According to Variety, Michael Winterbottom’s The Road to Guantanamo is set to do a Bubble release in Blighty. Pic, which has its world premiere Tuesday in the Competition, will screen March 9 on Channel 4, which financed the production. But Winterbottom’s producer Andrew Eaton has struck deals to release the movie March 10 in cinemas, on DVD and via the Internet. “When Channel 4 decided to broadcast it so quickly after Berlin – which was the right thing to do – we thought it was worth a crack to copy what Steven Soderbergh was doing with Bubble,” Eaton said....

There is good news for fans of Soman Chainani’s best-selling YA series, The School for Good and Evil, and fantasy buffs in general. The series is finally getting its film adaptation, and it has already been touted as one of the most anticipated films of 2022. Even though the books were more simplistic in their message and were targeted toward a much younger audience, the adaptation might take a different route....

NBC’s The Voice will decisively declare a winner when the intense vocal competition series concludes its third season with a live two-hour finale on Tuesday, December 18 (9-11 p.m. ET). The finale also will be preceded with a live, 90-minute final performance episode of The Voice on Monday, December 17 (8-9:30 p.m.ET) – which will be followed by a sneak preview of NBC’s new comedy series 1600 Penn (9:30-10 p.m. ET)....

Fox has ordered a third season of The X Factor, it was announced today by Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. Here’s what judge Simon Cowell had to say regarding the announcement. I am so proud of the show and the team who have made it this season....

2021 was great for animated movies and reaffirmed the idea that there is somewhat of a modern renaissance in the animation industry that’s been growing over the last decade or so. Disney in particular had a successful 2021, with Raya and the Last Dragon, Encanto, and its Pixar offering Luca all receiving critical acclaim (and winning the Oscar for Encanto). Elsewhere, Netflix flexed its animation muscles with The Mitchells vs. The Machines, and 20th Century Studios delivered the biggest and most pleasant surprise with Ron’s Gone Wrong, a charming and family-friendly satirical take on the role Big Tech giants play in our society....

Following the release of the hugely exciting trailer for the upcoming Marvel sequel Thor: Love and Thunder, a new poster has now been unveiled via the Marvel Studios Twitter account. Offering the same vibrant color palette that director Taika Waititi demonstrated in his previous MCU outing Thor: Ragnarok, the poster gives us another look at the main players of the piece, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as The Mighty Thor, and Christian Bale as the villainous Gorr the God Butcher....

Things have been shook up at the Marvel camp. Director Patty Jenkins, who was confirmed as director of Thor 2 in late September, has left the sequel due to creative differences with the Studio. Marvel is already seeking a new director, and as the film is scheduled to be released as early as November 15th, 2013, an announcement as to who will pick up Thor’s hammer is expected soon. There seems to be no bad blood between Patty Jenkins, best known for directing Monster and The Killing: Pilot, and the Studio....

The Toy Story franchise of films is beloved by fans far and wide. Many people experience a sense of nostalgia and happiness when viewing these animated movies. The first Toy Story was released in 1995, and told the tale of a group of toys owned by a boy named Andy. When Andy’s parents give him a Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) action figure, Woody (Tom Hanks), a kind-hearted cowboy doll, fears for his status as Andy’s favorite toy....

Universal studio’s chairwoman Dame Donna Langley has revealed that Tom Cruise is expected do a spacewalk for his next movie, making history as he will be blasted into space for an upcoming Universal blockbuster. Terrifier 2 was only supposed to have a limited release, but ever since Art the Clown hit the big screen, he has taken over cinemas and rendered movies like Halloween Ends and Smile into an afterthought. The silent clown is carving a name for himself in the most graphic way possible. The film is so brutal that, per The Los Angeles Times, it has moviegoers screaming, crying, and throwing up in the theaters....

Last December, Canadian Channel Showcase aired the final episode of its long running hit sitcom Trailer Park Boys with a farewell special entitled Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys. But don’t fret. Even though this will be the last time Ricky, Bubbles, and Julian grace the small screen, they will be back soon enough in their second feature length film Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day. This latest adventure will act as a direct follow-up to the series’ ending calamity that saw all of the boys in jail at the end of Goodnight....

The Good Felicity Huffman, Kevin Zegers and the rest of the cast are terrific. The Bad It would have been interesting to see a documentary on transsexuals to get their opinions of the film. While I admit that I voted for Reese Witherspoon in the SAG Awards and I wanted her to win the Oscar, I sadly didn’t get around to seeing Transamerica. Now, it’s not that Witherspoon didn’t give a terrific performance as June Carter in Walk the Line, but Felicity Huffman not only gave an amazing performance in this film, she completely transformed herself....

It seems that two competing biopics on a Hollywood icon are both looking for traction at Cannes. Deadline London is reporting that two different biopics about the life of Marilyn Monroe are being shopped to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival. The first one comes from French sales team Wild Bunch which is shopping around the film Blonde, which will be an adaptation of author Joyce Carol Oates’ fake biography of Monroe....

The Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal Studios Hollywood will expand in 2010, growing to a 17-night schedule, offering spine-chilling new mazes based upon the horror genre’s most compelling characters, all created in collaboration with top filmmakers and artists. This year’s event will also include a tram ride through the world’s largest and most intense 3D experience, King Kong 360 3D, created by Peter Jackson. The 2010 Halloween Horror Nights 17 nights of terror will begin on Friday, September 24 and continue on weekend and other selected nights through Sunday, October 31....
