It looks like Kurt Sutter has just lined up his next series, courtesy of Netflix. The Sons of Anarchy and Mayans M.C. co-creator has struck a deal with Netflix to create a new western series called The Abandons. The plan is for the series to consist of hourlong episodes that come with all of the gritty action we’ve come to expect from Sutter’s stories, but this time set in the Old West....

We reported yesterday that the ongoing strife between actors unions and Warner Bros. could lead to the studio taking The Hobbit out of New Zealand. Since that story was published, SAG, AFTA and NZ Equity have issued retractions on their “Do Not Work” orders. However, a statement, which Deadline received, indicates that The Hobbit may still be filmed elsewhere. Here’s the statement released by Warner Bros.: Variety is also reporting that one of the “alternative locations” being explored is the United Kingdom....
Maya Entertainment and Open Window Films have acquired The Jesuit, an action-packed drama written and scheduled to be directed by Golden Globe nominee Paul Schrader (Director of American Gigolo, Affliction; writer of Taxi Driver and Raging Bull). Making a movie can be an extremely time-consuming and, most importantly, incredibly expensive task. Naturally, this tends to vary from one project to another, but, generally, a large amount of money is destined to the salaries of the filmmakers and actors involved, especially if they are star figures, to building sets, designing costumes…let alone if the film requires CGI or special effects. And in order to ensure that all this money spent on the production is an investment rather than squandered money, the film must do one thing: attract the interest of lots of people so that they buy tickets to watch it....
When Thor: Love and Thunder hit cinemas last month it came without a number of MCU cameos that were not only planned but seemingly filmed with stars like Peter Dinklage, Lena Heady and Jeff Goldblum all making guest appearances that were left on the cutting room floor.
