Recently the Two Lovers trailer was made available from Magnolia Pictures. After what seems like a very long wait, HBO has finally announced a premiere date for their sci-fi thriller Westworld. This news comes along with the announcement of two more anticipated series’ debuts. And it appears that October is going to be a very exciting month for the premium pay cable network. Entertainment Weekly reports that HBO is set to premiere Westworld on Sunday, October 2 at 9pm. Exactly one week later, on October 9, HBO will then debut new series Divorce at 10pm and Insecure at 10:30pm....

Blade Runner 2049 is a 2017 movie directed by Denis Villeneuve, and a sequel to Ridley Scott’s original 1982 movie. It stars Ryan Gosling as K, a replicant who hunts down and kills other replicants who have gone rogue. After killing a replicant, he finds a box that contains the remains of a replicant who died giving birth, proving that they can biologically reproduce. Ordered to find and kill the dead woman’s child, K sets off on a journey that leads him to detective Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) – protagonist of the original film – and makes him question humanity itself....

Malignant hit theaters and HBO Max in September 2021. With a mix of reviews ranging from good to bad, it was unfortunately swept under the rug by those who couldn’t see more deeply into the film. The summer is almost over and there were plenty of surprises, but few of those surprises were surprise success stories. Most would say that the biggest surprise success of the summer was The Hangover, which broke Beverly Hills Cop’s 25-year-old record as the highest-grossing R-rated comedy. If you ask me, that amazing success has just as much to do with the hilarious film than it does with the severe lack of straight-up adult comedies this summer....

A high-budget, action intensive film in 2022 that doesn’t have an already established mega-property behind it has become something of a unicorn in Hollywood. For every ten renditions of Batman and new Ant-Man installments, original scripts seem to be appearing less and less and when they do, the reaction is often more polarizing than an aforementioned pop culture monolith. Recent iterations of this kind of reaction could be seen with Red Notice or Cherry, and the inverse with Michael Bay’s Ambulance, where his usual critics began to praise his veer from the tropes that so heavily occupy popular filmmaking....

Open Road Films has acquired U.S. distribution rights to The Host, the big screen adaptation of Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling novel. As previously announced, The Host will be directed by Andrew Niccol (Gattaca), who also wrote the screenplay, and will star Saoirse Ronan (Hanna, The Lovely Bones, Atonement). Open Road Films has set a March 29, 2013 release date (Easter weekend) for The Host. The Host producers are Nick Wechsler, Chockstone Pictures’ Paula Mae Schwartz and Steve Schwartz, and Stephenie Meyer....

Sierra Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Games, today announced the development of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, a video game based on one of Summer 2008’s most highly anticipated movies from Universal Pictures. The game, which will mirror the fast-paced action and adventure depicted in the film, is being developed by Eurocom Studios for the Wii home video game console and PlayStation2 computer entertainment system and by A2M for Nintendo DS....

The Office is closer than ever to getting a reboot now that it’s back in the NBC family at Peacock, and series showrunner Greg Daniels has some ideas on how best to handle a potential revival. Inspired by the British series of the same name, The Office originally ran for nine seasons between 2005 and 2013. It found an even bigger audience in the years it’s been off the air thanks to the rise of streaming and the show’s popularity on Netflix for the past several years....

NOTABLES “Studios On Track to Release Fewer DVD’s in 2006” - Wednesday, July 5 Well, it looks like Open Letters are good for something after all. While 9.2 percent doesn’t seem like much of a drop, that’s over 600 fewer titles that were released this year compared to last year, which is definitely a good thing....

One of the most cherished and beloved film classics is finally coming to Blu-ray and returning to DVD with two new editions. The Wizard of Oz will be released again on DVD and make its Blu-ray debut on September 29. The film will be released in a two-disc special edition DVD ($24.98 SRP), a four-disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition DVD ($69.92 SRP) and Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray ($84.99 SRP). The Ultimate Collector’s Editiion sets will also include premium items like a collectable watch with genuine crystals, a replica of the film’s original budget, a 52-page coffee table book, Behind the Curtain and a reproduction of the original 1939 campaign book....
