The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan went back behind the 65mm lens, filming over an hour of footage in the IMAX format for the film. The director also shot a large amount of IMAX footage for 2008’s The Dark Knight, where he first saw how much impact the format had with an audience. Lionsgate and the filmmakers of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire are pleased to announce that Maria Howell has been cast in the role of Seeder in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. A former victor from District 11, Seeder competes in the 75th Annual Hunger Games, also known as the Quarter Quell. Maria Howell is an Atlanta, Georgia based actress, singer, and voiceover artist best known as the choir soloist from the movie The Color Purple....

Shudder has just released the official art for their The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs series. Briggs is back after a 2018 horror marathon that broke the internet and horror fans are taking notice. The icon is ready to grace us with his presence every week in his new series, which debuts at the end of this month. To celebrate, Shudder has released the key art by illustrator Justin Osbourn and it’s perfect....

Hollywood icon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recreates an equally iconic image of Black Adam in the latest look at the upcoming DC outing. Released courtesy of Black Adam producer and Johnson’s frequent collaborator Hiram Garcia, the image finds The Rock sitting atop a throne made out of stone, perfectly bringing to life an image created by artist J.G. Jones and which adorned a Black Adam comic book cover back in 2007’s 52 #45....

Johnny Depp isn’t one to wait around. While Walt Disney Pictures continues to decide the fate of Lone Ranger, the actor is moving forward on The Thin Man, a remake of the classic 1934 mystery comedy starring William Powell. David Koepp, writer and director of Johnny Depp’s 2004 thriller Secret Window, has been hired to adapt the screenplay for The Thin Man. The story revolves around a retired detective who solves a murder with his wife solely for the fun of it....

The Winchesters will delve into the history of Supernatural and tell the story of the parents of Dean and Sam Winchester “in the early days of their epic love story.” Now the first image of Jensen Ackles back in his role of Dean Winchester has been released ahead of the series arriving on The CW in October. Ackles, who has been a big part of the production, will act as a narrator the new show, but will not have an active role in the story itself, which takes place years before Supernatural, making the actor the only original cast member to return....

The Weinstein Company has nabbed North American distribution rights to the Paolo Sorrentino directed road drama This Must Be the Place. Sean Penn stars in the film as an aging Goth rocker fashioned after The Cure’s Robert Smith who goes on the hunt for a Nazi that once tormented his recently deceased father. This Must Be the Place grabbed a lot of recent attention at Cannes, where some distributors hoped to get the rights in order to push Sean Penn’s award worthy performance....

Freeform is home to several teen dramas and young adult shows. Over the years, Freeform has used its platform to tell average day-in-the-life narratives and relatable stories that touch on essential topics and real-life circumstances. Several of Freeform’s shows, including The Fosters, Good Trouble, Switched At Birth, and Cruel Summer, have, in some way or another, touched on topics that have delivered storylines to people who may never have personally experienced such events....

Fans of the TNT series Leverage hoping for a Christmas miracle/renewal will sadly not get what they want. Series co-creator/executive producer Dean Devlin revealed today that Leverage will not be picked up beyond Season 5. The season finale, “The Long Goodbye Job”, will also serve as the series finale. Dean Devlin and co-creator John Rogers teased a few weeks ago that “The Long Goodbye Job” is the way they saw the series ending, if TNT decided not to renew the show....

Tobey Maguire has signed on to star in the indie black comedy The Details, written and directed by Jacob Estes. According to Variety, Maguire joins Elizabeth Banks in the film about a struggling married couple who, already struggling with issues like infidelity and whether they should stay married, see their lives further complicated by ravenous raccoons burrowing under the sod in their back yard. A disagreement over how to dispatch the pests creates a chain reaction of mishaps that include a murder by bow and arrow...

The prequel to Yellowstone, 1883, is getting a major addition to its already loaded cast. Two-time Oscar-winner Tom Hanks will be introduced in the second episode of the new show playing General George Mead in a guest-starring role. The episode will feature General Mead looking down at James Dutton (Tim McGraw) after the brutal Battle of Antietam in the Civil War. The Civil War battle claimed over 22,700 soldiers on both sides, which marks the bloodiest day in American history, one in which James Dutton nearly died....

Autobots, roll out! The next installment of Paramount’s Transformers film series is on the way, as Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set to hit theaters next summer. The seventh installment in the film series, Rise of the Beasts, is a sequel to 2018’s Bumblebee based primarily on the franchise’s Beast Wars storyline. The Transformers franchise has seen success at the box office, though that did not translate into critical success....
