Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Stephen Gilula and Nancy Utley announced today that the company has acquired U.S. rights from River Road Entertainment to the epic drama The Tree of Life. Written and directed by Terrence Malick, The Tree of Life stars Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain. The film was produced by Bill Pohlad, Sarah Green, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Grant Hill. Fox Searchlight Pictures will release the film in 2011....

The Titans are coming back for another round of superhero adventures on the small screen. Warner Bros. and DC have announced that the live-action series Titans will indeed be returning for a third season. No premiere date has been set yet, but the show is said to be coming back in fall 2020. The news was also confirmed by the show’s official Twitter account, which shared the following message. Titans season 1 premiered in 2018 as the first original series for the DC Universe streaming service....

The German government has done an about-face and decided to let the makers of Valkyrie, the Tom Cruise starrer about the failed 1944 plot to kill Adolf Hitler, use the original site where the officers behind the conspiracy were executed, according to Variety. Thorsten Albig, a spokesman for the finance ministry, told Bild newspaper there had been a change of heart about allowing the filmmakers to shoot at the Bendlerblock, where plot leader Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg and several of his co-conspirators were killed shortly after the bomb they planted injured but failed to kill the Nazi leader on July 20, 1944....

The 75th Cannes Film Festival has concluded with Saturday’s award ceremony, where the nine-person jury named Ruben Östlund’s biting social satire Triangle of Sadness as the recipient of the prestigious Palme D’Or. The English-language debut from the Swedish director stars Woody Harrelson as the raging Marxist captain of a cruise ship for the mega-rich. Receiving an eight-minute standing ovation following its debut at the festival, Triangle of Sadness’ win marks Östlund’s second Palme d’Or—he previously won with 2017’s The Square....

The long-gestating Tron sequel, Tron: Ares, is back in development, with Oscar winner and Morbius star Jared Leto set to star under the direction of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Marco Polo filmmaker Joachim Rønning. The news comes courtesy of Deadline, with the Tron threequel now gearing up to come online and begin filming in August 2023 in Vancouver. According to the report, Disney is now in negotiations with Joachim Rønning, a director who has worked for the House of Mouse on several projects in the past, including Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and the upcoming Young Woman and the Sea starring Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley....

Charlie Sheen has voluntarily checked into an undisclosed rehabilitation center Friday, which effectually puts Two and a Half Men on hiatus, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Two and a Half Men executive producer Chuck Lorre said: “He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern,” his rep said in a statement. “Mr. Sheen asks that his privacy be respected at this time and that no additional informational will be provided....

Rumors began to bubble to the top of the cauldron a couple of weeks that Elizabeth Olsen had extended her Marvel Studios contract and a possible Scarlet Witch movie was in the works.
