Warner Bros. Pictures’ V for Vendetta left its mark in the top spot at the boxoffice for the weekend, unmasking an estimated $26.1 million in its debut. The sci-fi action-thriller from Silver Pictures, starring Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving, had the fourth-biggest opening of the year to date and was in line with prerelease tracking. First-time feature director James McTeigue helmed the R-rated Vendetta, which skewed male and reached a broad age demographic, says The Hollywood Reporter....

From the moment the first footage was revealed, it was clear that Scooby-Doo-based Velma would have a rough ride regarding the dedicated fan base of the iconic Great Dane and his mystery-solving cohorts. As the new R-rated animation hit HBO Max today, those expectations were spectacularly exceeded in the worst way possible for the show as reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and IMDb tore into the reimagined cartoon. As of writing, the audience Rotten Tomatoes score is sitting at just 10% and dropping with every new review....

The Walking Dead is racing towards its season 10 premiere this October, giving us all-new episodes just in time for Halloween. AMC has been ramping up the excitement with weekly reveals from the returning show. And today’s sneak peek is a special one, as it features Rosita’s Baby. Deadline reports that original Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom is in talks to reprise his role of Legolas in The Hobbit. Orlando Bloom hasn’t officially signed on at this time, although he is closing in on a deal to return. After Marvel Studios releases The Avengers, we know Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 are coming down the pipe next. Beyond that, Marvel president Kevin Feige reveals The Inhumans, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Ant-Man may be up next. Back in March, we reported Marvel is seeking writers for The Inhumans. We haven’t heard word yet about any screenwriters being hired yet for The Inhumans, but Kevin Feige revealed the project will be a large-scale ensemble, much like The Avengers....

Filming on the upcoming sequel The Nun 2 is officially underway. Taking to Instagram, producer James Wan posted an image from the set revealing our first look at the film. Matthew McConaughey, Tobey Maguire, Sofía Vergara, and Zac Efron have joined the cast of The Paperboy for Millennium Films. The project is an adaptation of Peter Dexter’s 1995 novel of the same name, which follows a Miami Times reporter who comes back to his Florida hometown to investigate a death row inmate and how he was imprisoned. Lee Daniels will direct The Paperboy, which was being developed for over a decade by filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar and author Peter Dexter....

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has gifted us with so many gems, from Avengers: Infinity War to the hugely popular WandaVision. Netflix’s original series Daredevil revolves around Matt Murdock, a blind attorney who also happens to be the eponymous vigilante of Hell’s Kitchen with superhuman sonar vision. While there have been quite a few attempts to bring Daredevil to life in the past, including the film featuring Ben Affleck, none have seen nearly as much success as the Netflix original series....
