Underworld is a series of action horror films that lean into the dark fantasy world. Starring Kate Beckinsale, it began in 2003 with the first release, Underworld, which focused on protagonist Selene, who is a vampire-warrior that becomes the focus on the franchise. It has since produced several sequels, which includes an animated addition. Overall, the Underworld franchise may have garnered less-than-favorable reviews from critics, however, has created a devoted cult following and performed successfully at the box office....

Underworld: New Dawn is currently shooting in Vancouver, and a couple of photos have arrived from the set. These new images showcase returning star Kate Beckinsale’s Selene stunt double as she propels herself down the Antigen building in Selene’s iconic black catsuit. You can check them out below. MGM and United Artists announced today they are moving the release date of Bryan Singer’s World War II thriller Valkyrie, starring Tom Cruise, from October 3, 2008 to President’s Day Weekend February 13, 2009. “MGM is proud and excited to be presenting Valkyrie, and because of that we want to give it the best launch possible,” said Clark Woods, President of Domestic Distribution of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, which is distributing the movie domestically....

Actress Vanessa Hudgens has come aboard The Frozen Ground for Emmett/Furla Films. We reported back in July that actors Nicolas Cage and John Cusack will star in the thriller. The project is based on real-life serial killer and respected family man Robert Hansen, who murdered 24 women in 12 years in his Alaskan community. John Cusack is portraying Hansen, with Vanessa Hudgens portraying the one victim who managed to escape, though no one believes her story....

Sony has confirmed that they will be moving ahead with Venom 3. The studio revealed that a sequel to the Tom Hardy-led comic book movie franchise has been given the go-ahead at the ongoing CinemaCon event. While no talent has yet been revealed, it is expected that Tom Hardy will return to reprise the dual role of Eddie Brock and the extra-terrestrial symbiote known as Venom, roles he has played since their big-screen debut back in 2018....

Warner Bros., BCI and Universal have some very interesting DVD plans. According to The Digital Bits, Warner Bros will be releasing Hollywood’s Legends of Horror Collection October 10 and not October 3 as originally reported. Also, BCI will be bringing out He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Season Two, Volume Two on September 19. This set “will include the final 32 episodes of the series (episodes 99-130). Extras on the set will include ‘The Stories of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Season Two, Part Two’ and ‘Animating He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’ documentaries, a full-length animated storyboard comparison for the episode ‘The Problem with Power,’ 2 original art cards, a trio of audio commentary tracks, character profiles, trivia, Easter eggs, TV spots and 5 episode scripts (via DVD-ROM)....

Warner Bros. is teaming again with Harry Potter producer David Heyman to bring another British kids classic to the bigscreen – Paddington Bear. According to Variety, Hamish McColl (Mr. Bean’s Holiday) is writing the screenplay for a live-action movie based on Michael Bond’s series of books for young children about a talking bear who’s adopted by a London family when they find him lost at Paddington Station. Paddington has journeyed from Darkest Peru, wearing a duffle coat, hat and Wellington boots, carrying a suitcase containing an empty jar of marmalade and wearing a label around his neck that reads “Please look after this bear, thank you....

In effort to curb piracy, Warner Bros. has released Superman Returns in China. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, the DVD can be purchased from 1000’s of Chinese retail stores but this didn’t stop pirates from making their version of the film available as well. Bootleg copies of the movie were selling on the streets of Beijing for 10 yuan or $1.25. “That doesn’t surprise me,” said executive vp and general manager of Warner Home Video, Asia Pacific and Latin America, Mark Horak....

Two weeks after we reported New Line’s absorption into Warner Bros. Pictures, and one week after we reported New Line’s staff decreasing by a whopping 75%, there is a new New Line beginning to sprout. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is moving in quickly to take over distribution of New Line movies, starting with the April release of Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo. Also, Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D will keep its July 11 slot, after being temporarily in release-date limbo....

Warner Bros. is looking to the futre in home entertainment, and they believe that future lies within video on-demand. According to Home Media Magazine, WB will begin releasing all of their movies on DVD and VOD simultaneously. Warner Bros. CEO Jeff Bewkes made the announcement on Wednesday, stating Time Warner Cable had been testing VOD along with other studios and cable companies in Denver and Pittsburgh. He said the margins for VOD were greater than DVD rental margins in those markets....

It’s commonly quoted that each Wes Anderson movie is distinct, instantly recognizable with every passing frame thanks to his specifically stylized fashion of filmmaking. His color palettes, the perfect symmetry of his shots, his roster of recurring collaborators, and his unusual dialogue are legitimately just a few of his defining traits as a director. Perhaps the quirkiest quality to each of his films, however, is Anderson’s obsession with dogs — not to mention his tendency to kill them off....

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child holds issues from its first scenes. The follow-up story relies on the concept that Albus Severus Potter is alienated from the rest of his family, relying heavily on Scorpius Malfoy as his only friend and confidant. While their friendship is at the heart of the story, that may be the only detail the sequel gets right. Otherwise, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child struggles through its storytelling in an attempt to suggest why there is a story to tell at all....

A recent set photo from the new The Flash movie has revealed that the film will include a visit to Central City. This return to the character’s roots in DC Comics is sure to be a nostalgically thrilling experience for viewers as Barry Allen (played by Ezra Miller) embarks on a journey through time and space. As fans await for the overdue arrival for DC’s The Flash later this year, an official tie-in comic has been announced for the upcoming film. Just recently, the publisher revealed that The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive will be releasing this summer. The comic prelude will be a three-issue monthly series beginning in April and will conclude in July. The events taking place in The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive will directly lead up to The Flash film, with the entire series being collected in a trade paperback in October....
