The fans have spoken and Tobey Maguire has been named as most popular friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Hosted by IGN, a massive polling process was conducted with fans with 96 total different incarnations of Spider-Man from movies, TV shows, video games, and comic books. Fans voted for their favorite with thousands of 1v1 battles pitting all of these Spideys against each other, from Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Spider-Ham to Pseter Psarker and Spider-Byte and everything in between....

Netflix has unveiled first look images of True Story, the upcoming miniseries starring Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes as brothers. The series serves as a loosely based interpretation of Hart’s life as a comedian, as he plays a character based on himself. As can be seen in the images, the photos reveal his relationship with Snipes from both sides of the spectrum, going from hugging to heated arguing. The series is set for a release exclusively on Netflix in November....

Screenwriter and TV producer Silvio Horta, best known for creating the popular ABC comedy-drama series Ugly Betty, has reportedly committed suicide. According to Variety, Horta died on Tuesday as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, though other details about the incident remain unclear. A representative for Horta has also confirmed the writer’s death, though no additional information was revealed. He was 45 years old. In addition to creating Ugly Betty, Horta served as the showrunner and head writer of the series....

With Jared Padalecki ending his run as Sam Winchester on Supernatural, the CW has released the first teaser for his next series on the network. As previously reported, Padalecki will be starring as Cordell Walker in the CW’s upcoming reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger, taking over the role originally played by Chuck Norris. Simply titled Walker, the teaser doesn’t give us a look at Padalecki in character, though we can get a peek at his Texas Rangers badge....

Warner Bros. is scaling back it’s projections on HD and Blu-ray. According to Video Business, the studio “has adjusted downward its projections for consumer spending on the new HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc formats this year, citing limitations on the availability of high-definition hardware.” Warner Bros. went on to say that “consumers spent just $30 million on high-def hardware and software through September, about half what Warner forecast would be spent in the period....

As we reported, it was uncertain how Warner Bros. was going to pursue the marketing for The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins. The viral marketing campaign, to date, had largely been focused around Heath Ledger’s Joker character, leaving the future of the campaign uncertain. While we still don’t have any answers about the overall campaign, Warner Bros. has seen fit to memorialize Heath Ledger on at least a few of the web sites being used to promote the film....

Before Peter Jackson unleashed the Lord of the Rings movies on an unsuspecting world, there was Gormenghast. Premiered in 2000, the joint BBC/PBS production was years in the making and featured one of the most glittering casts of any fantasy production. It included such luminaries as Ian Richardson, Christopher Lee, Richard Griffiths, Celia Imrie, Fiona Shaw, Stephen Fry, and many others. However, it received only a lukewarm response on airing, and Mervyn Peake’s fantasy masterpiece has lain untouched by TV producers and movie-makers alike ever since....

Back in July, Universal Pictures pulled out of The Dark Tower, a massive adaptation of the Stephen King novel series that was set to span three movies and two limited-run TV seasons. The project has been searching for a financial backer ever since then, and it seems they may have found one in Warner Bros. The original deal had the entire project, both the movie trilogy and TV series, under one roof at Universal Studios and NBC/Universal Television, but that won’t be the case anymore....

The Equalizer TV reboot is heating up with a gender twist. CBS is in the works on a new version of the classic 80s TV series, with Queen Latifah (Girls Trip, Beauty Shop) set to star in the lead role. Gender-swapped remakes have become increasingly popular in recent years, as has reviving old, once-popular properties for new generations. This project checks both boxes. The network is looking to breathe some new life into this show with a fresh, modern take....

All good things must come to an end. And that includes The Good Place on NBC. Michael Schur, creator and executive producer of NBC and Universal Television’s The Good Place, made the following announcement Friday night at the Television Academy in North Hollywood during a panel discussion dedicated to the critically acclaimed comedy series. NBC’s The Good Place will conclude following its upcoming 2019-20 fourth season that begins in the fall....

Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Bly Manor was a massive hit on Netflix and actually reigned its most-watched charts throughout October. In our books that means an instant confirmation for the third instalment in this epic horror anthology series. But hopes of the fans who had been eagerly waiting for the streaming platform to give it a green flag have been doused by Flanagan himself- he has confirmed that there are “no plans” to bring another “Haunting” series to Netflix....

Director Gary Ross has turned his attention to casting the male side of The Hunger Games, now that Jennifer Lawrence is set to play Katniss Everdeen. Actors such as Josh Hutcherson, Alexander Ludwig, Hunter Parrish, Lucas Till, and Evan Peters will all be reading for the role of Peeta. Peeta is a young lad from Katniss Everdeen’s town who is also chosen for The Hunger Games, a nationally televised fight to the death between teens from all 12 regions of this alternate America....

As The Hunger Games gears up for its theatrical debut this March, Lionsgate continues to infiltrate the market with fresh photos from the film. Today, we get a look at Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta’s (Josh Hutcherson) Tribute Parade costumes, as they are about to be inducted into the games. Lucasfilm has released the official trailer for the second season of The Mandalorian, due to begin streaming next month on Disney+. And it heavily promises that the Jedi will return, with Mando instructed to return The Child to these ’enemy sorcerers’. There is one jedi revealed in the footage, who many at first believed to be Ahsoka Tano. The actress has since been identified as Sasha Banks, but her character has not yet been identified....

It made headlines around the world – the discovery of the remains of the most notorious king of England that ever lived found buried under a car park in the unassuming English city of Leicester. Richard III’s skeleton was discovered in 2012 and, following a remarkable tale of sleuthing involving medieval Welsh poetry and DNA testing, was confirmed as Richard’s before being interred in a grand ceremony in Leicester Cathedral....

The Magicians was a TV show that lasted five seasons on SYFY. Adapted from books of the same name written by Lev Grossman, it tells the story of a group of students at a magical university. Some have called it Harry Potter for grownups, as there is magic; but also drugs, sex, alcohol, depression, and alienation. But it’s much more, as there’s also a magical world that has Narnia influences, and the show is much funnier, stranger, and unique than one might think with that description....

The new TV trailer for Disney+’s The Mandalorian reveals new footage. Nick Nolte’s Ugnaught character is also introduced in the latest look at the upcoming series. Disney+ launches on November 12th, which is now less than a week away. It’s also the date that Star Wars fans will get their first taste of what The Mandalorian will be all about. So far, we really don’t have a whole lot to go from aside from the fact that it follows the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic....

The Mummy is a 1999 adventure movie directed by Stephen Sommers. Set in 1920s Egypt, it centers around adventurer Rick O’Conell (Brendan Fraser), and librarian and Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz), who inadvertently release a centuries-old mummy, Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo). Along with Evelyn’s brother, Jonathan (John Hannah), and Ardeth Bay (Oded Fehr), leader of a group sworn to prevent Imhotep’s rise, they must compete with rival treasure hunters and stop the mummy from destroying the world....

We have a brand new trailer for The Purge season 2, which looks to take the series in a bold new direction. All four of the movies in this franchise, and the first season of the show, focused heavily on the annual, government-sanctioned holiday where all crime is legal for a 12-hour period. Here though, we see the show will be exploring what happens in the aftermath, as is strongly hinted at in the tagline featured in the trailer....
