A decade after the announcement, the Hollywood remake of the Indonesian action thriller, The Raid, is finally happening at Netflix. Michael Bay will serve as a producer along with XYZ Films. Gareth Evans, the director of the 2011 original, will executive produce. Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3, The Hitman’s Bodyguard) will direct The Raid remake and also co-write the screenplay with James Beaufort. Deadline reports that the coming adaptation of The Raid will be a “reimagining” and is “set in Philadelphia’s drug-infested ‘Badlands,’ an elite undercover DEA task force climb a ladder of cartel informants to catch an elusive kingpin....

While pimping there latest bank heist thriller The Bank Job, writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais were asked if they were planning a sequel to their Beatles musical Across the Universe. While there may be a staged production of the film at some point, they aren’t focusing on the Beatles, per se, for their next project. They are instead turning to The Rolling Stones. At this time, they have a planned animated feature that will incorporate The Stones’ music much the same way Across the Universe did with the Beatles music....

Marvel artist Andy Park has added to the already overwhelming hype surrounding the upcoming MCU sequel Thor: Love and Thunder, describing the continuing adventures of Chris Hemsworth’s Godly superhero as “pushing the boundaries of what’s comfortable,” while doing things that audiences will not expect. What this means specifically is somewhat unclear, but considering that Thor: Love and Thunder will reunite director Taika Waititi with star Chris Hemsworth and add Oscar winner Christian Bale to the fray, it’s no wonder that the Marvel outing is so impressive....

Marvel Studios announced today that Patty Jenkins will direct Thor 2, which will be released in theatres on Friday, November 15, 2013. Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman will return to star in the film along with Tom Hiddleston. Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige will produce the sequel to this summer’s blockbuster Thor, which has grossed over $448 million worldwide to date. Patty Jenkins previously directed Monster starring Charlize Theron, who won an Academy Award for her performance in the film....

It seems that Universal Pictures is going back to the original screenwriter of a popular action franchise for the next film installment. Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Universal has brought back Tony Gilroy to write The Bourne Legacy. Gilroy previously wrote the first two films in the series - The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy - and co-wrote the last film in the trilogy, The Bourne Ultimatum, with George Nolfi and Scott Z....

Longtime character actor Tony Sirico has passed away at the age of 79 and his friends from The Sopranos are saying their farewells. Born in New York in 1942, the young Sirico frequently found himself in trouble with the law as a young man. He turned his attention to show business after an acting troupe visited him in jail.
