Great supervillains aren’t born, they’re made - something that costume designer Lindy Hemming will happily tell you. The costume designer for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight recently talked to Wizard Universe about the process whereby she created the new look for Heath Ledger’s Joker in Nolan’s sequel to Batman Begins. “[Director] Chris [Nolan] didn’t want him to have a brand-new costume made,” Hemming says, “I started getting pieces together, and we made up a look, but always keeping them in various shades of purple....

In the seven years since the invasion of Iraq began there have been several films made about the occupation and the soldiers who are fighting for our freedom. Westlake Entertainment is staking it’s claim in the horror market. In a story from Fangoria, they report that on March 27 the company will release The Eden Formula. Synopsis: Jeff Fahey plays a scientist who creates a serum that produces a flesheating dinosaur. Dee Wallace Stone and Tony Todd also star. Technical Specs: Aspect Ratio: Full Screen Audio: Dolby Digital 2.0 The Eden Formula will sell for $19.98. On April 3 the company will release Zombies Gone Wild....

Forest Whitaker must have owed someone a favor to star in this slow moving, generic Canadian ghost story. The Oscar winner plays a “paranormal consultant” brought in by a children’s author to examine the house she recently moved into after seeing the ghost of a little girl running about. The bulk of the film is spent trying to unravel the history of the house and it’s former inhabitants, as well as to restore the fuzzy memory of the author who, apparently, had some sort of accident that wiped a large chunk of it clean....

Horror television programs have captivated audiences for decades and first gained popularity after World War II as the new source of entertainment to replace cinema. Horror TV was originally based on radio programs and stories including Lights Out, Intersanctum, The Monkey’s Paw, Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and adapted to Suspense. The 1960s to 1970s were anthology series and adaptations of classic horror films, followed by the 1980s and 1990s with popular film franchise adaptations....

Francis Ford Coppola’s coming-of-age movie The Outsiders was released in 1983. The film tells the story of adolescent gangs, the Greasers and the Socials, in rural Oklahoma, who are always in conflict. Greasers Ponyboy (C. Thomas Howell) and Johnny (Ralph Macchio) are forced to flee when a fight results in the death of a Socials member. Ponyboy and Johnny will soon have to deal with the repercussions of their violent lives, along with the intense Dallas (Matt Dillon) and his other Greaser friends....

Comedic actor Chris Tucker, who hasn’t made a movie since the 2007 sequel Rush Hour 3, is in talks for roles in both The Silver Linings Playbook and Neighborhood Watch. The Weinstein Company’s The Silver Linings Playbook stars Bradley Cooper as a former high school teacher who is committed to an institution for depression. When he gets out, he tries to win back his ex-wife, and ends up falling for his neighbor instead....

It’s great to hear that Mischa Barton still has a functioning brain, what with all those hardcore party rumors floating around. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former The O.C. star will be joining Bruce’s daughter, Rumer Willis, in the dark comedy The Sophomore. The two girls have been cast opposite Bruce himself. The film claims to be a high school take on Chinatown. Barton, the most popular student at her Catholic school, convinces a sophomore reporter to investigate the theft of some SAT tests....

The Umbrella Academy is one of Netflix’s most successful series, which is why it comes as no surprise that its third season, just released on the streaming platform, was praised by critics and fans alike. The Weinstein Company and Blockbuster have merged. Sort of. The Weinstein Company, the multi-media enterprise launched by movie industry icons Bob and Harvey Weinstein, and Blockbuster Inc. today announced a groundbreaking four-year exclusive alliance, which provides Blockbuster with exclusive US rental rights to TWC’s theatrical and direct-to-video movies, beginning on Jan. 1, 2007. Under the terms of the agreement, TWC and Blockbuster will share rental revenues from TWC’s theatrical and direct-to-video titles....

Ever since we reported in March that director Darren Aronofsky left The Wolverine, 20th Century Fox has been in search of a new director for the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Today it has been revealed that the search has been narrowed down to eight directors: José Padilha, Doug Liman, Antoine Fuqua, Mark Romanek, Justin Lin, Gavin O’Connor, James Mangold, and commercials director Gary Shore. While the candidates all have a wide variety of backgrounds, all of the directors except for Mark Romanek and Gary Shore have directed an action vehicle before....

In what may or may not be a stunning move, a 22-year-old woman who identifies as Jane Doe is backing off of her child abuse lawsuit against Tiffany Haddish and fellow comedian Aries Spears which claims the two coerced, groomed, and molested her and her brother when they were teenagers. The suit specifically states, “Haddish knew the child was under 18 and sexually exploited Plaintiff Jane Doe for profit and likes on social media....

Born in Hong Kong, Tony Leung Chiu-wai had a complicated childhood filled with financial difficulties as a result of his father’s gambling (via GQ). Although he attended a private school for some time, he had to drop out due to lack of adequate finances. What’s more, Leung juggled different jobs until he met then-wannabe actor Stephen Chow, who influenced him to take acting classes. It was evidently a life-altering decision, given how Leung has since become one of Asia’s most successful and internationally renowned actors of all time....
