The Gears of War franchise just got revved up. Netflix recently announced both a film and animated adaptation of the prolific series coming soon to their platform. It’ll mark the first significant adaptation of the Gears of War series beyond the books that center around the world’s lore. The games themselves have been around since the early days of the Xbox 360, serving as the console’s flagship series alongside Halo with five mainline entries and two spinoffs....

Warner Bros.’ DC Extended Universe has been through the wringer. Failed movies, bad creative decisions (both in front of and behind the camera), and a general disregard of the source material have left the DCEU in tatters. What started as promising counter-programming to the Marvel formula is now trying its level best to reassemble itself. Enter Dwayne Johnson. Now a bona fide movie star, The Rock has been eyed by both Warner Bros....

Heavy metal gets a bad rap sometimes. The genre was synonymous with satanism, tattoos, unkempt hair, and a plethora of tinnitus-riddled head-bangers that espoused the praises of their favorite subgenre. However, Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse remains beloved by both metal fans and casual viewers alike, with praise given to its genuine passion for the music and its ability to make fun of it. The series originally lasted four seasons, concluding with an hour-long rock opera – “The Doomstar Requiem” – that left several important plot lines unfortunately unresolved....

The CW Network welcomes superstar Whoopi Goldberg in a guest appearance on the critically acclaimed comedy series Everybody Hates Chris. Goldberg will appear in two episodes of Everybody Hates Chris, which premieres October 1 (7:00-7:30 p.m. ET). She will play Louise, a woman from Queens who moves in next door to Chris’ (Tyler James Williams) family, and whose granddaughter is the latest object of Chris’ affections. Goldberg is one of a very elite group of artists who have won the Grammy (Whoopi Goldberg, 1985), the Academy Award (Ghost, 1991), the Golden Globe (The Color Purple, 1985 and Ghost, 1991), the Emmy (as host of AMC’s Beyond Tara: The Extraordinary Life of Hattie McDaniel, 2002) and a Tony (Producer of Thoroughly Modern Millie, 2002)....

The Nightmare Before Christmas confused many parents in 1993 when kids who had seen promotional material for the film excitedly proposed a family trip to the movies, receiving concerned looks after announcing the title. For anyone who learned about the film via word of mouth, it immediately sounded like the next controversial assault on Christmas ala 1984’s Silent Night Deadly Night or 1980’s Christmas Evil. But The Nightmare Before Christmas was nothing of the sort....

With the fall TV season fast approaching, The CW Network has released a first look video that includes footage from new programs The Flash, debuting Tuesday, October 7, and the mid-season series IZombie, which doesn’t have a premiere date set at this time. This video also includes new scenes from the rest of CW’s lineup, including Arrow, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals and many more. Barry Allen was just 11 years old when his mother was killed in a bizarre and terrifying incident and his father was falsely convicted of the murder....

Back in early December, The CW aired an epic four-night crossover that featured all of their DC Comics heroes coming together, Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and the network’s most recent addition, Supergirl. Since Supergirl was moved from CBS to The CW for its second season, Kara Zor-El didn’t fit into this crossover story too much, with only a brief epilogue at the end of the episode setting up the rest of the crossover....

A leaked copy of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises script has landed on-line, and its verification as the real thing has only been confirmed by how quickly it has been ripped down. Comic Book Movie managed to grab some of the details, which claim that there are four main villains in the story including the long rumored Dr. Hugo Strange, Black Mask, Talia al Ghul, and Killer Croc. Back in March, we reported that Warner Bros. is considering backing the massive multi-platform project The Dark Tower. Today, we have word that the studio is about to receive a new script by Akiva Goldsman, and that Russell Crowe may be stepping in to play Roland Deschain. The studio will make their decision on whether or not to give a green light within the next two weeks. Javier Bardem was long attached to play the nomadic gunslinger, even after Universal Pictures dropped the project last July....

Warner Bros. has been sued by tattoo artist S. Victor Whitmill who wants to stop the release of the upcoming comedy sequel The Hangover Part II, which is scheduled for May 26. S. Victor Whitmill created the intricate facial tattoos for boxer Mike Tyson, who appeared as himself in The Hangover. The artist claims he has exclusive rights to the tattoo. Ed Helms’ character sports a facial tattoo that is quite similar to Mike Tyson’s ink in The Hangover Part II, and the artist is suing since the studio did not ask permission to use his design....

Could we finally be seeing the first footage from The Mandalorian on Friday? With any luck, that’s going to be the case. Those who were in attendance at the panel for the live-action Star Wars TV series during Star Wars Celebration in April were treated to, not only a trailer, but quite a bit of extended footage and behind the scenes clips as well. Unfortunately (leaks aside) none of it has been made available to the public....

The Muppets are making their way to Disney+ next month in classic fashion. All five seasons of The Muppet Show are coming to the streaming service in February, which will give Kermit and the gang an even larger presence on Disney’s direct-to-consumer platform. It also means that fans of Jim Henson’s creations can revisit the show that made them famous in the first place. Disney dropped the news over on the official Muppets Twitter account....

The Good An uplifting movie that seems to have aged well over years since it’s initial release in 1984. The Bad With all of the extras on this DVD one would have thought Barry Levinson would have found the time to do a commentary track. Robert Redford plays Roy Hobbs in The Natural. As someone who seems destined for great things, Hobbs heads to the city to try his luck. Along the way he meets a woman named Harriet Bird (Barbara Hershey) who, just before they are about to start getting down to business, shoots Hobbs for reasons that have yet to remain clear....

Tony Scott’s thrilling summer heist remake The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 is making its big DVD and Blu-ray debut on November 3rd. The release, which stars Denzel Washington and John Travolta, is packed to the gills with special features, and comes with a price tag of $28.96 SRP on DVD and $39.95 SRP on Blu-ray. Audiences have now had a few days to binge and reflect on The Umbrella Academy season 2, and, much like with the first season, there are now a variety of frustrating questions left up in the air. AMC has officially announced that the zombie infested worlds of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead will finally crossover. A character from one show will crossover to the other series, according to The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman. Kirkman told fans on Saturday night at the Walking Dead panel held at the Theater at Madison Square Garden as part of New York Comic-Con. Fans have been waiting for this moment ever since the companion show was announced and it looks as if the wait is almost over as Kirkman would not offer any other details other to say that one character will hop shows next year....
