Producer Don Murphy (Transformers) is joining forces with Michael Preger on an updated version of the sci-fi classic The Day of the Triffids, according to Variety. The movie project will be based on John Wyndham’s novel, which was first published in 1951 and revolves around a global crisis stemming from plants displaying aggressive behavior. This unusual behavior leads to a catastrophe which causes global blindness. It was said that Michael Preger first picked up the rights to the John Wyndham novel and that he has been searching for a modern way to bring this story to the screen....

Anyone who has been following The Flash likely knows about the trouble surrounding lead star Ezra Miller. Cast in 2014 hot off performances in The Perks of Being a Wall Flower and We Need to Talk About Kevin, the young star was an inspired casting choice for the Scarlet Speedster. Despite multiple delays to the film, fans were excited about the solo movie. Miller’s performance in Justice League was a highlight for many, and the actor seemed to really love playing the role, even appearing in cameos on the CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths and HBO Max’s Peacemaker....

A new photo from Ruben Fleischer’s The Gangster Squad was released in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, which offers our first look at co-stars Josh Brolin and Sean Penn. Mezco has unveiled new images and information about their new action figure line from the upcoming film The Green Hornet, which is set for release in theaters on January 14, 2011. Below you can take a look at images of The Green Hornet and Kato action figures along with a description of the products as well. The action figures will be released in November. “Mezco 12inch 1/6th scale figures are based on the characters from the upcoming big budget tent pole film from Sony Pictures....

Francis Ford Coppola’s epic The Godfather has been captivating audiences for more than 50 years. Now, Paramount+ has turned the behind-the-scenes making of the mafia movie into the limited series The Offer, starring Miles Teller, Matthew Goode, Dan Fogel, Juno Temple, and Justin Chambers. The series takes the viewer on quite a journey from producer Al Ruddy’s (Miles Teller) job as an engineer at the Rand Corporation to him improvising a pitch for a television series to a room full of executives....

In the final chapter of Stephenie Meyer’s hugely successful vampire romance novel series The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, newly weds Bella and Edward head to Brazil for their honeymoon. Director Bill Condon had planned to shoot these scenes on location for his upcoming adaptation of the book The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, but now it doesn’t look like he wants to bring cast members Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson into the country....

One of the most critically acclaimed programs on air, HBO’s Peabody-winning series The Wire continues to challenge viewers with a “cop show” unlike anything on television. Now HBO Video brings the show back in a 4-disc set when The Wire: The Complete Fourth Season is released in stores, December 4, 2007. The 13 episodes focus on the experiences of four young boys - Michael, Namond, Randy and Dukie - through the theme of education, leading viewers to consider the world that awaits them, and to consider further the American commitment to equal opportunity....

Tobey Maguire may be Spider-Man, but before that he’s a Family Man. The actor who played Peter Parker and his webbed alter-ego in the first three Spider-Man films has signed a deal for his appearance in Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5, and according to the Times Online, he has a clause in his contract that gives him time off specifically to spend with his daughter. Maguire, who will film the two movies back-to-back over six months has insisted that he get early mornings and evenings off to play with his daughter, Ruby, who is 22 months old....

Blumhouse has just released a fresh take on the horror genre. Torn Hearts is a cautionary tale of the music industry’s dark side in which two rising country stars meet their idol with potentially deadly consequences. A female Nashville country music duo seems to be tired of playing to half-empty bars, and one of the women strikes at the opportunity to meet a true country music legend. The only problem is that this legend lives in a run-down mansion and has been reclusive since the death of her singing-partner sister marking the end of her career....

Netflix has announced Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will star in the upcoming interactive special for the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The streaming platform has received some mixed reactions to its interactive content, specifically with the Black Mirror: Bandersnatch movie. It did premiere to huge numbers, according to Netflix. However, this one will be a bit more lighthearted than that and it sounds like it could be fun for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt fans....

Towards the end of last week’s Vikings episode, we got a quick look at Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) returning home to Kattegat. Now the interesting part would be to see how he reacts to all that has gone on since he has been gone in Full Moon. Bjorn already has much on his mind though, since being away he has lost his feelings for Torvi (Georgia Hirst) and is figuring out how he will deal with her....

Chadwick Boseman made a huge impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a short space of time, having made his debut in Captain America: Civil War and going on to make history with Black Panther. For that reason it is no surprise that on what would have been the actor’s 45th birthday, Marvel fans had the phrase Wakanda Forever trending on Twitter as they paid tribute to the late actor who is still sadly missed in the industry just over a year after losing his battle with cancer....

Universal Cable Productions also announced that Jack Kenny has signed a development deal that will return him for a third season as Executive Producer and Showrunner of Warehouse 13. During its second season, Warehouse 13 averaged 3.43 million total viewers, 1.48 million Adults 18-49, 1.78 million Adults 25-54 and a 2.4 household rating, based on DVR Live +7 data (through 10 episodes). Warehouse 13 is Syfy’s top series in 2010 for total viewers and Adults 25-54....

On August 8, the two companies will announce the winning titles and make available for pre-order each of the ten winners. Five of the winning titles will make their DVD debut on December 5, 2006. The remaining five will be released on January 2, 2007. All of the films will be re-mastered and will contain added bonus features where available. Each title will sell for $19.97 SRP. Variety reports that Warner Bros. is leaping backwards to the 13th century with a Marco Polo film. Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) is going to direct for Erwin Stoff at 3 Arts Entertainment. Warner Bros. bought the pitch preemptively from scribes Adam Cooper and Bill Collage. They are also going to write the script. The presently untitled project is seen as a fantasy-adventure instead of a biopic. The studio isn’t saying too much about the storyline....

HBO has officially ordered the pilot for a Watchmen TV series from showrunner Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers). The project is an adaptation of the dark superhero movie that is based off of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s 1986 limited comic series. Though the movie fared okay at the box office, it received polarizing reviews to say the least. The big screen adaptation was praised by many for staying true to the source material, but also considered to be pretty boring by many fans and moviegoers....
