Paramount Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment jointly announced today that James Cameron’s Titanic will be re-released worldwide on April 6, 2012. The release, which marks the 100th anniversary of the Titanic setting sail (April 10th), will present the film in 3D for the first time ever. Written, directed and produced by Cameron, Titanic is the second highest grossing movie of all time. It is one of only three films to have received a record 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director; and launched the careers of stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet....
While promoting the Elvis Presley biopic, Tom Hanks discussed his role in the Jonathan Demme’s Philadelphia. Hanks received an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Andrew Beckett, a corporate attorney who conceals his homosexuality and is fired over his AIDS diagnosis. The movie was released in 1993, and the actor told The New York Times Magazine that if the film was being cast today, he would not play the role of Beckett....
James Woods and Paul Giamatti are set to star in the HBO telepic Too Big to Fail, about the Wall Street meltdown, according to Variety. James Woods will play Lehman Brothers CEO Dick Fuld. The Weinstein Company is teaming up with Gary Oldman and Douglas Urbanski’s Flying Studios to produce a TV series adaptation of Truman Capote’s classic non-fiction book In Cold Blood. The book was previously adapted into feature films such as 2005’s Capote starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, 2006’s Infamous starring Toby Jones and 1967’s In Cold Blood starring Robert Blake. The Walking Dead may not have reached its conclusion yet, but Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan are already working on the next steps for their respective characters Negan and Maggie. The pair will be reunited on spin-off show The Walking Dead: Dead City, which will see the once mortal enemies relocated to a zombie-infested Manhattan Island. A new report indicates that Orlando Bloom is set to earn $1 million dollars for his upcoming return as Legolas in The Hobbit. Elisabeth Moss is fantastic as a preyed upon woman in The Invisible Man. The classic horror film and novel gets a solid reboot from Australian writer/director Leigh Whannell; who takes the plot in a completely different direction. The first two acts are brilliantly atmospheric. Suspense and tension slowly build to evoke primal fears. It’s when the blood starts flowing that the film takes a more predictable turn. An unremarkable ending somewhat disappoints....
