Howdy folks. It’s been two whole weeks since my last column, but I’m back with a vengeance to tackle the news bits, box office info, new official websites for upcoming movies and new trailers from the past seven days. First lets check out what I watched last week. WHAT DID GALLAGHER WATCH LAST WEEK? Yellow Rosalyn Sanchez stars, produces and even has a story credit in this lackluster dance drama about a young dancer in Puerto Rico who dreams of escaping her slum and dysfunctional family to be a famous dancer....

Like most shows or movies adapted from literary works, Netflix’s hit series The Witcher is not exactly a one-to-one translation of its original source material. This was made evident in its first season, with the show’s attempt to adapt the short stories from both The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny. Each story was tied together into a single, long-running narrative that gave the audience the impression that the show had an end goal that it was trying to reach as opposed to simply being about the titular Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, on the job like the books portrayed him....

Well, another year has come and gone, and thus it’s tradition to turn back the clock and go over these past 12 months and look at what it’s brought us. So I will delve through all of my 2005 The Week in Review columns and analyze the crap out of them, picking out the best and worst for each category. When veteran actor Peter Sallis passed away in 2017, fans were unsure of the future of Wallace and Gromit. Serving as the first and only voice for Wallace, since the duo’s big debut in 1989’s A Grand Day Out, there were big shoes to fill. But the official Wallace and Gromit Instagram account has pulled back the curtains and revealed that the part will be taken over by Ben Whitehead....

Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed the first full-length trailer for the upcoming crime drama The Town, directed by Ben Affleck, and opening in theaters on September 17. Dimension Films has preemptively purchased the spec script The Greys from writer Adam Cohen and from producing partners Sean and Bryan Furst. F. Javier Gutierrez (Tres Dias aka Before the Fall) is set to direct the film. The announcement was made today by Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company (TWC). The logline of the sci-fi thriller is currently being kept under wraps. “We are thrilled to be collaborating on this exciting script with Adam Cohen, Radar Pictures and The Fursts,” said Bob Weinstein....

Out in the desert in an area called “sector 16” some Army dudes have been building some stuff. Doesn’t really matter what, it’s just fluff to the story. Sector 16 is out in Nevada or someplace. Or Utah. Or..who cares. They used to test atomic weapons there and now there’s some creepy mutant guys roaming around killing people. The Army guys get killed and some Army privates who are failing in boot camp are sent in to investigate....

The Hallmark Channel is a staple of the holiday season. Whether they’re screening Christmas classics or new favorites, the network releases a slew of original films to enjoy. This year, Hallmark is set to release 40 new holiday movies to their channel, and among those is a very special first for the network – a gay Christmas rom-com! The Purge, which debuted in 2013 and earned a whopping $89 million at the box office, starred big names like multiple Emmy-nominee Lena Hadley and Ethan Hawke. With the initial success of the first film, it was not surprising that the series went on to spawn an entire franchise. The Rings of Power premiered Thursday night, bringing fans back to the beloved land of Middle-earth and beyond while introducing a new generation to the world created by J.R.R. Tolkien. The series, based on the appendices of Tolkien’s work, is sure to drive away some fans as it strays from the set-in-stone history that’s been established. However, from a pure fantasy standpoint, The Rings of Power has everything necessary to be a smash-hit for the planned five-season run....

Another day, another fantasy book series bought up by a major studio. According to Variety, it’s Warner Brothers who have done the deed this time. Scrambling to have something in production once Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows disappears from theaters in 2009, the company has purchased the rights to Terry Brooks bestselling fantasy series The Shannara. The novels are set some thousand years in the future, when elves, gnomes, and dwarfs rule the planet....

On October 30, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will launch its definitive new series of Three Stooges DVDs with The The Three Stooges Collection: Years 1-3. This first volume includes all 19 shorts from the boys’ first three years at Columbia. The two-reelers are chronologically organized by their original release date and painstakingly restored from the original negatives for the very best picture and audio quality....

After nearly eleven seasons of The Walking Dead, the popular zombie series is coming to an end. Based on Robert Kirkman’s graphic novel series of the same name, The Walking Dead has arguably become a staple in the zombie genre. Produced by AMC and released initially in 2010, the series follows human survivors of a zombie-pocalypse as they travel in search of safety, freedom, and the cause of the zombies. What makes The Walking Dead a remarkable example of character development is its continual focus on exploring the human condition throughout each season....

AMC has unveiled two clips, a promo, and new photos from next week’s episode of The Walking Dead, “I Ain’t a Judas”, airing Sunday, February 24 at 9 PM ET. The first scene features Rick (Andrew Lincoln) chatting with his son Carl (Chandler Riggs), who thinks dear old dad shouldn’t be the group’s leader anymore. The second clip shows a conversation between Merle (Michael Rooker) and Herschel (Scott Wilson) that leads into an extensive behind-the-scenes featurette with several cast members talking about where their characters are heading....
