The first three minutes of the Pilot for Grimm Fairy Tales: The Animated Series has been unleashed, along with a new poster, after a successful Kickstarter campaign raised enough money to fund the production. The animated series is based on the Zenoscope Entertainment comic book Grimm Fairy Tales, which is the longest-running independent color comic. Lena Headey, Chris Hardwick, and Briana Evigan lend their voices to the show, which takes the Grimm fairy tales and puts them in a modern-day setting, with these characters battling for control over mankind....

Lionsgate has announced Weeds: Season Seven will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD February 21. The DVD set will be priced at $39.98 SRP and the Blu-ray will cost $39.99 SRP, with both sets containing all 13 episodes of the season. Many fans are unhappy to see Westworld cut off from having one last season to properly conclude its story, and that has led to a rise in signatures on a petition created for HBO to renew the series for season 5. The petition, which you can find at Change.org, was originally created when there were reports of Westworld’s creators still having discussions with HBO about whether or not there would be another season....

The biggest cultural war of the last decade in Hollywood is one that is currently threatens to end the film industry as we know it. For many years now, theaters have been flooded with flashy, big-budget superhero movies. Filmmakers who prefer to make more grounded, character-driven content, most notably Martin Scorsese, have repeatedly dismissed superhero movies as “theme park rides” that cannot be considered “real cinema.” In 2022, an interesting phenomenon was observed where many superhero movies struggled to succeed at the box office, or at least failed to triumph in ways they had before....

Although The Vampire Diaries Universe ran for thirteen successful years, the final show in the franchise, Legacies, concluded after four seasons. While it may be argued if the Legacies series finale was a massive conclusion for the franchise as a whole, it did an excellent job of wrapping up loose ends for the show. But should The Vampire Diaries Universe continue? After so many heroes, villains, redemption arcs, rising from the dead, and doppelgängers, the franchise may be better left to its conclusion rather than recreating a new set of characters and stories within the universe....

Hong Kong residents have been warned to expect a week of noisy evenings as a low-flying aircraft and helicopter film scenes for The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins, according to NineMSN. Thousands of letters have been sent out by the film’s production company telling residents that a helicopter and a C130 aircraft will swoop low over downtown areas to film the city’s evening skyline. According to the letter, the production company will do everything it can to “restore tranquillity … as early as possible....

Actor Josh Pence, who last appeared as the Winklevoss body double in The Social Network, will star as a young Ra’s Al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises. Not much is known about his character arc in the sequel, although it is said he will appear in scenes set 30 years before the primary story. Liam Neeson portrayed Ra’s Al Ghul in the 2005 adventure Batman Begins. We reported in February that Marion Cotillard signed onto star in The Dark Knight Rises....

Actor Bruce Campbell took to his Twitter account today to answer some of his fans’ questions about The Evil Dead remake he is producing with Sam Raimi, Robert G. Tapert, and new director Federico Alvarez. Much to the chagrin of many fans, though, Bruce Campbell revealed that his iconic character Ash will not be present in the remake. Here are two of his tweets below from this afternoon. When we spoke with Bruce Campbell at Comic-Con 2011, the actor indicated there may be a possibility he could make a cameo appearance in The Evil Dead, although he would not divulge any specifics....

In 2015, a manga series called The Girl From the Other Side was released in Japan. It was serialized in Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Garden for over six years, ultimately becoming eleven volumes by the end of its run. The Girl From the Other Side was well-loved by fans globally when it was translated into English, and, in 2019, a ten-minute anime adaptation was made to appease the fanbase. But now, a year after the manga ended, another full-length feature has been created following the success of the ten-minute version....

The upcoming HBO series, The Last of Us, sports an odd duo of showrunners: one who created the original video game and its sequel and another with no experience creating or adapting video games. Neil Druckmann, the gamer, created The Last of Us in 2013. On the other hand, Craig Mazin is known for creating and writing the Chernobyl historical miniseries, which earned dozens of awards, including several Emmys. Variety reports that Fox has traveled across the pond to find its “Union Jackass,” a comedy pilot starring British character actor Al Murray. The net has also greenlit the drama “Drive,” a sudser revolving around an “Amazing Race” competish, but on acid; and CBS has ordered the grandpa/grandson laffer “Generations.” On the casting front, “MASH” veteran David Ogden Stiers is set to return to network TV in Fox’s “Worst Week of My Life,” while Balthazar Getty and Chazz Palminteri have landed roles in upcoming pilots....

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was created by Amy Sherman Palladino, who also writes, directs, and executive produces the series alongside her husband, Daniel Palladino. The series follows Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan), a recent divorcee and mother of two who tries to start a professional career in stand-up comedy while also navigating life as a woman in America in the 1960s. One of the best ways to discover new movies from other countries is to see which ones do well at international awards ceremonies. In the United States, foreign films almost never get a theatrical release except sometimes in small art theaters in big cities. Even then, the selection is often heavily skewed: you might find art films like The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) or films from auteur directors like Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite (2019), but this is only a tiny fraction of the thousands of movies made around the world....
