HBO has offered up the entire first episode of their new comedy, Silicon Valley, free for watching. Mike Judge (Office Space, King of the Hill) brings his irreverent brand of humor to HBO in this new comedy series, which looks at the modern-day epicenter of the high-tech Gold Rush, where the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success. The cast includes Thomas Middleditch, TJ Miller, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Josh Brener, Christopher Evan Welch and Amanda Crew....

Wednesday’s dominance at Netflix has risen another notch after the release of data from the show’s second week of release. Having already broken Stranger Things 4’s record for the number of hours viewed in a week during its first few days out, the Addams Family series has now doubled down on that by breaking its own record as it aims to surpass Stranger Things to be the most-watched English language show in Netflix history....

The Goonies star Corey Feldman backs a legacy sequel much like Top Gun: Maverick, rather than a reboot akin to the 2016 Ghostbusters outing. Speaking at a panel during Tennessee’s Fanboy Knoxville convention, 80s movie legend Feldman, who plays Clark “Mouth” Devereaux in the 1985 original, dismissed the idea of a remake, saying, “Let’s hope not. Those remakes, they ruin everything.” Released in 1985, and directed by Richard Donner, The Goonies follows a group of kids who live in the “Goon Docks” neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon....

The Hardy Boys will end with its upcoming third season, Variety reports. The Canadian series, which airs on Hulu in the US and on YTV in Canada, stars Rohan Campbell and Alexander Elliot as brothers Frank and Joe, respectively, two amateur detectives. The Hardy Boys is based on the fictional book series of the same name written by multiple ghostwriters under the pseudonym Franklin W. Dixon. Production for its upcoming final season is underway in Toronto and Ontario....

The Weinstein Company announced today they have acquired television rights to Daniel Stashower’s New York Times bestselling narrative nonfiction book, The Hour of Peril. TWC is eyeing the historical thriller as a television mini-series, with Brendan Deneen and Charles Spicer attached to executive produce on behalf of Macmillan Films. Published in February 2013 by Minotaur Books, The Hour of Peril uncovers the riveting true story of how the legendary detective Allan Pinkerton and his most trusted operative, the fearless Kate Warne - America’s first female private eye - raced against the clock to detect and prevent a plot to assassinate President-Elect Abraham Lincoln before he could take the oath of office....

The reimagined live-action Disney classics have become a controversial topic around the internet. Bringing favorite fairy tales to live-action is a dream come true for many and a nightmare for others. Regardless, Disney’s remakes have become a guilty pleasure for many moviegoers, and sometimes have more room to develop their characters and create nuance in plot (due to modern screenwriters, longer runtimes, and more). You can bring home this 1978 animated vision of J.R.R. Tolkein’s precious novels on DVD and Blu-ray this April. Ralph Bakshi’s animated The Lord of the Rings film will be released in a new Deluxe Edition DVD and Blu-ray on April 6. The standard DVD will be priced at $19.98 SRP while the BD will be priced at $29.99 SRP. The film stars the voices of Christopher Guard, William Squire and William Hurt....

After over two years since its release, fans of Netflix’s original animated series The Midnight Gospel finally have an answer. The fantasy adaptation The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones has added Lena Headey, Jared Harris, and newcomer Godfrey Gao to its growing cast. This adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s novel series centers on Clary Fray (Lily Collins), a young woman living in New York City who learns she is a descendant of a demon-hunting clan. Lena Headey is playing Jocelyn Fray, Jared Harris portrays Hodge Starkweather, and Godfrey Gao has signed on to play Magnus Bane....

After almost 30 years of The Nightmare Before Christmas being constantly referred to as a Tim Burton movie, Selick has revealed his frustration at constantly being overshadowed or even forgotten about entirely when it comes to the iconic movie....

Summit Entertainment confirmed today that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will be released as two separate films with the first of the two slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2011. Academy Award winner Bill Condon will direct both films starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner along with Billy Burke as Charlie Swan as well as returning members of the Cullen Family including Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Ashley Greene as Alice and Kellan Lutz as Emmett....

AMC has announced that The Walking Dead extended 10th season will premiere Sunday, February 28th at 9pm ET/8c. All six episodes will also debut early on AMC+, the premium streaming bundle, every Thursday prior to the episodes’ linear premieres on Sundays, beginning February 25th. It has also been announced that Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) has joined the cast as Mays. In addition, Hilarie Burton Morgan (One Tree Hill) has joined the cast as Lucille, along with new co-star Okea Eme-Akwari (Cobra Kai) as Elijah....

Milan Records has released a new single from The Witcher’s season 2 soundtrack by composer Joseph Trapanese. A follow-up to lead single “Power and Purpose,” the new song, “Kaer Morhen,” is the latest from the full soundtrack album, which features music from the highly-anticipated second season of Netflix’s epic fantasy series. Named after the location of the infamous keep where witchers are trained, “Kaer Morhen” is a string-heavy number that features an early crescendo of emotionally-rousing orchestration before leveling into a more serene conclusion....

Every great story has an even greater villain behind it. Since the dawn of storytelling, a villain has been a fundamental part of the formula, and while they’re not necessarily needed for a narrative, they play an important role. Tracing back to the origins of human storytelling, it was common for a villain, or even a questionable anti-hero, to work their way into the plot with less-than-pure intentions.
