The Crown began as a depiction of the life and times of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch in British history. The series opens with the marriage of a young Elizabeth to Phillip Mountbatten just as her father, King George VI, begins to suffer from rapidly declining health. As her father passes away, Elizabeth’s mourning is promptly interrupted by the many duties and responsibilities of assuming the British crown to which she is heir....

The Good This film is the Best Picture of 2006. The Bad No Extras. I know they are releasing this movie in a Special Edition and it upsets me that that wasn’t the one I was given. The Departed brings us Martin Scorsese in the genre he is known for, leading high caliber actors to amazing performances and heightening every scene with either dialogue, editing, or action that enhances the story....

Shortly after Supergirl was renewed for Season 2 and shifted from CBS to The CW, rumors started to spread about a four-show crossover, between Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, which was eventually confirmed, with the episode airing to big ratings last month. It was also confirmed that the back half of the season will feature a musical crossover between The Flash and Supergirl, which comes on the heels of last season’s unprecedented crossover between The CW’s The Flash and CBS’ Supergirl, which is likely one of the factors that lead The CW to bring in Supergirl....

Some movies are purposefully made to be funny. We have the Adam Sandlers and the Adam McKays of the world tot hank for that. Comedies bring us together, and help us laugh at those moments in life that otherwise might bring us sadness or stress. Some other movies, however, only become funny because of how poorly put together they are, or because of how misguided their message seemingly is. Production has begun on a fresh reboot of The Munsters by Rob Zombie which will reintroduce the classic show’s characters in an all-new movie adaptation. After construction had completely finished on the set, which was designed specifically to look like 1313 Mockingbird Lane from the original TV show, Zombie unveiled three main cast members along with the characters they’ll be playing. Along with Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster and Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily, the reboot will also star Daniel Roebuck as The Count himself, Grandpa Munster....

The Good This is a great movie featuring gifted actors and a gifted director. The Bad I wish there would have been more featurettes focusing on magicians. Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman) and Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) are great friends in The Prestige. They work together as magicians, each one complementing the other. Then one night, a trick goes terribly wrong and Angier vows to get revenge on Borden. Once that is exacted, we see these two men going after one another’s secrets in the most sly of ways....

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has shown off its immense budget throughout the series, with breathtaking shots of the New Zealand area where it was filmed. The series, which debuted on Sept. 1 earlier this year, is undeniably grand in scale leading to more than two years spent filming the first season alone. Fans are hoping for a faster turnaround between seasons 1 and 2 of The Rings of Power, as multiple years of filming would set the project back quite a bit with the VFX and post-production work required....

The Tribeca Film Festival today announced that the world premiere of Cameron Crowe’s documentary The Union will open the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by American Express. A performance by the film’s subject - Elton John - will follow the free, outdoor screening to kick off the Festival’s 10th edition and thank the New York City community for its ongoing support. The Union will premiere on Wednesday, April 20 at the North Cove at the World Financial Plaza....

Bob Iger certainly has his work cut out for him after his return as Disney CEO, replacing his chosen successor Bob Chapek immediately following the shocking announcement on Sunday. Having to lead the Walt Disney Company through everything from political scandal to a global pandemic, Chapek didn’t do well enough for the Board as the House of Mouse lost faith after the Disney+ service operating loss increased from $0.8 billion to $1....

The Weinstein Co. has picked up worldwide film rights to the Pulitzer Prize and Tony-winning play August: Osage County and will produce a feature adaptation, according to Variety. TWC co-chairman Harvey Weinstein will join Jean Doumanian and Steve Traxler as producers of the pic, with playwright Tracy Letts doing the adaptation. Weinstein said his company will fully finance and distribute the film with an eye toward a 2011 release. Weinstein and Doumanian have already received calls from reps of interested actresses who’ve seen the play....

What do people automatically think of when they hear Michael Keaton mentioned in casual conversation? It could be Batman, Beetlejuice, or maybe even Birdman. He’s created some iconic characters over his 70 years, and his cinematic range has been a treat to watch. Keaton began his acting career in the 1970s, with small television roles in Maude, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Afterwards, he began leading bigger, mainstream films as the title character in Beetlejuice and, of course, as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman and its sequel Batman Returns....

The latest trailer for This England, which details the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom and Boris Johnson’s first few months as Prime Minister, reveals more of Academy Award winner Kenneth Branagh as the failed leader. Released courtesy of the official Twitter account for SkyTV, the trailer also reveals that all six episodes of This England, formerly titled This Sceptred Isle, will launch on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW on 21 September....

While speaking to The DisInsider about his return to the Marvel fold, Roth revealed some details about his next appearance that were not yet known and possibly would have been held back a little longer if Disney and Marvel Studios had their way....

Tina Fey has signed on to star in The Intern from writer-director Nancy Meyers. Paramount Pictures is finalizing a deal to finance and distribute the comedy. The actress will portray a successful e-business owner, whose company starts a community outreach initiative to bring in “senior” interns. While the businesswoman thinks she’ll have a high school or college senior assistant, she discovers her intern is a senior citizen, a 70-year-old man who finds retirement boring....
