Any death that happened outside the audience’s view is considered an off-screen death. We can get confirmation of the death through the image of a corpse, a character’s pain and tears, a fade to black, or verbal confirmation, all without seeing the moment of death. Sometimes off-screen deaths are the only choice after we lose an actor that the filmmakers don’t want to replace. Other times, the off-screen death was the most moving way to crush our souls at the loss of a favorite character....

The Daily Mail recently caught up with actor Tom Hiddleston, who is set to play Loki in the big screen adaptation of the popular comic book Thor. About the character, Hiddleston stated, “Loki’s like a comic book version of Edmund in King Lear, but nastier. Loki’s skilled in black magic and sorcery. He’s a shape-shifter and has all sorts of super powers from the dark arts. He can turn clouds into dragons, things like that....

Two For the Money is one of those movies that doesn’t seem like a Universal film. Having covered the picture at an early screening and some press junkets, I was somewhat surprised to learn that a movie starring Al Pacino, Matthew McConaughey and Rene Russo was made for $20 million dollars. Somehow, that type of investment is seen is “lower budget” in today’s often inflated movie world. Yet, this film is very much of the independent variety....

Lana Parilla and Yaya DaCosta will join the cast of Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer in recurring roles. The show follows Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), a Los Angeles-based attorney working out of various Lincoln vehicles. He’s joined in those efforts by his two ex-wives, Maggie (Neve Campbell) and Lorna (Becki Newton), his driver/unofficial sponsor Izzy (Jazz Raycole), and his investigator Cisco (Angus Sampson), who’s also Lorna’s new fiance. Parilla will play Lisa Trammell, a beloved chef and community advocate struggling to keep her restaurant afloat while a predatory real estate developer threatens the surrounding neighborhood....

XCellent Creations and Pussy Eating Club have debuted the latest two posters for Red State, which will arrive in theaters sometime in 2011. The first of these character one sheets features Ralph Garman as Caleb, and the second one features The Sons trio consisting of Michael Angarano, Kyle Gallner, and Nicholas Braun. We do not know at this time how these characters play into the story of Red State, but more will be revealed in the near future....

The versatile actress discusses her role in the latest direct-to-DVD animated feature featuring the DC Comics superheroes Lewis is perhaps best known for her performances in NBC’s NewsRadio as Beth, the sarcastic secretary to Dave Foley’s lead character. Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that the upcoming feature film Clash of the Titans will be released in 3D worldwide on April 2, 2010. The film will simultaneously be released in 2D. In making the announcement, Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures, said, “We are experienced and have been successful in the conversion of 2D to 3D going back to such hits as The Polar Express, select scenes in Superman Returns and the last two Harry Potter films....

Season 13 of The CW’s longest-running show, Supernatural, was meant to set up a backdoor pilot for the much-anticipated Wayward Sisters spin-off. However, after the episode aired in 2018, the series never came to fruition. The show was initially slated to revolve around two beloved and well-established characters, Sheriff Jody Mills and Sheriff Donna Hanscum, as they guided a group of “wayward” teenage girls to become monster hunters like Sam and Dean Winchester....

The Eagles will make their first-ever awards show performance at The 41st Annual CMA Awards airing live on Wednesday, Nov. 7 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network from the Sommet Center in Nashville. After spending two weekends at the top of the box office charts, and a third weekend that should push The Expendables pretty close to $100 million, it’s a no-brainer that creator Sylvester Stallone would jump right into making The Expendables 2 as quickly as possible. If the writer/director/actor/action icon had it his way, we’d be seeing this sequel in August of next year. Like Lionsgate’s Saw, this is a serialized franchise that could potentially happen every mid-August weekend until audiences got tired of it, or the actors were simply too old to lift a machine gun....

Francis Lawrence has been chosen by Lionsgate to direct Catching Fire, the highly-anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games. A formal offer is expected to be issued later today. We reported last week that Gary Ross passed on the sequel, which sent Lionsgate on the hunt to find a new director fast. Bennett Miller (Moneyball) was the other front runner, and it is said that both directors met with the studio today before Lionsgate made their final choice....

Paramount Pictures has announced that Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones will be released on March 13, 2009. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Saoirse Ronan, Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, Michael Imperioli, Rose McIver and Carolyn Dando. An adaptation of the Alice Sebold best-selling novel, The Lovely Bones tells the story of Susie Salmon, who is murdered, but continues to observe her family on Earth after her death. Although she is detached from the world she once knew, Susie witnesses the impact of her loss on her loved ones, whilst her killer skillfully covers his tracks and prepares to murder again....
