Netflix has partnered with eOne and Hasbro to bring two of the company’s brands to the streaming service for new shows. Transformers: BotBots and a My Little Pony GG5 series are being developed for the service. This comes as Netflix continues to expand its animation slate, and as Hasbro look to take more control over expanding its brands in the entertainment landscape. Transformers: BotBots is a 20-episode animated comedy that centers on the mischievous little of the same name from Hasbro’s popular toy line....

Steve Urkel is back in the new Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? series. Jaleel White made the character famous in the early 1990s on Family Matters, but he hadn’t portrayed the character in 20 years. However, when he was approached about a cameo on the new series, which airs on the Boomerang streaming service, he could not pass up the opportunity to star alongside Scoob and the gang. And from the looks of things, not a lot of people turned down the chance to star alongside Scooby-Doo....

Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to the animated classic Robotech. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tobey Maguire is producing the film through his production company Maguire Entertainment with an eye to star in it as well. Craig Zahler has already been hired to write the screenplay, which will update the cartoon series from 1985. The sci-fi episodic adventure took place on Earth, at a time when the world’s leaders had come together to make giant robots from technology that was found on a crashed UFO....

Warner Bros. Pictures is gearing up to bring DC Comics’ Western anti-hero comic book Jonah Hex to the big screen, with filmmakers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor on board to adapt, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Hex, known for having the right side of his face disfigured and wearing a Confederate army uniform, was a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood. “Hex” first appeared in the early 1970s in the issues of “All-Star Western” before graduating to his own series in 1977 that ran for about 10 years....

While Warner Brothers might have dealt a knockout blow to the format war, it’s possible that Fox might have thrown a set-up jab. A story from the Wall Street Journal states that Fox’s firm stance on the Blu-Ray high-definition format sealed the deal for Warner to go Blu-Ray exclusive as well. Showtime is developing the Oni Press comic book The Damned into a new drama series.
