You can bring a Keanu Reeves remake home in both formats this April. The Day the Earth Stood Still heads up to DVD and Blu-ray on April 7. Sony Pictures Classics announced today that they have acquired all North American rights to Sylvain Chomet’s The Illusionist from Pathe. The film is based on an unproduced screenplay by Jacques Tati and is produced by Bob Last and executive produced by Jake Eberts and Philippe Carcassonne (Coco Before Chanel). The Illusionist had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival as a Berlinale Special Selection. It is planned for an end of year release....

Those venturing out to see Cars 2 in 3D this weekend will be treated to a special preview of The Lion King 3D. Starting tomorrow, June 24th, the first four minutes of Walt Disney’s timeless classic will play before the all-new animated Pixar short Toy Story: Hawaiian Vacation. The latest Stephen King adaptation is coming to DVD. Stephen King’s The Mist is rolling to DVD on March 25. The film will be released in both a single-disc edition and a two-disc collectors edition. The single-disc will be priced at $29.95 and $32.95 for the collectors edition. Sadly, we have no cover art to display. The film stars Thomas Jane, Andre Braugher, Marcia Gay Harden and Laurie Holden. First published in the 1980 horror anthology “Dark Forces”, Stephen King’s novella “The Mist” takes place in a Maine town where a thick mist engulfs the area, killing those caught in its darkness....

CBS All Access has announced the first round of casting for season two of its original anthology series The Twilight Zone reboot will include Morena Baccarin, Colman Domingo, Ethan Embry, Jenna Elfman, Tavi Gevinson, Tony Hale, Abbie Hern, Gillian Jacobs, Sophia Macy, Joel McHale, Chris Meloni, Billy Porter, Jimmi Simpson and Daniel Sunjata. Each will appear in an episode of the upcoming 10-episode second season, slated to premiere exclusively on CBS All Access in 2020....

AMC’s The Walking Dead season finale Sunday night reached a series high, pulling in six million viewers for the show’s sixth episode, including four million adults 18-49. That’s up 9% from last week, according to The Hollywood Reporter. If you include the show’s 11 p.m. encore, the finale delivered a whopping 8.1 million viewers. According to AMC, The Walking Dead has become the most-watched basic cable series of all time in the young adult demo....

The Walking Dead has been building to the confrontation with Negan’s Saviors since the midseason premiere. “Not Tomorrow Yet” has the dramatic showdown, but the results are decidedly negative for the Alexandrians. Tensions during the episode rise as multiple characters cement new relationships while ending others. You get the ominous feeling that the producers are softening up the audience for a major blow. It seems the cast of an action-packed straight-to-DVD prequel is rounding out its cast. According to Moviehole, Tom Berenger is in talks to play the lead in Smokin’ Aces 2: Blowback. Berenger would play a federal agent who must protect a witness against an onslaught of hitmen and thugs trying to kill her, one of which will be AK-47, the sister of the Tremor Brothers from the first Smokin’ Aces film....

Tom Holland has set his sights on Jak and Daxter with the hopes of one day doing a dark and “weird” live-action adaptation of the video game series. Recently, Holland was asked by GameSpot to name his dream video game adaptation he’d like to take on next after first starring as Nathan Drake in Uncharted this month. The gamer and actor was quick to name Jak and Daxter, though he’d like to see the live-action spin put a twist on the story....

Top Gun: Maverick’s Jennifer Connelly recently stepped into the “nepo baby debate,” although she doesn’t know what a nepo baby is and why it is being debated at all. The actress is starring in the film Bad Behaviour, the directorial debut of the movie’s writer and star Alice Englert, who by definition is a nepo baby. However, when the subject came up in a recent interview with IndieWire, Connelly clearly sees the whole thing as a non-issue....

I distinctly remember seeing Tron in the theater as a child. It blew my mind, like the first time you see Star Wars or Indiana Jones. Twenty eight years later, Disney releases Tron Legacy, a techno-fueled visual effects extravaganza that takes the 3D and IMAX formats to their highest levels yet. Unfortunately, the story, character development, and pacing were not given the same TLC afforded to the effects. I can’t say I’m disappointed because the film is very entertaining and incredible to watch....

Heading to the small screen for his next big role, Sylvester Stallone stars as mob boss Dwight “The General” Manfredi in the Paramount+ series Tulsa King. The streamer revealed a first look image of Stallone in the role, which marks the first time he’s served as the star of a scripted TV series. The series has also undergone a name change as it was titled Kansas City when it was first announced....

Sony Pictures has handed out an October 12, 2012 release date for the Untitled Kathryn Bigelow Project. The studio acquired the project back in May. Director Kathryn Bigelow will reunite with The Hurt Locker screenwriter Mark Boal for this new story, which is based on the Navy SEAL Team 6’s mission where terrorist Osama bin Laden was killed. Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal were already working on a similar project, which revolved around the several unsuccessful attempts made to kill bin Laden....
