That’s a wrap on The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Netflix has opted not to move forward with the show based on Jim Henson’s classic movie, which means the fantasy series will be concluding its run after just one season. This comes after the show recently won a Creative Arts Emmy for Best Children’s Program. Netflix confirmed the news in a statement, as did Jim Henson Company CEO and executive producer Lisa Henson....

A new The Exorcist trilogy is on the horizon. Based on the 1971 book of the same name by William Peter Blatty, the first The Exorcist film debuted in theaters nearly 50 years ago to positive reviews. Additional sequels and prequels were released in the decades that followed, including a short-lived television series on FOX. While first advertised as a reboot, it was confirmed by Observer in December 2020 that the new project was actually a sequel to the original 1973 film, taking place in the present day....

A trio of upcoming films have altered their release date schedule, with Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg’s upcoming fighting film settling into a prime holiday release date. eRc Box Office is reporting that The Fighter will bring the boxing drama to theaters on December 10. The film stars Mark Wahlberg as the title character with Christian Bale portraying his brother and trainer. The site is also reporting that a pair of Paramount animated films have also altered their release schedule....

To help celebrate the release of The Lord of The Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy Blu-ray, which hits stores on June 28th, AMC theaters is bringing all three Extended Edition films back to screens for one night only. The three movies will play over the course of three weeks, with The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring screening on June 14th, The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers screening on June 21st, and The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King bringing the trilogy to its climactic and Oscar-winning end on June 28th, the release date of The Lord of The Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy Blu-ray....

When people think of comic book adapted movies today they usually think of super-hero films like “The Dark Knight,” “Iron Man” or even the resent hit “Kick-Ass.” But there are more than just super-hero comics to adapt from. “30 Days Of Night” was a horror film adapted from a comic, as was the sci-fi movie “The Surrogates” and the mystery film, “Whiteout.” In order for the comic book adapted movie to survive Hollywood will have to continue to find new and different kinds of films to make from the plethora of ideas in your local comic book store....

Yes, everyone’s favorite bawdy, brunette Brooklynite Midge Maisel has finally returned for season four, albeit long after anyone, viewer and writer alike, might have expected. The much-beloved The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has been on something of a hiatus for the reason that ought to be obvious to anyone who has been alive for the past few bonkers years. Regardless, true fans remember that turbulent times had befallen our intrepid comedienne in the previous season’s finale....

The NeverEnding Story is still fondly remembered as a classic 80s children’s fantasy, and that means that it is ripe and ready to be the latest nostalgic property to get a reboot in the near future. The original movie based on the novel by Michael Ende was a German movie directed by Wolfgang Peterson was a hit on its release in 1984, and spawned two sequels, which have not been remembered in quite the same way....

British actor Chris Vance (Prison Break, Burn Notice) has landed the lead role of Frank Martin in The Transporter TV series, which will debut on Cinemax next year. We first reported on this series, which is based off the 2002 action movie The Transporter, back in March. Luc Besson, who wrote all three of The Transporter movies, will executive produce the new series, although it isn’t known if he also wrote the pilot script....

The Unhealer is headed to streaming this month, bringing the gore and revenge for our high schooler tormented by his bulllies. When the bullied teenager gains the means to fight back after a botched faith healing bestows supernatural, shamanistic powers upon him, the tables are turned. When his lifelong tormentors pull a prank that causes the death of someone he loves, the teen uses his newfound abilities for revenge and goes on a bloody rampage to settle the score....

After months of delays The Walking Dead is back on track. AMC has confirmed that filming is underway once again on the hit zombie series. As has been the case with man productions during 2020, the show was forced to hit the pause button back in March in the interest of health and safety. Now, work has begun on the remaining episodes of season 10. The news was confirmed by AMC via The Walking Dead social media accounts....

AMC’s The Walking Dead has had quite a successful run for over a decade. Season 11, which was split into three parts, is set to be the show’s final season. Many fans were left shaken by the news, given that they had followed the show through its numerous plot twists for more than ten years. It is reported to have come as a shock not only to viewers but also to the show’s creative team as well....

The official website for Universal Pictures’ The Wolfman has launched in time for tomorrow’s full moon! The new site features a synopsis of the film, videos, photos, features sections on “Lycanthropy” and the “Universal Monster Legacy,” as well as get downloads such as wallpapers and icons. The Wolfman opens in theaters February 12. Directed by Joe Johnston, the film stars Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving and Art Malik....

Many directors have played a pivotal role both behind the camera and in front of the lens, from Jack Nicholson and Dennis Hopper to the films of early pioneers like Buster Keaton and Charles Chaplin. An innovative filmmaker often stands the test of time, with work remaining relevant and great over the years and even reaching new generations. Superb work will undoubtedly live on, and largely because of the director’s vision....

Film and fashion go hand in hand and the 90s were a decade of very specific fashion. Visual arts are always working together to accomplish a similar goal. In film, when we implement fashion, the two visual arts are working together to create a world in which the story would take place. Fashion inspires film and film inspires fashion; the two work together hand in hand. Specifically, 90s outfits and fashion acts as a bit of a time capsule for the films released in that decade....

Tim Kring and Zachary Quinto talk about this immensely popular series returning for its third season The time is almost here for the highly-anticipated third season of Heroes, which comes back with a three-hour event on Monday, September 22 starting at 8 PM ET. The event will kick off with an hour-long companion show that will serve as a countdown to the two-hour premiere at 9 PM ET. I was recently in on a conference call with series creator and executive producer Tim Kring and actor Zachary Quinto, who plays the villainous Sylar....

The Time Bandits TV series is still happening and it just took a major step forward. We first heard that Terry Gilliam’s 1981 classic was getting the small screen treatment last July. At the time, details were quite scarce, but it was revealed that Apple is behind the series with Gillian involved as a producer. Now we have word that Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi has boarded the project as a writer, director and producer....

Time Warner Cable announced the launch of a promotional campaign for the company’s Road Runner Turbo High Speed Online service in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming live-action, high-octane family adventure Speed Racer. The campaign will leverage Time Warner Cable’s VOD platform and www.RoadRunner.com providing exclusive content and a sweepstakes giving visitors the chance to win a Mazda Speed3. “We are very excited to partner with Warner Bros. and their new film Speed Racer,” said Sam Howe, Chief Marketing Officer for Time Warner Cable....

Animation has come a long way since its inception in the early 20th century. Decreasing production costs and new technology have allowed animation studios to imagine more vivid worlds than could be dreamt of in the realm of live-action. In particular, the 2000s television landscape included some of the best animated content ever created, and Gen Z is an incredibly lucky generation for having grown up with these series. Despite the fact that huge parts of the audience for these television shows are children, all of them defy the unfortunately popular cultural assumption that animation is “for kids....

We can all agree that being introduced to a new show, falling in love with it, and then having it canceled after a season with a cliffhanger is the worst. It’s been happening more often these days, but it’s nothing new to the television industry. There is a long list of TV shows that were canceled before there prime. But, fortunately, a lucky few were continued into movies to give their fans more content and closure....
