THINKFilm has acquired North American rights to In the Shadow of the Moon, a documentary directed by award-winning filmmaker David Sington that brings together the surviving crew members from the Apollo missions to tell their stories by interweaving stunning archival footage with first-hand testimony. The deal was announced by the company’s President and CEO, Jeff Sackman, who plans to release the film in theatrical engagements in 2007 in association with Discovery Films....

Variety reports that visual effects artist Tim Ollive will direct the new mixed-media adventure 1884 with Terry Gilliam serving as both a producer and “creative advisor.” This intriguing project will actually re-imagine a futuristic 1884 beset with flying cars powered by steam and a man who has landed on the moon. A tale of imperialistic espionage, Tim Ollive will utilize a mix of animation with live-action puppetry and CGI. The background imagery will be a blend of period photography, miniatures and graphics....

There’s a new Velma in town, and her name is Mindy Kaling. At the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation on Wednesday, Kaling appeared on stage to address Velma, an animated Scooby-Doo reboot series. Kaling touched on the social media backlash the series had created with some Scooby-Doo fans complaining about the change in skin color for Velma, a traditionally white character. “Hopefully, you noticed my Velma is South Asian,” Kaling said, per Deadline....

Production on AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead has temporarily shut down after stuntman John Bernecker died as a result from injuries sustained on set. Bernecker was placed on a ventilator Wednesday after the accident, having fallen more than 20 feet and missing his safety cushion. The show was filming at Raleigh Studios in Atlanta, Georgia when the accident occurred. AMC released a statement yesterday to say that they were “saddened” by the news of the serious injuries while also announcing plans to postpone shooting of the season for an undeclared amount of time....

A24’s Bodies Bodies Bodies, the directorial debut of Dutch star Halina Reijn, is equal parts hilarious and horrifying.
