While doing press for the upcoming holiday thriller P2, Wes Bentley was posed with the question, “Would you play Ash in a remake of The Evil Dead?” Why was he asked this? Because, as we all know, director Sam Raimi has long considered producing a remake of his seminal horror classic. Yet, the fans don’t think Bruce Campbell can be replaced. I was in the same camp until I saw Bentley’s deliciously creepy portrayal of a lonesome parking garage attendant in P2....

While some of the biggest Super Bowl ads are for some of this year’s biggest movies, HBO is shaking things up a bit by dropping a trailer for Season 2 of Westworld. This ad marks the first time in HBO’s storied history that the cable network has dropped the big bucks (reportedly over $5 million for a 30-second spot this year) to promote what may be the most highly-anticipated seasons in all of television....

Lionsgate and the producers of the film adaptation of the worldwide bestselling book What to Expect When You’re Expecting are thrilled to announce that Dennis Quaid (The Rookie, The Day After Tomorrow, Vantage Point and the upcoming Footloose) will be starring opposite Brooklyn Decker in the film, which is expected to begin shooting mid-Summer 2011, and will be released on May 11, 2012. It was previously announced that Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Anna Kendrick, Matthew Morrison, Chace Crawford and Rob Huebel will also be starring in the project....

Over two stellar seasons, The White Lotus has established that its setting is as important as any of the show’s plentiful characters or plot elements. Whether it’s Maui or Taormina, the expansive resorts become metaphorical pressure cookers for interpersonal drama between the ultra-wealthy guests. This is why, despite only just being renewed, fans are trying to guess where the third outing might be set. Mike White has given some hints on where he might want to take the show, but neither he nor HBO has given any official confirmation on where they will be filming or when it’ll be released....

Actress Jane Levy, the star of ABC’s new comedy series Suburgatory, is in talks to portray the female lead in The Evil Dead remake. We reported last month that Lily Collins was forced to drop out of the remake, due to scheduling issues. Jane Levy will play Mia, who heads up to a remote cabin with a group of friends, just after she recently overdosed on drugs. New streaming service Paramount+ is bringing a whole host of exciting projects to the platform, with live action adaptations of popular animated series The Fairly OddParents and Dora the Explorer now among them. Both shows will make the leap into live action for their respective new series, something which Nickelodeon’s The Fairly OddParents did once before with A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!. Running for 10 seasons and 172 episodes, The Fairly OddParents is one of the longest-running animated series on the network....

Amidst all of the exciting recent casting news regarding Peter Jackson’s upcoming prequel The Hobbit, which has seen quite a few Lord of the Rings alumni heading back to the Shire, including Elijah Wood, Cate Blanchett, Andy Serkis, Sir Ian McKellen, and possibly Orlando Bloom, another casting tidbit has flown under the radar. The CW’s live-action Powerpuff Girls reboot has found its leads. Chloe Bennet (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Dove Cameron (Descendants), and Yana Perrault (Jagged Little Pill) have just been tapped to play older versions of the animated trio, set years after their collaborative crimefighting adventures as children. Maggie Kiley directs using a script by Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier. A live-action series, The Powerpuff Girls follows Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup as disillusioned twentysomethings who no longer serve as America’s pint-sized superheroes....

Cinedigm has released the official trailer for The Ravine ahead of its release in April. Dark Horse Comic’s hit series The Umbrella Academy is coming to feature film screens for Universal Pictures, and Mark Bomback has been tapped to do the adaptation. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Bomback (Constantine, Race to Witch Mountain) will be adapting the comic created by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way. In the comics, The Umbrella Academy is a group of superheroes who had disbanded years ago. The heroes were all adopted and trained by Reginald Hargreeves, an alien disguised as a wealthy entrepreneur....

Played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Negan first appeared in The Walking Dead at the end of the season six finale.
