Many avid gamers have anticipated HBO’s new adaptation The Last of Us, some hesitant and weary given the poor track record of video game to film adaptations. Others remained cautiously optimistic with the promising-looking trailers and have expressed their approval that thus far the show hasn’t disappointed and strayed too far from its origins. But all adaptations whether they be from books or video games will have some changes and alterations since it is after all a different media....

The CW has put in some new show orders for the 2021-2022 television season, including a live-action adaptation of the cartoon series The Powerpuff Girls. All in all, the network announced three pilot orders along with one straight-to-series pickup. One of the pilot orders is for the new The Powerpuff Girls, which was first announced back in August. The CW must like what they’re seeing in the script as the plans to shoot a pilot episode are now official....

The Proud Family was a Disney original series that followed Penny Proud and her family — her parents Trudy and Oscar, her twin siblings Bebe and Cece and her grandmother Suga Mama — as they navigated life in all its hilarious glory. The series ran from 2001 to 2005 and was a huge success at the time of its release, eventually becoming one of the most popular shows ever to be released by Disney....

Spoiler Warning: The Umbrella Academy Season 3 The Umbrella Academy, a Netflix original series that introduced audiences to a wide range of quirky characters, each of whom gave a unique and powerful performance, recently released its third season. Though there was little fanfare surrounding this most recent installment of The Umbrella Academy, that did little to diminish the excitement of the series’ ardent viewer base. Said viewers, who have come to expect the unexpected in this absurdist, reality-bending comic book adaptation, were undoubtedly satisfied in their cravings for abnormal storylines by the utterly ridiculous plotlines of season three....

You can bring home the entire first season of a popular CW Network series on DVD and Blu-ray at the end of August. The Vampire Diaries: The Complete First Season will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 31. The five-disc DVD set will be priced at $59.98 SRP and the four-disc Blu-ray set will be priced at $69.97 SRP. Both sets will contain all 22 episodes of this first season and you can take a look at the cover art and special features for both sets below....

It is not too far from the truth to say that Netflix was fully committed to The Witcher before a single episode had even aired on the platform, with the second season being renewed before the December 2019 debut of the first season, and at the time showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich revealed that she had a seven season plan for the series if it was allowed to get that far. In an interview with Collider after the recent premiere of The Witcher’s Season 2, Hissrich said that her initial seven season pitch is something that makes her laugh, because she could have said a much higher number....

Tony Danza has joined the cast of the Untitled Joseph Gordon-Levitt Project, which was formerly known as Don Jon’s Addiction. The actor will reunite with Joseph Gordon-Levitt for the first time since starring in the 1994 comedy Angels in the Outfield. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will star as a womanizing porn addict, who goes on a quest to become less selfish. Scarlett Johansson will play his girlfriend, and Julianne Moore is portraying a widow who the main character meets at night school....

Turning Red has been a topic of conversation since it was released last year. The movie received an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. This is not director Domee Shi’s first Academy Award nomination, even if Turning Red is her directorial debut on a feature-length film. Shi directed and wrote the animated short film Bao, which won an Academy Award. Nevertheless, her feature film is a milestone for Pixar and representation....

Let it never be said that Tyler Perry doesn’t know how to get things done. The prolific filmmaker behind the Madea franchise pulled off the seemingly impossible recently. At a time when much of Hollywood has grinded to a halt, Petty managed to film more than 80 episodes of four different shows at his studio in Atlanta, Georgia. Though not without its issues, the experiment proved to be hugely successful and may provide a path forward for the industry....

That’s a wrap on Renfield. A horror-comedy movie following Nicholas Hoult as the titular right-hand man of Count Dracula (Nicolas Cage) himself, Renfield is scheduled for a release in April 2023. A full year ahead of its planned premiere, Universal Pictures has announced with an image from the set that the movie has wrapped. The Walking Dead alum Sarah Wayne Callies has signed on to star in the USA Network pilot Colony alongside Josh Holloway. The show centers on how life in Los Angeles has changed after an alien invasion occurs. Josh Holloway is playing former FBI agent Will Bowman, who reluctantly joins forces with the occupying alien government to get rid of a strong resistance group within their colony, so he can protect his family....

Controversial director Uwe Boll is making headlines once more, but this time he isn’t boxing critics or suing film festivals. Producer Bob Van Ronkel is suing the German director for $1 million, claiming his name was intentionally misspelled on the credits of In the Name of the King 2: Two Worlds. The lawsuit alleges that Bob Van Ronkel’s name was purposefully changed to “Rob Van Runkel,” after the producer and director clashed over Bob Van Ronkel’s producers fee....

Director Steven Spielberg is back in top form with his excellent film adaption of War Horse. Already a famed children’s book, and Tony Award winner for Best Play, Steven Spielberg may find himself holding the Best Picture Oscar for this epic film. Jeremy Irvine, in his feature debut, stars as Albert Narracott; a poor but spirited English farm boy. His father’s drunken attempt to buy a plow horse gets him Joey, a magnificent colt....

Warner Bros. Discovery has some strong words for folks on social media. According to Variety, when Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling, voiced support for Salman Rushdie on Twitter, she got a few concerning responses. It was when a commenter stated a “you’re next” that the mega media conglomerate stood up, issuing the following. The situation started on August 12th, when Salman Rushdie was attacked by a male suspect. The author was on stage in New York giving a live discussion about the United States being used as an asylum for writers and other artists....

All great things must come to an end. And that’s certainly true for MTV’s hit horror drama Teen Wolf. Though as popular as it has ever been, the Network decided to pull the plug on the show after this next new run of episodes. Though, six years on the air isn’t bad for a TV series based on an old Michael J. Fox movie from the 80s. Though, as fans know, the Teen Wolf of old and this new version couldn’t be further apart....
