Mandate Pictures announced today that the company has optioned The Young, The Hot, And The Bothered, an original screenplay written by Leah Rachel. The coming-of-age comedy about the delusion, desperation, and absolute euphoria of first loves will be produced by Academy Award winning producer Dan Jinks (Milk, American Beauty, Big Fish). Mandate president Nathan Kahane (Young Adult, 50/50, Juno) will executive produce. Adam Kossack and Adam Shulman of Anonymous Content will co-produce....

Soundtracks may not be the most important component of a show, but they sure can make or break a good one. Soundtracks can be the defining element that makes a show a cult classic or a forgettable one-season wonder. The songs chosen to accompany a show, whether original or from the archives, must fit perfectly in order to be successful choices. If the song doesn’t fit with the vibe or energy of a show’s scene, it automatically throws viewers out of the world they’re supposed to be immersed in....

Star Trek: Prodigy writer Aaron Waltke revealed that the most devoted Trekkies have more than just a weekly new episode of the series to look forward to for the next eight weeks. In a Tweet sent on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022, Waltke shared the news that he had written scripts for logs recorded by Vice Admiral Janeway of the USS Dauntless in her pursuit of the USS Protostar. Tim Allen recently took a moment to remember late actor Earl Hindman, his co-star from Home Improvement known for his role as the kindly next door neighbor Wilson. On the classic comedy series, Tim Taylor (Allen) frequently interacted with Wilson, but because of a privacy fence separating their yards, only the top of Wilson’s head was ever shown. It became a running gag that continued on throughout the show’s eight-season run....

Pixar is one of the most successful departments within the Disney umbrella. The most continuously successful Pixar franchises is the Toy Story franchise. The first film of the series may have been released in 1995, and most recently continued with the release of with the new movie Lightyear. With theme park attractions in various Disney resorts and the merchandise being a year-round constant in toy stores, it’s clear that the Toy Story property is still loved and revered by parents and children to this day....

Michael Bay should be tarred and feathered for directing the steaming pile of feces that is “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”. The film is an obscenity laden, racially offensive, and sexist orgy of CGI fighting robots. It takes a beloved cartoon and bastardizes it completely. The first film was somewhat watchable. This celluloid abortion should be buried in a vault and shown to film students as an example of big Hollywood at its worst....

André Øvredal’s Trollhunter is opening in select theaters today and can still be found on VOD platforms. An American remake of the Norwegian movie has been brewing for some time now, and the project has finally found a home with producer Chris Columbus and his 1492 Pictures company. We first reported about a potential Trollhunter remake in April. Marc Haimes (Men In Black II) has been hired to write the screenplay for 1492 Productions, which is teaming up with CJ Entertainment & Media on the remake....

The Good This film oozes realism in every frame. Nobody doled out justice like The Duke. The Bad I wish they had recorded John Wayne talking about this movie and then they cut that into the commentary track. True Grit is the well told tale of U.S. Marshall, Rooster Cogburn (John Wayne). Directed by Henry Hathaway, this film follows Rooster, a drunk and burly sort who is hired by Mattie Ross (Kim Darby) to find the man who killed her father....

After eight epic seasons of high-stakes romance, adventure, and drama, The Vampire Diaries will conclude its run with the upcoming 2016-17 season. The announcement was made today at San Diego Comic-Con by executive producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec. The panel concluded with a farewell video from the cast and producers, which featured an exclusive premiere of the new song “Changing Tides,” by The Fray. The use of music by The Fray continues a long association between The Vampire Diaries and the rock band, which dates back to the beginning of the series and the use of the song “Never Say Never” in the pilot episode....

Wilson Fisk actor Vincent D’Onofrio recently weighed in on who would win in a fight between Kingpin and Thanos. With the Netflix’s Daredevil criminal mastermind’s entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Hawkeye, several fans are once again asking the age-old question of “who would win in a fight” in a hypothetical stand-off between Kingpin and some of the other big bads in the franchise, especially the Mad Titan himself. The Walt Disney Studios and ImageMovers Digital (IMD) today announced that they will close operations at IMD’s Marin County facility after production is completed on Mars Needs Moms. The IMD facility is expected to be closed by January, 2011. “Bob and the entire IMD team successfully built a state of the art studio and produced an amazing film, A Christmas Carol, at a time when the dynamics of the industry are rapidly changing,” said Alan Bergman, President of The Walt Disney Studios....

Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling is still very much in a partnership with Warner Bros., despite recent reports. This week, Sky News had been speaking with Tom Felton at a London press eevnt when the actor was asked about Rowling. Before Felton could answer the question, an unnamed PR executive told the reporter to ask the next question, not allowing any comments about Rowling’s controversy. Reportedly, Sky News later asked the PR company about the situation, and they received a response claiming that Rowling is “not connected to Warner or Tom Felton,” making the question “not relevant to the piece....

With its debut less than two weeks away, Showtime has made the full pilot episode of Ray Donovan, “The Bag or the Bat”, available for viewers right here. Liev Schreiber stars as the title character, a “fixer” who solves the biggest problems for L.A.’s elite citizens. Series star Jon Voight, who plays Ray’s father, introduces the episode, which debuts Sunday, June 30 at 10 PM ET on Showtime. Westworld has picked up an Oscar winner for its newest cast member. Per Deadline, Ariana DeBose, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, has landed a role in Westworld’s fourth season. A new image, seen above, has also been released of DeBose in character. The news comes shortly after it was announced that the series returns to HBO in June....

Pictures has ended months of speculation about The Dark Knight Rises by confirming Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Gotham City beat cop John Blake, who is assigned special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman). Marion Cotillard has also been confirmed for this trilogy ending sequel, taking on the role of Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) get his business back on track....

Back on April 1st, Warner Bros. “caught” fans of the viral marketing game for The Dark Knight with a trick on ClownTravelAgency.com. Fans expected a message from Heath Ledger’s Joker, but were instead caught by Gary Oldman’s Commissioner Jim Gordon. Now, e-mails have been sent to those who left their addresses at ClownTravelAgency.com. The message reads as follows: My friend, Indictments are about to be handed down. If you don’t want your name on one, we’ll need your full cooperation in an upcoming operation....

Heath Ledger died of an accidental overdose of painkillers, sleeping pills, anti-anxiety medication and other prescription drugs, the New York City medical examiner said Wednesday, the AP reports. The cause of death was “acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine,” spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said in a statement. The drugs are the generic names for the painkiller OxyContin, the anti-anxiety drugs Valium and Xanax, and the sleep aids Restoril and Unisom....
