The CW Network has given early pickups to three additional dramas for next season, including the first new series order of the season with The Originals, the highly anticipated spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, which was introduced during last night’s episode. The network also gave advance orders for the second season of Beauty & the Beast and the third season of Hart of Dixie. The pickups were announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW, who released the following statement....

Jerry Lewis and the Weinstein Company are going to be getting “Nutty” together. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, “Jerry Lewis and The Nutty Professor are coming back thanks to Harvey and Bob Weinstein.” The Weinstein’s are putting together an animated version of Lewis’s 1963 hit The Nutty Professor. The title will be coming out direct-to-video via the Weinstein’s newly acquired Genius Products label and Lewis will be voicing “at least two characters in the project....

Legendary director John Carpenter has revealed the ridiculous studio notes he received while developing the 1988 sci-fi classic, They Live. In a new interview with Variety, Carpenter was asked whether the studio was on board with the anti-consumerism, anti-capitalist message inherent in the movie, to which the filmmaker revealed that the studio did, in fact, request that the villainous aliens be changed from capitalists into “cannibals from outer space.” Of course, Carpenter was not willing to change the central theme of They Live....

Could the Last Man Standing revival really be happening? It’s beginning to appear so. ABC, rather surprisingly, canceled the hit Tim Allen series last year after six seasons. Since then, Allen and the producers have tried to find a new home for the series and it looks like they may well have done just that, with Fox now said to be eyeing a revival of Last Man Standing. Fox has yet to comment on the matter, but the star took to Twitter to make it clear these talks are indeed happening....

Adult Swim announced today they have greenlit a new live-action quarter hour Tim and Eric series. Tim and Eric’s Bedtime Stories is a dark comedy anthology series written and directed by Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, where episodes delve into fantasy and the unknown with the aid of celebrity guest stars and familiar faces from the Tim and Eric universe. Production on the new series begins in Los Angeles, CA in February 2014....

Tom Cruise will take to the skies in a possible battle of two aerial movies with his upcoming Flying Tigers, which features the same subject matter and title as John Woo and Terence Chang’s own Flying Tigers. Deadline New York reports that Tom Cruise is teaming up with New Regency and Fox for the project. The studios have hired Kirk Ellis to rewrite the original script by Christopher McQuarrie, which focuses on a squadron of World War II Japanese fighter pilots who are trained by an American, General Claire Chennault....

Just days after taking the title of Paramount’s highest grossing domestic release, Top Gun: Maverick has now levelled up again to take the worldwide title from Transformers: Age of Extinction. Since arriving in theaters on May 27, the Top Gun follow-up has now taken $1.208 billion worldwide, which is enough to make it the highest grossing movie in Paramount’s history ahead of the Transformers sequel’s $1.1 billion. In its eight weeks on release, Top Gun: Maverick has broken record after record, and while it is only Paramount’s third highest grossing movie at international level, clinching the record for worldwide gross is a huge achievement....

WandaVision kicked off Phase 4 of the MCU in January 2021, effectively ushering in a new era of Disney+ series. While The Dark Knight Rises is still currently shooting in Los Angeles, the cast and crew may be occupying Wall Street by the end of the month. In September, we reported The Dark Knight Rises will shift production to New York City on October 29, and a new report indicates that director Christopher Nolan is gearing up to shoot within the Occupy Wall Street protests. Christopher Nolan is currently shooting his final Batman adventure, The Dark Knight Rises, at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham, England, which is the new home of Wayne Manor. However, another unit of the production is shooting at the Cairngorm Gliding Club in the Highlands of Scotland for several skydiving scenes.
