Launching September 10, TMZ will be a new celebrity news magazine on television in much the same way the website has brought celebrity information to the public. When the Executive Producers Harvey Levin and Jim Paratore met with members of the press recently, they discussed the difference between TMZ.Com and the new television show. “There are going to be different standards and practices,” explained Paratore. “The broadcast show will meet broadcast standards and practices, but there will be things we do on the Web that we won’t do on television....

The first week in the courtroom trial against Todd and Julie Chrisley of the USA Network’s Chrisley Knows Best concluded with the usual defense and an unveiling from prosecutors. The married couple of 25 years were indicted on 12 counts of bank and wire fraud and conspiracy in 2019 and have denied all charges. They did receive a minor victory that same year when they were cleared of a Georgia state tax evasion charge after the Department of Revenue dropped its claim that the Chrisleys owed over $2....

We reported last week that a new viral website had been launched for Tron Legacy, complete with a unique binary countdown timer. That timer has now expired and revealed a scavenger hunt. The latest season of HBO’s hit comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm got a little more star-studded. According to Variety, Oscar winner Troy Kotsur is set to appear in a guest-starring role in Season 12 of the show. Kotsur, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film Coda, will be playing himself in an episode of the show as a member of Larry David’s golf club....

Netflix has renewed the critically-acclaimed comedy series from Universal Television Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for a fourth season. The series stars Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski and Carol Kane. Executive producers are Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, Jeff Richmond and David Miner. The Emmy nominated series is produced by Universal Television, Little Stranger Inc., 3 Arts Entertainment and Bevel Gears for Netflix. Netflix didn’t reveal how many episodes for Season 4 were ordered, but it will most likely be a 13-episode season, since the first three seasons have each spanned 13 episodes....

In April 2022, FX released the limited series Under the Banner of Heaven. The series is based on the true story of the murders of Brenda Lafferty and her young daughter who were murdered by one Utah family’s spiral into LDS (Latter Day Saints) Fundamentalism. Detective Jeb Pyre (played by Andrew Garfield) investigates the unsettling murders and finds his faith as an LDS member being tested. The series mixes fact versus fiction and uses material adapted from Jon Krakauer’s non-fiction novel, Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith....

Eccentric filmmaker and actor Tommy Wiseau has just revealed a surprise new project voicing the lead character in a new web-series. Called SpaceWorld, the pilot episode can now be seen on the Octopie YouTube channel, which describes the series as “what happens when you merge The Room with Star Wars.” Frequent collaborator and The Room co-star Greg Sestero also voices a character for the series. Running under six minutes long, the pilot is the only episode currently available, though Octopie urges viewers to like and subscribe to their channel to see more episodes made....

In less than a week, the season 1 finale of HBO’s Westworld will bring all of the events of the past several weeks to a close. Or we may end up with a big cliffhanger, depending on how they decided to go with it. One thing that has been explored heavily in the past few weeks is Jeffrey Wright and his character Bernard, and we will surely get some resolution with that in this upcoming episode....

The New Zealand mystery series The Brokenwood Mysteries, produced by Tim Balme, Chris Bailey, and Sally Campbell, combines just the right amount of senseless crime with a wholesome small-town atmosphere. There are not many shows that manage this balance and while the project is reminiscent of Britain’s Midsomer Murders, Brokenwood Mysteries seems to establish its own genre between murder mystery and casual village drama. Producer Tim Balme explains to Stuff that with Midsomer Murders you can expect a high body count and nearly a half-hour before someone dies, whereas his show gets it done in the first few minutes and allows “more time for the detectives to do their job....

Impractical Jokers first debuted over a decade ago and has been a staple of the television comedy landscape ever since. Every episode begins with a voiceover warning: “The following program contains scenes of graphic stupidity among four lifelong friends who compete to embarrass each other.” The four friends, who are all members of a comedy troupe called “The Tenderloins,” which is where they began their entertainment careers, are James Murray, Sal Vulcano, Brian Quinn, and Joe Gatto....

One of last year’s biggest thrillers is coming to BD… in B&W too. The Mist will be released on Blu-Ray on September 16. We have no pricing details at this time, but the two-disc set will include the theatrical version and the black-and-white version as well. Jamie Campbell Bower has been cast as the male lead of the Screen Gems adaptation The Mortal Instruments, portraying Jace Wayland. We reported back in January that Screen Gems issued a casting call for the role, which has now been filled. The project is based on the Cassandra Clare novel series of the same name, which centers on a young woman named Clary Fray (Lily Collins) who discovers she has “The Sight,” the ability to see both demons and Shadowhunters....

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is coming back for the fourth season where things are about to get even more meta. The Wildcats will be putting on a stage production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, while Disney films the long-awaited High School Musical 4: The Reunion on-location at East High School. Per Disney’s official description of the fourth season of HSMTMTS, after an epic summer at Camp Shallow Lake, in which the Wildcats film a Disney+ documentary on Frozen, the crew is set to return to East High where they will prepare a stage production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year....

You can take Agents Mulder and Scully home on DVD and Blu-Ray this holiday season. The X-Files: I Want to Believe will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on December 2. The film will be released in a single-disc version ($29.98 SRP) a three-disc “Ultimate X-Phile Edition” ($34.98 SRP) and the Blu-Ray edition ($39.98 SRP), which will be Fox’s first disc with BD Live features.
