According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal’s Doom, an R-rated sci-fi actioner based on the video game, opened in the top spot during a lukewarm weekend at the boxoffice but clearly lacked the firepower for which its namesake is known. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stars in Doom, which was helmed by Andrzej Bartkowiak and opened with a disappointing estimate of $15.4 million. Not surprisingly, the audience for Doom, whose price tag was conservatively placed in the $60 million-plus area, was largely young, male and familiar with the video game....

Partway through production, Wednesday has lost a main cast member. In the works at Netflix, Wednesday is a new take on The Addams Family from filmmaker Tim Burton which stars Jenna Ortega as a college-aged Wednesday Addams attending college and solving old mysteries. Its stacked cast also included Birch, but her character will be scaled back a bit after the actress flew back home from the set in Romania with no plans to return to complete her written scenes....

Lately, several comedians have come under fire for jokes which many consider as going too far and crossing a line. More recently, actress-comedian Tiffany Haddish and comedian Aries Spears have been brought into a legal fray for allegedly for grooming and coercing two siblings into filming two separate sexually explicit skits in 2013 and 2014. The allegations have created a huge backlash online, with thousands of people commenting on Haddish and Spears’ alleged behavior....

Tom Cruise has been making a number of surprise appearances in the U.K. while filming Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1, and most recently he was seen out and about in the Lake District where he was performing a helicopter stunt. Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 will allegedly bring Tom Cruise’s franchise to a close, although that is something that has already been disputed by director Christopher McQuarrie, but one thing for certain is that if it is Cruise’s swan song as Ethan Hunt, he is going out with a bang....

British actor Tom Hardy has replaced Michael Fassbender in the cast of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, according to The Playlist. We reported back in July that Michael Fassbender had signed on for the new Tomas Alfredson film, though it seems the actor left the project after landing the role of Magneto in X-Men: First Class. Tom Hardy will now play “Tricky” Ricky Tarr, a British operative who helps George Smiley (Gary Oldman) discover the identity of a highly-placed mole in the British secret service in the Cold War era....

We reported way back in December 2008 that Shia LaBeouf was starring in an adaptation of the John Grisham novel The Associate. Now The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Tony Scott is close to making a deal to direct the project. The site reports that Scott is, “just a step away” from coming aboard the film and, if he joins the project, he will be directing from a script by the Oscar-winning screenwriter of The Departed, William Monahan....

Daniel Tosh and the Tosh.0 staff have been laboriously trawling the internet for months and are armed with a new arsenal of entertaining content to unleash on the fans. The highly-anticipated fourth season of Tosh.0 debuts on Tuesday, January 31 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT and is followed by the series premiere of Key & Peele at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. In the premiere episode, Daniel puts an end to the speculation about his replacement as host in which he held an open casting call in Los Angeles during the Season 3 finale episode....

For a long while, there were a lot of questions over whether Val Kilmer would be returning to his role of Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in Top Gun: Maverick, but the new trailer has featured a first look at Kilmer as “Admiral Kazansky,” which fans have been ecstatic to see. While his appearance in the trailer is just a photograph and a name check, there is no doubt that the star will make an appearance in the film, although it is expected to be a short one in light of the actor’s health issues....

The Walking Dead season 10 poster puts the focus on some fan-favorite characters. The key art for the series in the past has typically featured Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes. However, the character is no longer on the show as of last season, so we’re seeing Norman Reedus’ Daryl, Melissa McBride’s Carol, and Danai Gurira’s Michonne take over and it looks like they mean business. A lot of characters from the hit AMC show have come and gone over the past nine installments and now fans are going to be bidding farewell to Gurira’s Michonne during the highly anticipated season 10....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald have optioned the rights to the Richard Matheson novel “Earthbound.” Parkes/MacDonald Productions is partnering up with Imagenation Abu Dhabi, which joined forces with the producers in October to fund development of their feature projects. “Earthbound” is Parkes/MacDonald Productions maiden acquisition done outside of DreamWorks Studios. The producers have a first look deal there. The book focuses “on a married man who starts an affair with a young stranger, only to realize that she may actually be the ghost of a long-dead woman driven by something much more than earthly passion....

Warner Bros. Discovery still wants to keep Leslie Grace as Batgirl in the DCEU after pulling the plug on her solo movie recently. The studio axed the nearly finished, $90 million-priced Batgirl as part of its “cost-cutting” measures, and the poor test scores didn’t help either. Although, some reports suggest that the test audience score of Batgirl was the same as that of Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, but WBD just didn’t want to spend any more money on the film to tweak it and canceled it altogether....
