A pair of new posters put both The Umbrella Academy and their variant rivals The Sparrow Academy on display. Both teams of super-powered families will come to blows as they attempt to navigate exactly what in the multiversal madness has happened when they return to screens in The Umbrella Academy Season 3, which will land on Netflix next month. Last month, we reported that AMC renewed The Walking Dead for Season 4, although executive producer/showrunner Glen Mazzara is leaving the show after Season 3. Today, the series promoted writer and supervising producer Scott M. Gimple to showrunner. The network has also released a new promo for the upcoming Season 3 episode “The Suicide King”, airing Sunday, February 10 at 9 PM ET on AMC. Real-life action man Tom Cruise does what he does best, putting his life at risk, in the latest look at Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One. Director Christopher McQuarrie took to Twitter to celebrate Cruise turning 60 years old, sharing an image of the death-defying actor hanging from a biplane mid-flight. The most-watched new TV show of the 2006-07 season, Ugly Betty was picked up for a full season order, Stephen McPherson, president of ABC Entertainment announced today. The show, based on the world’s most popular telenovela, “Yo Soy Betty La Fea,” is executive-produced by Salma Hayek and stars America Ferrera as Betty Suarez. “In just two weeks ‘Ugly Betty’ has given us an impressive foothold leading into the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ hour on Thursday night,” said McPherson....

If you’re looking to be a part of Wanted, the adaptation from Mark Millar’s graphic novel of the same name, then it’s time to head to the Big Apple. According to a posting from the New York City Mayor’s Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting, the film will be shooting in New York City between March 8 and March 17, 2008. The posting states: Wanted is the first English-language film by Russian screen-writer Timur Bekmambetov, and stars James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, and Common....

Production commenced Monday, January 30 in Los Angeles on the family mystery adventure Nancy Drew, starring Emma Roberts (Nickelodeon’s “Unfabulous”), Josh Flitter (The Greatest Game Ever Played), Max Thieriot (The Pacifier) and Tate Donovan (“Good Night, and Good Luck.”). Warner Bros. has picked up the upcoming book Crazy for the Storm: A Memoir of Survival,by Norman Ollestad that will published in June by Ecco. According to Variety, Ollestad’s memoir recounts how his father infused his love for extreme sports in him as a boy, pressing him to become a competitive surfer and skier, experience that allowed him to survive when a plane crash stranded him on an icy mountaintop at age 11....

The mystery behind Warner Bros.’ take on the events of Justice League remains a mystery. Warner Bros. technically maintains that the 2017’s theatrical version of the film is the one canon to the official DCEU timeline. Slowly but surely, The Stand miniseries that was previously announced for CBS All Access is coming together. Prehistoric Planet is an absolutely fantastic documentary. Being split into five episodes, all available on Apple TV+, we get a different environment to focus on in each entry of the series. From seeing the deserts of what we now know as North Africa to the forests of Cretaceous North America, every biome is overrun with dinosaurs that look like they could walk the Earth today. With the input of executive producer, and creative visionary Jon Favreau, this series has a lot of hype to live up to, and it certainly delivered....

For a brief moment it looked like the format war had ended. In a story from Digital Bits, it looked the war between HD-DVD and Blu-ray disc might be coming to a halt. How you might ask? Well, it seemed like Universal, the stalwart supporter of only HD-DVD titles, was going to go “format neutral” and support both next generation titles. It seemed that perhaps Blu-ray discs strong sales numbers of players and software, cheaper Blu-ray players on the horizon and the HD-DVD AACS having “been compromised,” might have finally gotten Universal Studios Home Entertainment president Craig Kornblau to start thinking about endorsing both formats....
