Today, CBS All-Access has released a new video for the rebooted anthology, which announces a start of production for the upcoming streaming series. The all-too familiar Twilight Zone theme music creeps up to transport us into another dimension, as shooting begins on the first episode....

United Artists Entertainment LLC (UA) announced today that it has secured $500 million in financing through Merrill Lynch, one of the world’s leading wealth management, capital markets and advisory companies. The arrangement provides the studio with financing for the production of 15 to 18 films over the next five years. The specific terms of the transaction are not being disclosed. UA’s slate will include a combination of films it develops itself, films that are co-produced or co-financed with other major studios or independent partners, and films that may be acquired through negative pickups or other distribution agreements....

Continuing the momentum of the Social Action campaign begun during the theatrical release of director Davis Guggenheim’s landmark documentary Waiting for Superman, Participant Media is encouraging people to purchase the DVD or Blu-ray and join thousands of people across the United States gathering for home viewing parties. The House Party initiative hopes to continue the discussions sparked by the award-winning film about public education and encourage people to get involved in helping to improve the nation’s educational system....

You can bring home an innovative animated documentary home on DVD and Blu-ray this June. Waltz with Bashir will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on June 23. We don’t have any cover art as of yet, but the standard DVD will be priced at $28.96 SRP and the BD will be priced at $39.95 SRP. We’ll update this story with the cover art as soon as it’s available. The film stars the voices of writer-director Ari Folman, Dror Harazi, Ron Ben-Yishai and Ronny Dayag....

Warner Bros. Pictures International has crossed the $2 billion threshold at the international box office, as it gears up for a fourth quarter that includes such highly anticipated releases as Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion, Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar, George Miller’s Happy Feet Two, Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, and Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve, among others. The Division hits this benchmark for the fourth time. Warner Bros. is bringing Yogi Bear to the bigscreen, developing a film version of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon, with Surf’s Up co-helmer/co-writer Ash Brannon attached to direct. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia are penning the screenplay. The project, culled from Warners’ vast library, is planned as a live-action/animated hybrid along the lines of Fox’s 2007 hit Alvin and the Chipmunks. Much of the movie will be live-action, but Yogi Bear and sidekick Boo Boo will be done in CG....

Harvey and Bob Weinstein kicked off their new Miriam Collection with the January 29 release of El Cid, and they have just announced that many more are to come. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the next disc in the brothers collection - that is named after their mother - will be Fall of the Roman Empire, which will hit the shelves on April 29. Wes Craven talks about one of his few projects outside the genre. Paris, Je T’Aime is one of the most unique collaborative projects that cinema has ever seen. The film employed 20 different directors, from all over the world, each filming their own separate segment of anything they chose and then transitions were written and directed in between each piece to create a two-hour feature film. The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 is officially happening at Hulu. Disney made the announcement this afternoon during their Investor Day presentation. In addition, Hulu released a video of the cast members, who are currently working on season 4 in Canada. Elisabeth Moss and crew thanked the fans while announcing their return to work, while sharing the season 5 renewal news. While season 4 has been delayed, it’s beginning to look like fans have a lot more to look forward to in the near future....

Vampires have seen success in the movies since Universal’s release of Dracula in 1931. Since then, they have served as villains in movies like ‘Salem’s Lot, or as more heroic figures in Twilight. Directed by Joel Schumacher, 1987’s The Lost Boys is a strong entry into the vampire genre that changed how people viewed vampires. The movie follows Lucy (Dianne Wiest), who moves her two sons, Mike (Jason Patric) and Sam (Corey Haim), to the town of Santa Carla, California....

Cameras have started rolling on The Meg 2. Per Variety, the killer shark sequel is officially started shooting in the U.K. at Warner Bros.’ Leavesden Studios just outside of London. This follows a recent report that the anticipated sequel was about to get production underway. Jason Statham is expected to reprise his role as U.S. Navy diver Jonas with Li Bingbing also expected to return as oceanographer Suyin. Jon Turteltaub isn’t back in the director’s chair for the sequel, dubbed The Meg 2: The Trench, as Ben Wheatley (Rebecca) has taken the directing reins....

There are two major families of fright in pop culture. One reimagines the classic Universal monsters as your standard American sitcoms like Leave it to Beaver or Father Knows Best. The other portrays a loving family of oddballs who couldn’t be happier about being different from the humdrum world around them. Both shows embraced macabre sensibilities and developed adoring fanbases. The former, of course, is The Munsters and the latter is the live-action adaptation of Charles Addams’ comics strip The Addams Family....
