Universal is going to make December 26 a bloody one as it unleashes The Black Dahlia on DVD! Synopsis: The acclaimed director of Scarface and the best-selling author of “L.A. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, USA Network is looking to make a show based on the 1990 feature film, The Freshman. This would mark the cable channel’s first major series development that is based on an existing property in eight years. Andrew Bergman wrote and directed the 1990 movie that starred Matthew Broderick and Marlon Brando. He will write the series adaptation for Sony TV. The film followed “a wide-eyed NYU freshman (Broderick) who unwittingly becomes an errand boy for a Mafia boss (Brando)....

Warner Bros. Television arrives in Anaheim for another exciting weekend at WonderCon 2014, starting with exclusive screenings - on the big screen - of upcoming episodes of the new hit series The 100 (Wednesdays 9/8c The CW), along with Warner Bros. Animation’s super funny super hero series Teen Titans Go! (Wednesdays 6:30/5:30c Cartoon Network) on Friday, April 18. The reason we haven’t heard any fruitful updates in a while on ExpendaBelles is that the kibosh has been put on the project. Dating back several years, there had been reports that The Expendables would be given a spinoff that specifically teamed up some of the action genre’s most popular female stars. At one point in 2014, Robert Luketic was set to direct the planned movie, and there were rumors that the cast could include names like Milla Jovovich, Meryl Streep, and Cameron Diaz....

Thirteen years since its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival back in 2008, The Hurt Locker is now getting a brand new 4K Blu-ray SteelBook next month. It’s official, The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has just announced that its members have voted to end the 100-day strike. The WGA has issued a press release to explain the agreement: The membership of the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) today voted overwhelmingly in favor of lifting the restraining order and ending their 100-day strike that began on Nov. 5. 3,775 writers turned out in Los Angeles and New York to cast ballots or fax in proxies, with 92....

The MCU post-Endgame has somehow managed to be an even wilder ride than it was before the Avengers saved the entire universe from Thanos, and fans have not been complaining. Netflix will be heading to the courtroom courtesy of Carole Baskin. Shortly after the release of the trailer for Tiger King 2, an upcoming docuseries on Netflix that serves as a followup to last year’s smash hit Tiger King: Murder, Madness and Mayhem, Baskin sued Netflix and Royal Goode Productions over her inclusion. She also filed an emergency motion for a temporary restraining order that would block Netflix from using any footage of the Baskins and the Big Cat Rescue sanctuary in Tiger King 2 or any of its marketing....

The return of Tim Roth to the MCU in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law set up a reunion between Emil Blonsky and Bruce Banner, but the actor has cast doubt over whether scenes filmed involving the two characters have made it into the final cut of the show. Of course, the last time the two characters met on screen was in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, when Edward Norton was playing the title role, so this would be the first time Roth and Mark Ruffalo had shared screen time as their super-powered counterparts....

Timothy Harris is writing the screenplay for Imagi Studios’ upcoming CG-animated feature film Astro Boy, it was jointly announced by Cecil Kramer, Executive VP of Production, and Maryann Garger, producer of Astro Boy. Writer of such box office hits as Space Jam, Kindergarten Cop, Twins and Trading Places, Timothy Harris has been authoring screenplays for almost 30 years. His credits also include three acclaimed noir novels. In addition, Harris produced ‘Falling Down’, selected for the official competition at the 1993 Cannes International Film Festival....

Tony Kaye is in negotiations to direct the indie drama, Black Water Transit for Cheyenne Enterprises. He’ll take over for Samuel Bayer on the film starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson; Production Weekly notes it’s the first time the two will work together since Die Hard: With a Vengeance in 1995. Doug Richardson wrote the adaptation of the Carsten Stroud novel which is a high-voltage tale of betrayal, revenge, and redemption - deeply rooted in the violent underworld of East Coast crime....

Even though Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May won’t be returning to Top Gear, at least not anytime soon, former Friends star Matt LeBlanc most certainly will be. Even though his co-host from last season, BBC radio host Chris Evans, decided to step down, the show is pressing on without him. Like it or not, we are getting two more seasons worth of Matt LeBlanc hosted Top Gear. BBC reported the news on Monday that the actor had officially inked a new deal to continue hosting the very popular car-centric show for at least the next two seasons....

The relationship between Tom Cruise’s Maverick and Anthony Edwards’ Goose in the original 1986 movie Top Gun was one of the emotionally defining points of the film thanks to the death of Edwards’ character half-way through the movie. Now Edwards has given Top Gun: Maverick some much deserved praise, stating that “a lot of work” clearly went into making the movie the one everyone wanted to see from the sequel. While Goose is in the movie in spirit, it is his son, Rooster, who has an emotional journey to travel over the course of the movie, which ensures that it remembers its past as well as its present....

Paramount Pictures rolled out its 3D sequel Transformers: Dark of the Moon last night, with a slew of both pre-midnight and midnight screenings before today’s official opening. The movie took in an impressive $13.5 million from both sets of screenings last night. The studio opened Transformers: Dark of the Moon in over 2,700 3D theaters in pre-midnight showings, which earned an estimated $5.5 million. At midnight, Transformers: Dark of the Moon opened in both 2D and 3D theaters, which took in an estimated $8 million....
