The Drew Carey Show: The Complete First Season, a four-disc collector’s set, will include all 22 episodes of the series’ premiere season, as well as a retrospective documentary and gag reel. The set will retail for $39.98. One of TV’s longest running comedies, The Drew Carey Show is a fast-paced half-hour series, which depicts life through the eyes of comedian Drew Carey and his life-long gang of Cleveland friends....

RED announces that Peter Jackson’s two film adaptation of The Hobbit will be shot in 3D using RED DIGITAL CINEMA’S soon to be released EPIC Digital Cameras. The successor to RED’s industry changing RED ONE, the EPIC has 5K resolution, can shoot up to 120 frames per second and has a new HDRx™ mode for the highest dynamic range of any digital cinema camera ever made. Director Taika Waititi has revealed how the re-appearance of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster will affect Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder in the upcoming Marvel sequel Thor: Love and Thunder. And it sounds like it will be a lot. Speaking with Empire Magazine, the filmmaker described Foster’s comeback as a “mindf—” for the former Avenger, especially considering what she’ll be wearing. Rather than the mild-mannered scientist, Jane Foster will emerge in Thor: Love and Thunder with her own set of superpowers as The Mighty Thor....

The Phantom is getting another shot at life, this time on the Sci-Fi Channel (although it’ll be known as SyFy by the time the series airs.) RHI Entertainment is adapting superhero from the pages of the Sunday comics, along with Riverworld (based on the series by Philip Jose Farmer) and a new adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. All of the projects will be done as four-hour movies on the network....

Marvel has officially announced that it’s “time to reload” for The Punisher Season 2. Many expected that there would be another installment to the critically acclaimed Punisher on Netflix, but Marvel decided to let the cat out of the bag early. Jon Bernthal first appeared as Frank Castle in season 2 of Daredevil. He probably will not appear in other Netflix titles which will likely precede The Punisher season 2, which include the on-the-way second seasons of Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist....

The Simpsons left viewers on a cliffhanger in 1995, channeling their own version of the 1980s show Dallas’ Who Shot J.R.? episode with Who Shot Mr. Burns? Throughout the summer of 1995, fans of The Simpsons speculated about who in Springfield could have had the motive to shoot Mr. Burns, which was a lot of people. In the end, it was discovered that Maggie Simpson had attempted to murder Montgomery Burns, but it wasn’t always that way, according to writer Josh Weinstein....

Producers of The Simpsons have decided to pull the Michael Jackson episode of the show from circulation. The decision was made after the release of the Leaving Neverland documentary, which recently premiered on HBO and goes into the child molestation allegations against the King of Pop. The documentary has been criticized by many, but for some, there is too much evidence to ignore and some radio stations have started to pull Jackson’s music from rotation....

The show has received positive reviews so far, with The Hollywood Reporter describing it as “tenderly written and endearingly acted,” though it isn’t without criticism. Platinum Studios, Inc., an entertainment company that controls an international library of thousands of comic book characters which it adapts, produces and licenses for all forms of media, confirmed today they are now developing sold out comic book series The Weapon, to bring to the big screen. Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, CEO of Platinum Studios and producer of Cowboys & Aliens, will act as producer on the film. Platinum Studios stands today as one of the largest rights holders of exploitable comic book characters in the world, still independent of Hollywood studio ownership....

Henry Cavill is Geralt in Netflix’s The Witcher series and we now have a better look at him. The streaming service has released some brand-new images to tease the upcoming series. In addition to Cavill’s Geralt, the images tease Yennefer and a giant clawed monster, which may have just been taken down by Geralt’s sword. Netflix has not yet announced an official release date for the series, but a now-deleted tweet seemingly confirmed December 14th to be the day....

Considering Tom Cruise has been the lead star of some pretty big movies over the last four decades, Top Gun: Maverick could well give him his biggest opening box office of his career. Despite having some of the biggest movies of the last decade, including several big Mission: Impossible movies, Cruise’s highest opening weekend haul to date was a domestic debut of $64.8 million for 2005’s War of the Worlds. Based on the latest predictions detailed in The Hollywood Reporter, it looks like Top Gun: Maverick could give him his biggest domestic box office opening by a long way....

Your DVD player is going to be taken over by robots. In a story from Davis DVD, it looks like Paramount Home Entertainment will be bringing out Transformers this November! Sadly, we have no information on price, formats or what the DVDs will contain at this time. DreamWorks has posted the Transformers teaser trailer on the film’s official website transformersmovie.com. Gremlins, Critters, Munchies, Ghoulies, there’s been more than a few “tiny scary monster” movies in the past few decades, all of them with varying degrees of quality. While Gremlins and arguably Critters stand out as some of the better films in this weirdly-specific subgenre of horror, it’s not exactly one that’s looked upon fondly. Most will understandably dismiss anything that’s not Gremlins as something trying to simply ape the success of it, and for good reason — they usually are....

Val Kilmer is reteaming with his Real Genius buddy Jon Gries for a feature film about a real-life alcoholic who reinvents himself and puts hundreds of kids through college via his charitable donations. Deep in the Heart stars Gries as Richard Wallrath, a Texas entrepreneur who is the biggest all-time individual donor to that state’s 4-H and Future Farmers of America organizations. Kilmer plays a character known only as “The Bearded Man,” and he resides in Wallrath’s mind as a “Christ-like figure” to help him on his path to recovery, said Scott Duthie, who is co-producing the independent film....

Netflix has officially confirmed that the popular romantic drama series Virgin River will return for at least two more years. This confirmation from Netflix comes just weeks after several rumors circulated with reports that season four of Virgin River was in fact moving forward. With the popular series making its return for two more seasons, Netflix has also confirmed to be making a commitment to produce more “comfort” content, USA Today reports....

You can walk further down the line on DVD this March. Walk the Line is coming out in an extended edition on March 25. The new two-disc version will include 17 minutes of new footage as well as new special features.
