Deadline reports that The Mentalist star Simon Baker has finalized a new deal with Warner Bros. Television. His contract is now said to be worth upwards of $30 million, which adds another year to his current six-year commitment to the show. The actor, who plays Patrick Jane on the CBS series, will also be credited as a producer starting in Season 5, and he will also receive a bigger cut of the back end revenue....

This will be the first Spanish-language version of the sitcom. The Good A gem of a movie gets a solid release on DVD. The Bad Nobody knows about this film.The Vicious Kind isn’t a perfect film. However, what made me interested in the first place is that this film, which was written and directed by Lee Toland Krieger, is executive produced by Neil LaBute. Yes, that Neil LaBute. Anybody that makes In the Company of Men and Your Friends and Neighbors deserves some attention, and the fact that he has executive produced this movie means that if you liked those other movies than you should see it....

The world of The Witcher on Netflix will soon be expanded for an upcoming spinoff series on the streaming service. Since debuting last year, the show has been among the most popular of the streamer’s original programming, so Netflix is apparently capitalizing with this new companion series in addition to the main show’s upcoming second season. Dubbed The Witcher: Blood Origin, the live-action limited series will consist of just six parts and won’t be an ongoing series like The Witcher....

Every single film this summer seems to be opening a day earlier than expected. It’s just to grab a couple extra weekend dollars at the box office. Money, that’s what it’s all about. According to Dreamworks, Transformers will follow suit with the trend. Michael Bay will be opening his giant robot movie a day earlier than he originally intended to. That’s right. Now you don’t have to wait until July 4th to see it....

We haven’t seen much of Charlie Cox since Netflix’s Daredevil came to an abrupt end in 2018. Cox disappeared just like his masked vigilante parkours off into the rooftops after an alleyway brawl. He’s been acting, but mostly in lower profile fashion than leading a hit Marvel series. Most notably he’s starred onstage alongside fellow Marvel actor Tom Hiddleston for the hit play Jerry, the Irish TV drama Kin, stopped in as Matt Murdock for a minute cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and an episode of She Hulk: Attorney at Law....

UPDATE: 11/12/10 1 PM PST -The Wrap spoke with cinematographer Wally Pfister, who said they would shoot parts of The Dark Knight Rises in IMAX, but not the entire movie. Here’s an excerpt from the article: However, Pfister did reveal that he still isn’t officially signed on for The Dark Knight Rises, although he has served as cinematographer on every Christopher Nolan movie since Memento. As far as the format war goes, file this under “Inevitable.” In a story from Video Business, Venturer Electronics will be releasing a “Chinese-manufactured HD-DVD player” for the fourth quarter. Called the SHD7000 the new unit “will be priced at $199, according to a company representative, which would make it the cheapest stand-alone HD-DVD player available today.” Thus far the cheapest HD-DVD unit has come from Toshiba at a cost of $299....

Hulu’s Welcome to Wrexham proved to be docuseries gold when it hit screens late last year.
