Thor: Love and Thunder will see Natalie Portman reprise the role of Jane Foster. Only this time, she will join the pantheon of MCU heroes, wielding Mjölnir as The Mighty Thor. However, despite now having a superhero identity and super powers of her own, it sounds like everything is not all well with Jane. In a report from The Direct, it is stated that Thor: Love and Thunder will find Jane “secretly struggling with a terrible hardship” that she is only “able to conceal so long as she’s wielding Mjolnir....

IGN has posted an article claiming that a ’trusted source’ has revealed that director J.J. Abrams would like to have an A-list star cameo in his forthcoming Star Trek film. Their source - who previous scoops have always panned - says that Abrams is wooing Tom Cruise to cameo as Captain Christopher Pike! Rumors had circulated last fall that Cruise might have a role in the film, however the Cruise camp denied that rumor....

Academy Award-nominated writing team, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby will write the first feature of the newly announced reboot of the Tomb Raider film franchise. The films will create daring new adventures for the young and dynamic Lara Croft. Graham King and Tim Headington will produce. No casting has been announced. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby’s credits include Alfonso Cuarón’s Children of Men, which earned them an Academy Award nomination and Jon Favreau’s mega box-office success Iron Man starring Robert Downey Jr....

Activision Publishing, Inc. has assembled an all-star cast for the upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen video game, including the film’s leads Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox, who will reprise their starring roles in the game, and fan favorites Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, the voices of Optimus Prime and Meagtron from the original animated series. In the new game, developed under license from Hasbro, players are thrust into an adrenaline-pumping battle to defend Earth from a Decepticon attack that threatens mankind....

Warner Bros. is going into the jungle… According to Variety, wunderkind producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers) and Scott Z. Burns (An Inconvenient Truth) will be producing a film “about the rescue of 15 hostages from the Colombian jungle last summer.” Based on a pitch purchased by Warner Bros., Peter Landesman has been set to write the script. The movie will “focus on Operacion Jaque, a five-year plan to locate and rescue three Americans who had been captured in 2003 by Colombian guerilla group FARC....

Trick ‘r Treat has become a beloved Halloween classic in recent years. Directed by Michael Dougherty (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Krampus), Trick ‘r Treat debuted straight-to-video back in 2009 but has gained a cult following over the years. Dougherty recently revealed that a sequel was in “very active development” at Legendary Pictures, as Trick ‘r Treat hit theaters this month for the first time ever. However, Trick ‘r Treat 2 isn’t a done deal just yet....

HBO is reportedly taking another bite into the True Blood franchise. According to a new report from TVLine, the cabler has begun development on a new iteration of the vampire drama series. Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will co-write the pilot with AMC’s NOS4A2 creator Jami O’Brien, with the two also serving as executive produces alongside original series developer Alan Ball. As of now, HBO has declined to confirm or deny the report....

Two new theatrical hits couldn’t surpass the brood of vampires this week on home video. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Twilight managed to stay atop the home video charts in its first full week, for the week ending March 29. The year’s top-selling DVD to-date did face some competition this week in theatrical hits Quantum of Solace and Bolt, which finished in second and third places respectively. Quantum of Solace did end up besting Twilight on the rental charts and Bolt finished in fourth place in rentals behind Role Models, which held the rental title for the past two weeks and slipped to third place this week....

Warner Bros. is sitting pretty with many DC Comics superhero properties waiting to save us from evil. But the question is not so much who, as when. Variety talked with Warner Bros. Pictures President and Chief Operating Officer Alan Horn, Production President Jeff Robinov and Gregory Noveck, Senior VP of Creative Affairs for DC Comics about the various challenges of adapting more DC properties for the big screen beyond the steady Batman and Superman franchises....

LIONSGATE® (NYSE: LGF), a leading global entertainment company, today announced a special sneak preview screening program for inspirational sports drama Warrior. The screenings will be held on Sunday, September 4th at 7:00 pm, at theaters nationwide. The announcement was made by Lionsgate’s co-COO and Motion Picture Group President Joe Drake. One of the best sports dramas of the century, 2011’s Warrior, is getting a small-screen adaptation from Lionsgate Television and Paramount+. Warrior director Gavin O’Connor created the 10-episode series and will also serve as the showrunner alongside newcomer Adair Cole. Unfortunately, Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, who played the feuding brothers in the movie, won’t be returning to the Warrior TV series. However, the series won’t be a reboot and will be set in the same world as the movie but featuring four new fighters, each competing to win the fictional Sparta MMA tournament and make a better life for themselves....

Showtime is packing another hit of its highest-rated comedy series Weeds, picking up an eighth season. Thirteen new episodes will go into production in 2012. Created by Emmy Award winner Jenji Kohan and produced by Lionsgate, Weeds has been honored with multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominations and wins over the course of its seven seasons on air. Viewers have watched and marveled as Nancy Botwin (series star Mary-Louise Parker in her Golden Globe Award-winning performance) has progressed from a suburban widow who turns to selling nickel bags to make ends meet for her family to a full-fledged marijuana queenpin....

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has released, as of July 28th, 2022, 29 feature films with 14 more in development. Two of those 14 films are Avengers movies, both scheduled to be released in 2025. Despite some, admittedly valid, criticism of the films in this franchise as being formulaic, there are a few MCU movies that rise above this label. With so many films in their line-up, discussions will inevitably emerge over which film is the best or which one is the worst....

Despite boycott threats from religious groups and mediocre reviews from film critics, the movie version of Dan Brown’s besetting novel The Da Vinci Code took in $30 million throughout the U.S. on Friday, it’s first day of release. Following its Cannes premiere on May 17, the movie opened in most world markets on Friday. According to Variety, the film took in an additional $43 million Friday in other parts of the world....

Director Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises is currently in its final stretch of production in Los Angeles, working towards a release date of July 20, 2012. Boom operator and sound recordist Frederick Roche recently revealed some interesting information about the production through his Twitter account, indicating that the ending will be completely done with visual effects. Take a look at what he had to say below. This information should be taken with a grain of salt, though, since Frederick Roche isn’t currently listed as a production member on The Dark Knight Rises....
