With the shocking cancellation of the Batgirl film, starring Leslie Grace and directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, much of the future of DC movies under Warner Bros Discovery has been thrown into question. While CEO David Zaslav has tried to reassure fans that DC will be moving forward with a 10-year plan similar to that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems like the plan DC already had in place has been completely thrown out the window....

FX has renewed its acclaimed mockumentary series What We Do in the Shadows for the fifth and sixth seasons. The news comes just days after the network announced the season 4 premiere date. FX’s What We Do in the Shadows is based on the 2014 film of the same name, directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. However, the series is not a reboot and takes place in the same universe, albeit on a different continent....

The 37th President of the United States, Richard Nixon, is synonymous with the infamous Watergate scandal. A domestic espionage operation that was ultimately unraveled and broadcasted nationwide, over 69 people were indicted for their participation, with 48 of them being officially convicted for bugging the Democratic National Committee headquarters. The whole situation would’ve led to the eventual impeachment of Nixon had he not resigned in 1974, with a pardon by his successor, Gerald Ford, absolving him of his crimes....

One of the most celebrated filmmakers in the world, South Korean director Park Chan-wook returns in 2022 with a highly anticipated release: Decision to Leave. The movie made its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it made a splash, before moving on to streaming on December 9, 2022, on Mubi. In the grand scheme of Park’s filmography, Decision to Leave is fairly unique. Park has become known for the shocking content in his movies, especially with the Vengeance Trilogy of the early-2000s, but Decision to Leave returns to his roots, seen in his early work like 2000’s Joint Security Area....

HBO’s Game of Thrones was only nominated for one Golden Globe award during last weekend’s telecast, although it was the biggest TV award, for Best Drama Series, which it ultimately lost to Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale. While some of the show’s stars were in attendance, like Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow), others were not, such as Maisie Williams, with the actress taking to Instagram to explain her absence....

The wait is nearly over for fans of the next chapter of Quentin Tarantino’s career. HarperCollins is about to publish the Pulp Fiction director’s long-teased, first official work of film criticism, Cinema Speculation. The book, concerning the movies that young QT grew up watching in the 1970s, comes on the heels of his foray into writing explicitly for the page with last year’s novelization of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (also published by HarperCollins), which was met with positive reviews upon its release....

The Good An interesting choice for a UMD that could make it accessible to a new market. The Bad Did they transfer this to UMD from a videotape? I have never been a fan of this movie. I didn’t like The Doors when I saw it in the movie theater, I didn’t like it when I bought it and watched it again on DVD (it was only $10) and I can’t say that I liked it any better in the UMD format....

Hartley Sawyer has been fired from The Flash after racist and misogynistic tweets resurfaced. Sawyer played Ralph Dibny, aka Elongated Man, on the hit series. This is not the first time that old tweets have come back to haunt people in the present. James Gunn was famously fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 back in 2018 for the same thing, even though Disney ended up rehiring him. As for Sawyer, it doesn’t look like he’ll be invited back to The Flash....

Production continues on the highly-anticipated two-part prequel The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which hits theaters nationwide on December 14, 2012. Disney has a way of proving that some things get better with age! Disney’s Ariel, The Little Mermaid, proved to be the most well-known red head, in a recent study conducted by Omnibus Operations: Ipsos North America. The animated character (who has her own U.S. postage stamp) was better known than such modern day red heads as Sarah Ferguson (former Duchess of York), Pippy Longstocking (popular children’s literary and film character), Julianne Moore (The Hours, The Big Lebowski), and Debra Messing (TV’s “Will & Grace”)....

The unforgettable characters of J.R.R. Tolkien officially have a new home, and things are already stirring. In February, Zaentz Co. announced that they were looking to sell the rights of The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogy to new owners. This ownership, which includes the film, merchandising, gaming, and event rights, has officially been purchased by Embracer Group; and from the looks of things they have big plans ahead!...

The Mandalorian takes a dark turn in another whopper of an episode. Chapter Fourteen, “The Tragedy”, has Mando (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu, damn I already miss Baby Yoda, reaching the Jedi Temple on Tython. Grogu is placed on the Seeing Stone. While he reaches out through the force, Mando encounters an old adversary thought dead (Ming-Na Wen), the most infamous bounty hunter (Temuera Morrison), and finally, the Empire crashes their solitude....

A fantastic horror film is composed of many very distinct elements. A movie needs to have a murderer or cursed object that the audience can believe in, a target who is innocent or a bunch of folks people can care about, and a story that is gripping from start to finish. However, there must be a context in which it can feel credible. Small communities are the perfect setting for sheer terror and sci-fi tales to flourish—the more remote, the better, as their charming streets and lovely views constantly conceal ominous secrets....

Some new character posters have been released for The Batman. As we have seen in the promotional materials for the film, Paul Dano’s Riddler serves as the primary villain. He has been tormenting Gotham City with his serial murders, though he also takes delight in leaving behind puzzles at the crime scenes for “The Batman” to decipher. Perhaps he feels that the ultimate challenge will be stumping the World’s Greatest Detective?...

Picking up exactly where we left off last week on The Sinner when Mason (Christopher Abbott) was walking up to JD’s house (Jacob Pitts) armed with a pistol. He decided to go there to get revenge after JD had assaulted his father. The ironic thing happens as Mason sees two men coming out of the house so he quickly hides on the side. After they leave he walks inside to surprisingly discover his work has already been done for him....
