HBO Max has renewed the hit comedic thriller The Flight Attendant starring Kaley Cuoco for a second season, it was announced today by Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer, HBO and HBO Max. The eight-episode first season premiered November 26 and had its finale on December 17. The entire first season is available to stream now on HBO Max. Season one was based on the novel of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Chris Bohjalian and told the story of how an entire life can change in one night....

Lionsgate and the filmmakers of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire are pleased to announce that Alan Ritchson (Fired Up) has been cast in the role of Gloss in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. A former Career tribute from District 1, Gloss and his sister Cashmere are both competing in the Quarter Quell. Alan Ritchson most recently starred in the CBS comedy pilot Super Fun Night with Rebel Wilson, and Blue Mountain State, which aired on Spike TV for three seasons....

We reported back in March that Platinum Dunes were handling a new remake of an 80s classic and now the film has landed two new writers. Heat Vision Blog is reporting that Mark Gunn and Brian Gunn have been hired to write The Monster Squad remake. Our initial report indicated that Rob Cohen, who produced the original 1987 The Monster Squad film, will also produce the remake, but now this new story reveals that Cohen will also direct the film as well....

The producers behind mega-hit phenomenon American Idol take the musical reality genre to a whole new level with a mission to find undiscovered American bands that are ready to rock the nation, starting with the special two-hour series premiere of The Next Great American Band (working title) Friday, Oct. 19 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. It has just been announced at the streamer that a second season of the late-night talk show-style Sesame Street spinoff has officially been renewed, and production on season 2 is already underway at Kaufman Astoria Studios in New York. New episodes will be debuting as soon as this fall. “We’re thrilled to continue creating new Sesame Street adventures with HBO Max, giving children and families new ways to explore the neighborhood they love,” said Ed Wells, Sesame Workshop’s EVP and Head of Global Media and Education, in a statement....

For those who still like to own a physical disc as opposed to streaming everything, CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment have released a three-disc Blu-Ray and DVD of the 2020 adaptation of Stephen King’s epic apocalypse horror The Stand. I haven’t seen Death Sentence yet, but I’d wager a linden that it’s your best bet for this Labor Day weekend. The trailer gets a solid A+, and I like everything that director James Wan and actor Kevin Bacon have had to say about it. The story is an adaptation of a Brian Garfield novel. He’s the same guy that wrote “Death Wish”, and if you didn’t know, the story of this one closely hews the plot found in that old Charlie Bronson relic....

Moviegoers eager for their first look at The Tourist, the highly anticipated thriller starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, will be able to catch the new theatrical trailer for the film, on the internet Wednesday, September 15th at 9 AM PST. The film will be released in theaters nationwide on December 10, 2010. The trailer will debut in theaters beginning September 17th attached to The Town. Johnny Depp stars as an American tourist whose playful dalliance with a stranger leads to a web of intrigue, romance and danger in The Tourist....

The Walking Dead universe is continuing to expand, even as the main show is, slowly but surely, bringing her in for a landing. According to TWD Chief Content Officer Scott Gimple, AMC is currently developing a comedy spin-off taking place in the walker-infested universe. Rather than heading straight to the bigscreen, Variety is reporting that Voltron: Defender of the Universe will take life as an animated series (Voltron Force) on Nicktoons and a new toy line from Mattel. Starting in 2011, Nicktoons will air 26 half-hour episodes of Voltron Force, about five space explorers who pilot robotic lions that combine to form Voltron, an invincible guardian sworn to defend the Universe. The series will remain faithful to the old show, while introducing new recruits to fight alongside the original characters....

Pictures Group broke the all-time industry worldwide box office record with a 2010 gross of $4.814 billion, which surpasses the prior record of $4.010 billion (set by Warner Bros. in 2009).
