White, upper-middle-class New England is accorded far more atmosphere than it deserves in The Ice Storm, a movie which turned 25 years old on Sep. 27th. It helps that Ang Lee’s 1997 film takes place in wintertime (as doubtlessly indicated by the title) – Connecticut’s barren forests and snowy, desolate landscapes provide an uncanny, existential shadow to what is very much a psychological slice-of-life dramedy and not the kind of meditative, almost Terence Malick-y mood piece that it sometimes pretends to be....

As noted by ScreenRant, The Last of Us co-creator Neil Druckmann and series showrunner Craig Mazin recently revealed the real scientific inspiration behind the series chemically connected Cordyceps zombies. The new HBO show The Last of Us is an adaptation of Naughty Dogs’ acclaimed 2013 action-adventure game series. Both versions of The Last of Us take place in a hardened, post-apocalyptic America where an epidemic has devastated humanity. The outbreak began in 2003 after a mutated strain of Cordyceps fungus turned its victims into vicious creatures....

The Oakes is the first project to be given the go-ahead by new Fox President of Entertainment Kevin Reilly. According to Variety, the series was written by Tell Me You Love Me ’s David Schulner. The show is described as a supernatural relationship drama. It revolves around three different couples that lived in the same house during different decades. The series will take place in 1967, 1987, and 2007. These people are all connected by a ghost that also happens to live in the house....
