The Delhi High Court has thrown out Warner Bros.’ copyright infringement suit against Mumbai-based Mirchi Movies over Hari Puttar: A Comedy of Terrors, just in time for the film’s release Friday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the suit was filed in August by Warners Bros. which alleged that the Hari Puttar title was too similar to the studio’s Harry Potter franchise. Monday’s judgment stated that one of the factors leading to the dismissal was the studio’s delay in filing a suit after filing a notice against Mirchi Movies in 2005 when the banner launched the project....

A new live-action version of Rudyard Kipling’s novel The Jungle Book is coming from Pathe and the BBC. According to Variety, the two studios have teamed up for the $50 million production. This new take on the old tale will be shot in the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in India, and it will be intercut with trained animals shot performing in the wild. CGI animation will make it appear as though the animals are talking....

Last month, we reported that Lionsgate finalized its acquisition of Summit Entertainment, which puts the mega-franchise The Twilight Saga and the forthcoming franchise The Hunger Games under the same studio roof. During a conference call to investors this morning, Lionsgate revealed the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 will be attached to prints of The Hunger Games, hitting theaters March 23. The Weinstein Company is pleased to announce that they have formed a strategic alliance with Exodus Film Group to jointly develop, produce and finance a multi-picture slate of CG-animated feature films, DVDs, and television series.
