The 1972 drama The Harder They Come, which starred reggae musician Jimmy Cliff, will be remade as a joint production by U.K.-based Xingu Films, the Canadian company Conquering Lion, and Jamaican producer Justine Henzell. The original movie centered on an up-and-coming reggae musician who gets dragged into the criminal underworld. This new take will be modernized to reflect the current reggae culture. The Harder They Come was directed by Justine Henzell’s father, Perry Henzell, who passed away in 2006....

Ed Gass-Donnelly, best known for his film Small Town Murder Songs, has come aboard to direct The Last Exorcism 2. Ashley Bell is set to reprise her role from the original 2010 thriller The Last Exorcism, playing possessed teen Nell Sweetzer. The story will pick up three months after the end of the first film, though all further details are being kept under wraps. Eli Roth is back as a producer, and is making an R rated feature this time out....

Another day, another new addition to The Munsters. On Instagram, writer-director Rob Zombie has unveiled another new photo from the upcoming reboot, this time revealing the latest character to be included. Tomas Boykin, who previously worked with Zombie on 3 From Hell and whose other work includes Lazarus Rising and How to Get Away with Murder, will be playing Lester Dracula, brother to Sheri Moon Zombie’s Lily Munster. Or, as the children call him, Uncle Lester....

A series of new images offer our first proper look at Academy Award winner Christian Bale and Harry Potter star Harry Melling in the upcoming gothic horror mystery movie, The Pale Blue Eye. Coming courtesy of Vanity Fair, the images reveal Bale as detective Augustus Landor, with Melling portraying a young Edgar Allan Poe. Together, this pair of mismatched investigators are tasked with catching a serial killer. Check out the images below....

Galt Niederhoffer directs The Romantics, a new drama about love, friendship, and loyalty starring Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel, and Anna Paquin. The Romantics DVD arrives in stores on February 8th. Sci Fi Channel has given the greenlight to Caprica a prequel of Battlestar Galactica that will take shape as a two-hour backdoor pilot, and has signed Rosario Dawson to develop True Believer, the pilot for a proposed series based on a comicbook she co-created. According to Variety, these were two of the highlights of Sci Fi Channel’s upfront presentation Tuesday night at New York City’s Morgan Library delivered by David Howe, president of the network....

HBO has confirmed the debut date for new episodes of the hit series The Sopranos and Entourage. The Emmy(r)- and Peabody-winning series The Sopranos returns for the second part of its sixth and final season with nine new episodes, starting SUNDAY, APRIL 8 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), followed by other episodes on subsequent Sundays at the same time. Series creator David Chase will write and direct the final episode of the show....

Three Thousand Years of Longing is Academy Award-winner George Miller’s first film since his much-praised Mad Max: Fury Road, the fourth installment in the Mad Max universe. In October 2018, it was announced that the Australian director was in pre-production for this next movie, which stars, potential new 007, Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation, Luther), and Tilda Swinton (We Need to Talk About Kevin, Snowpiercer). The fantasy-romance drama was expected to be shot in 2019, but production suffered a number of delays due to the pandemic and related insurance issues....

Tim Burton can be a polarizing director. Many people appreciate his unique visual style and storytelling, while others don’t care for it. Tim Burton’s love of B-movie monster movies is well documented, and he intended to bring that B-movie love to the classic Planet of the Apes. Some make the movie out to be worse than it was because of these elements. This is unfair because the movie has many strengths and positive elements....

Derek Jacobi has boarded the mini series Titanic: Blood and Steel. The actor will play Lord William Pirrie, responsible for the company that constructed the vessel. The mini-series centers on the design of the ship, how it was built, and the financial compromises which ultimately lead to its untimely demise. Chris Noth will portray financier J.P. Morgan, with Neve Campbell portraying a journalist covering the ship’s first voyage to New York City....

LeicesterSquareTV is reporting that Tommy Lee Jones has joined the cast of Captain America: The First Avenger. At present it is still unclear what role he will play. The actress Hayley Atwell (she will be playing Peggy Carter in the film) spilled the beans in a video interview with LeicesterSquareTV. Some of the rumors have Jones playing the role of General Chester Phillips. Marvel.Wikia.Com describes the character as follows: Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family....

Ivan Reitman’s 1988 picture Twins may have the setup for a star vehicle, but the film itself was always more than its superb casting. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, Twins follows a mismatched pair of strangers who discover they are, against all odds, biological twin brothers. Thus follows the misadventures of very non-identical twins Julius (Schwarzenegger) and Vincent (DeVito) Benedict as they find one another and give being family a shot....

You can bring home two Universal films home in true high definition for the first time this September. Mercury Rising and Unleashed will both debut on Blu-ray on September 14. We don’t have any pricing details as of yet, or cover art for Unleashed, but you can take a look at the special features of Unleashed and the cover art for Mercury Rising below. It doesn’t seem that Mercury Rising will include any bonus features, but we’ll update this story if special features details come in....

Adam F. Goldberg, Executive Producer of ABC-TV’s hit comedy, The Goldbergs, considers the movie Die Hard, “the best Christmas Movie of All Time.” He and the show he created will pay homage to the movie’s 30th anniversary with an episode entitled “Yipee Kay-Yay, Melon Farmer,” airing on Wednesday, December 12 on ABC-TV at 8 p.m. EST. The Goldbergs is an autobiography of Goldberg’s experiences growing up in a Philadelphia-suburban family in the 1980s, and he will often insert recreations of his personal life into the show....

Horror anthology series V/H/S is back with another installment of found-footage frights just in time for Halloween. Bloody Disgusting’s Brad Miska, who has served as a producer on the series since its eponymous first film debuted in 2012, shared news of the upcoming V/H/S/99 on Thursday. Premiering October 20, V/H/S/99 will be the fifth entry in the series and the second Shudder Original. The streaming service previously rebooted the anthology with 2021’s V/H/S/94, which quickly became Shudder’s biggest movie premiere to date....

After decades of fan theories, Velma Dinkley, the brainy crime-fighting heroine from the Scooby-Doo franchise, has finally come out as a lesbian.
