The fifth season of The CW’s hit series Arrow came to a close on Wednesday night, but last night, fans got to see series star Stephen Amell’s heroics on a different network, for a worthy cause. Diablo Cody (Young Adult, Jennifer’s Body) was brought on to do rewrites for director Fede Alvarez’s The Evil Dead remake/reboot. Collider recently caught up with the celebrated screenplay writer to find out more about the project. Diablo Cody called the film unbelievable violent, and wants fans to know that she understands the inner workings of the franchise. She continued by saying this about the rewrite process. “I wouldn’t have even gotten involved if Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell hadn’t been involved as well, they’re producing it, and so of course I was like “Alright I have to do this” because I’m such a fan of the original, and the whole original series in fact....

Production is currently under way on Disney’s The Lone Ranger, which is shooting in New Mexico and various other locales, working towards a May 31, 2013 release date. On Sunday, October 9, at New York Comic Con, the cast and creators of CW’s The Winchesters debuted the first episode of the series in a special screening. During the panel, it was also announced that Smallville alum Tom Welling is joining the Supernatural spinoff. The first episode of The Winchesters airs on The CW on October 15. Set in the 1970s, the series is told from the perspective of Supernatural’s Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles, who created The Winchesters with Daneel Ackles), who narrates the story of how his parents, John Winchester (Drake Rodger) and Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly), fell in love and fought monsters together....

Netflix has released the first trailer for their upcoming Too Hot to Handle reality dating show. The streaming platform has truly separated themselves from the pack with this new twist on an old formula. After the success of Love is Blind, it was only a matter of time before Netflix came out with a new dating show that keeps the participants and viewers on their toes. Too Hot to Handle features a group of ten “serial swipers,” who are all brought together on a tropical island for what they think will be an erotic getaway....

Superhero movies have defined an entire generation of cinema fans. Jon Favreau introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s version of Tony Stark in his 2008 film, Iron Man. Since then, a Marvel Cinematic Universe has been created which involves characters and storylines intertwining throughout multiple films and franchises. At the same time, DC has created their own Extended Universe with films like Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman. Pictured are Triceradon (who, we just found out from our good friend Danny DeVito, will be voiced by ‘man of a thousand screams’ Mike Patton; though this may be a joke, as Patton was rumored to be voicing a dump truck in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which wasn’t true…Word is that there was such strong fan response to that fake rumor, Michael Bay is actually employing the Faith No More singer’s dynamic vocals this time out…We’ll believe it when we hear it), and Rav, the metal pterodactyl....

Universal Pictures has moved the release date of its hotly anticipated fantasy-action-thriller Wanted from spring to summer. The film will now be released on Friday, June 27, rather than its former release date of March 28. The film stars James McAvoy (Atonement), Morgan Freeman (The Bucket List), Common (American Gangster) and Angelina Jolie (Beowulf) as members of a secret society that carries out the orders of fate itself. It is the first English-language film directed by Russian visual pioneer Timur Bekmambetov, creator of the Night Watch series – the most successful film franchise in his country’s history....

The 79th Venice International Film Festival happened from August 31st to September 10th. The festival received a lot of attention, being one of the most prestigious and oldest film festivals in the world. Various movies premiered during the festival, including the feminist polemic Don’t Worry, Darling and the the highly anticipated Blonde. The Venice International Film Festival’s first edition happened in 1923. The award’s intention was to help the art of cinema and had some of the biggest political and cultural support: including the fascist government....

Brad Bufanda, who played Felix Toombs on the first 2 seasons of Veronica Mars, committed suicide on Wednesday at the age of 34. TMZ reports that Bufanda leapt from a building in Los Angeles. A transient found the actor’s body around 1am on Wednesday morning and a note was found near his person. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Bufanda was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday, almost an hour after midnight....

Vincent D’Onofrio’s return as Daredevil villain Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk in the finale of the Disney+ series Hawkeye proved that once certain actors take on a role it is hard to imagine anyone else taking over that part as long as the original actor is still willing to play it. While fans were delighted to see D’Onofrio reprising his role after years of uncertainty following the cancellation of the Netflix Daredevil series, the actor himself revealed in a new interview that he originally was encouraged into the role by a long-serving Marvel icon: Hugh Jackman....
