending an investigation into allegations of his sexual misconduct in the workplace....

The CW Network unveiled the schedule for its 2010-2011 season today at a presentation for advertisers, affiliates and national media in the Theater at Madison Square Garden, where singer Katy Perry rocked the house to open the show. The announcement was made by Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment, The CW. “After just four short years as a network, The CW will premiere our strongest schedule ever this fall, with a combination of hit shows and exciting new series giving us all-original programming five nights a week for the first time,” said Ostroff....

Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is back to filming this week in Vancouver, Canada, Gilliam and the U.K.-Canadian co-production’s producers said Monday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmakers also confirmed widespread rumors that Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law will participate in the completion of the film, which shut down after the sudden death of actor Heath Ledger on Jan. 22. “Since the format of the story allows for the preservation of his entire performance, at no point will Heath’s work be modified or altered through the use of digital technology,” the producers said in a statement....

The 2010 remake The Karate Kid will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 5. Production has been under way on Game of Thrones Season 7 since early September, and with the show’s premiere pushed from the spring of 2017 to the summer of 2017, filming may still be ongoing for quite some time. The show has already shot in two major locations, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and in Seville, Spain. But now the show has shifted to another location, the coastal city of Dubrovknik, Croatia....

Director Mikael Håfström is in talks to board The Tomb for Summit Entertainment. Antoine Fuqua had previously been set to direct, at a time when Bruce Willis was attached to star. The story centers around Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone), a security expert who designed a prison that is believed to be inpenetrable and escape-proof. When he is set up and sent to the very prison he helped create, he must try to outsmart himself to escape and clear his name....

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, they, and their home video shingle, Genius Products, have put together “two five-year pacts with RHI Entertainment, a leading TV movie and miniseries producer known for its Hallmark Hall of Fame line.” According to the deal, “the Weinstein Co. will co-produce and co-finance new TV movies, series and miniseries; under the other, Genius will serve as the North American home video and digital distributor of the former Hallmark Entertainment’s library of more than 600 titles....
